Legacy GT wagon with Outback suspension?
JoeInOregon replied to bobglaub's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
I would look into " helper bags" they sit inside of stock springs and you inflate them with a compressor not 100 percent you can find a size that will fit but it's very likely....also your insane..... legacy + trailer + alcan highway = almost certain heart break Not to mention the rest of the trip across America, I would seriously consider having what would be put in the trailer shipped and packing essentials in the wagon, I have done the alcan ....granted in winter but man that a lot of miles and breaking down in Canada is not a good thing for a US citizen, I wouldn't personally do it in anything but a new car. Either way good luck to you. Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk -
another time to sell thread
JoeInOregon replied to chato's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
I had this same debate with my 01 Audi TT bought it nearly 15 years ago dumped well over 10k in modds in to it, did all the work myself, then I had two kids and it sat, sometimes outside under a cover , paint got nuked......I ended up selling it , took a bath on it of course .....then shortly after I bought the legacy to presumably just start the cycle all over again. The only upside for me is I have back seats now and can take the kids in it. What I'm getting at here is if you sell it you will almost certainly pick up another project so I would say go wild with it do the crazy stuff you held out on, or sell it and pretend like your not going to get another project car , or by some miricale actually don't. Ya anyone I found online has like 4 to 6 months lead time minus the already rebuilt ones on ebay. Guess I'm just going to go with a new factory vf52 wouldn't mind having .y vf40 rebuild and built a bit but I can't wait 6 months, from everything I read I don't think the vf52 will feel laggy compared to stock Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk -

Been looking for a vf52 and I plain don't want to spend 1k if I don't have to. Are the rebuild kits any good any recommendation on where to purchase and is that really viable without a machine to Ballance . And is this linked below junk ? See they have sold hundreds but that doesn't mean anything. https://www.ebay.com/itm/SUBARU-IHI-RHF55-VF52-WRX-LEGACY-14411AA800-NIB-Genuine-IHI-Turbo-charger-/282818409266?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0 Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk

VW Touareg Brake Swap
JoeInOregon replied to samuel082799's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Would love to do this but my local yard no longer allows self pull and besides I have been chasing 17zs sense I had my Audi TT it's like winning the lottery to find a set Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk -
I can confirm VAG engineers are sadist, my last heavily modded car was an 01 Audi TT quattro, everything is had to get to, requires a special tool, and is expensive, you would think having the 1.8t from a golf would help but nope Evey bit of exhaust , intake, mounts was all model specific, the internals and fueling where about all that translated Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk

Strut/Shock Opinions?....
JoeInOregon replied to Jolbaru_LGT's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
For what it's worth I just went threw this ....I had a tough time deciding, I ended up doing new kyb excels ( the OEM replacement) new strut mounts and bearings up from and new rear mounts with 3/8 saggy but spacers. My shocks/struts where blow and my car had 170k when I got it. I'm really happy night and day compared to the blown ones super comfy ride , doesn't mind dirt and gravel roads and let's be honest the fact I was all in for less than 500 if a positive as well. All that being said the koni inserts seem to be everyone's choice and I'm sure would firm up the ride but I'm pretty dam happy Full disclosure I also added 1 inch wheel h&r wheel spacers and call be crazy but it affected how planted it feels as well and did those before the struts and it was noticible. Stock wheels, stock size tire and original 170k springs Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk -
