Giffle
Got a Check Engine yesterday with a rough idle. Change the ignition coil on cyl no 2. Running fine now
Dispatch20
Fought an epic battle with the rear lower strut bolt, and eventually won. One side came off in 5 seconds with just an impact wrench. The frozen side required pb blaster, MAPP torch, ice cubes, breaker bar, impact wrench and 3 hours. The damn nut was seized onto the bolt. After 176k miles, the rear shocks were completely toast. Oddly, one of my front struts was in excellent condition. I'll do the other front strut later tonight. I HATE doing front struts on Legacys. Spring compressors work pretty terrible on these because only a single compressor can get 3 coils worth inside it.
Dispatch20
Today, I drained the manual transmission fluid and put in Redline 75W90ns. It my brief drive out of the garage and back in, the shifts felt buttery smooth. I also installed a set of orange Hella Supertone horns with the Subimods harness and relay. During the horn install, I learned that the 3rd Gen Legacy is well-suited for the standard bracket that comes with the hella horns. The subimods bracket won't fit due to curvature in the sheet metal where the horns bolt on to. Only the 4th Gen Legacy and WRX's really benefit from the relocation bracket. A Pitman puller works well to separate the ball joint from the arm.

lagwagn
Installed clear OEM JDM side markers and a new double din nav deck. It was a good Sunday. Dispatch20
New Nav Deck: http://rbpfuel.com/forumimages/subaru_new_deck.jpg Nice! Which double din unit is this? I was thinking of putting one in mine (mostly to add a rear view camera display screen).
Dispatch20
Smelled gas in the car today. It's super cold (7F) today, so it was the classic hose/clamp leak. I tightened them up, and hopefully it fixes it.
lagwagn
Nice! Which double din unit is this? I was thinking of putting one in mine (mostly to add a rear view camera display screen). Just a Kenwood. Think it is a DNN770. Its got rear view camera capability though along with a bunch of other nice features. Alberta finally started adding demerits to "distracted driving" tickets, so I was more interested in the Bluetooth for calls and such. Plus, if you have an installer that knows what he is doing, they can enable video on the deck while you are driving without needing an expensive add on kit like other brands. Just picked up some new hoses and clamps.

Started on drivers side and snapped a bolt off inside the caliper bracket because it was too seized up. Picked up a new bracket at autozone and will be trying to finish today. Dispatch20
I finished installing and hardwiring a dash cam. Just like in my 08 Legacy, I went with the A118C / B40. I used a fuse tap, which was a pain for various reasons. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160206/0da1bd2db7104d3f76bc0c7c9aac2312.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160206/290c36f723b0570a424450466b6bad6e.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160206/5c646b2a7658324985e6b1272a183f0d.jpg

Deacon
My '01 legacy developed the head gasket they're known for. Forgot about the additive and was stressing about the cost of replacing it. Then I remembered the research I did before I purchased it. Went to the dealership, picked up two bottles of the coolant system conditioner, poor then in and the leak stopped immediately. $15 is better than $2000. xrayspecs
From the for sale section on here picked up some borlas. But had been planning on going with ebay knock offs for a while. I have the inline oil cooler that it they normalu list as not fitting. but the combination of a little persuasion from a bfh and going to a 99 miata filter there's no interference issues. I'll be going to a remote filter just to get a larger element in the near future.
