What did U do 2 ya Legacy 2day?

Recommended Posts

Okay, today I was able to fix the spoiler bolt issue as doing a quick internet search pointed to using drywall screws inside the hole.

http://www.wrxtuners.com/forums/f73/broken-spoiler-mount-fix-non-sti-31158/

I have pictures but Photobucket seems to be not working properly today.

Anyways, I was able to use some Permatex Rubber sealant around the holes and covered the bolts on the inside and on the top in hopes that will make it water tight.

Additionally, I tried to do the "trunk fix" by adjusting the two 12 mm bolts on the inside of the trunk and was able to get it to close easily by moving it up, but then the driver's side of the trunk was tilted upward too much and did not line up with the brake lights....

The two bolts only go up on and down and do not seem to have and left to right adjustments...

SO I have to choose either to have a trunk I have to slam to close or one that is all messed up on one side. :spin:

Anyone else run into this issue?

Okay Photobucket seems to be working today.

So here are the pictures of what I used.

The passenger side outside bolt broke free so I found that others have used drywall anchors to fix it.

In addition to that I used a flat washer and a locking washer.

Surprisingly the flat washer fits perfectly into the plastic that was on the old bolt, so I reused that again.

I used Permatex Rubber Sealant to put on the bolts and on the top of the trunk in hopes that will water seal it up.

Below is the drywall anchor screw I used after the bolt broke free.

It may not be pretty but it works better and does not cost me $300+ to get a new spoiler.

Here are pictures of my trunk issue.

Passenger side is fine.

Driver's side not fine.

That is after I adjusted the latch at the bottom with the two 12mm bolts.

I think I may just have to take the bottom latch off completely and put them back on to see if I can adjust them correctly.

Not sure.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Good evening everyone. I did a brake Upgrade at the begining of the week and thought I would share the results.

I went from the stock 2000 10.4in? Ish rotor to the 05-09 legacy gt 12.3 in rotor and a much larger caliper to go with it. f08388d7bea0c69af4268cd50232e479.jpgea89556f829ab37f432bd3b3236f6a14.jpge0dffd299ba0bdc9029fae2cbbf6e92e.jpgff230857a466ffb0c348d14d6e9476db.jpg390e4ec988ef674de6ca631a6388f6d4.jpge0867663ecd195a5c8ee358110b8306b.jpg75630b30a8ab30d25a96623f7ae8f5cb.jpg956f3b440cff0083411c29f4921d042c.jpg

Looks great!

Did you buy new calipers from Subaru, Junk Yard, or parts store?

Looks great!

I love the wheels too!

I used parts store remanufactured calipers with a core and just turned in my old 2 pots as cores.

Yeah I am going to have to buy new front rotors.........again.......

I think the StopTech Street pads I have and the Centric Premium Brake Rotors just do not like each other.

I got "warped" rotors from the pads and had the rotors turned and now 3-4 months later they are "warped" again...... *sigh*

So I am eyeing the Ultra Premium Blanks from NAPA now as the replacements.

We have 10.9 inch front rotors right?

So as many here suffer from a leaky water trunk I also suffer from a rusty spare tire.

Well, this weekend I took care of that and removed about 95% of the rust with my drill and a rust remover drill bit. Then I primed a bit and repainted the inside of the wheel black and the outside orange using Rustoleum spray paint designed to prevent rust.

I chose orange as I would prefer for others to know why I have to drive so slow in the event of having to use it (I had to do 55 mpg in Montana 70 mph zone in my last car on the way home, people stared at me as they passed in confusion of my slowness).

The label for the tire pressure I tried to save, but the result makes me wish I just removed it instead.

yup 10.9. The wagners are painted really nicely. WAY better than advance auto brands. Way better than any "coated" ones.

photobucket is broken again.

Yeah... Sad day. Just imagine it is beautiful and very orange!

There... I think I fixed it... Maybe...

Hmm it still says they are made in China, which has me skeptical.

I am just tired of warped rotors that I keep replacing... :spin:

I got rear ended and just got off work to pull the bumper cover off and check the bumper beam and such. trunk doesn't close great anymore.

the ford escape that hit me cracked there bumper cover but mine was fine.

i was out of gear so i dont think i need to check timing. anything else to check out.

Maybe you are too hard on your rotors when you brake. 90% of rotors are made in china. The wagners are painted before they machine them which is nice.

My rotors would have still been good if my caliper didn't seize on me.

I am not particularly hard on rotors as I don't brake that hard.

I am not the only one to have issues with these rotors though.

The combination of Stoptech and Centric Premium seems to not mix well.

Just because I have wasted so much money on these rotors I am going to try and stick with the U.S. or UK for my replacements.

The Centric Premiums on my wife's Corolla have been fine for years!
