Oh, you won't have to worry about that. I've already curbed them.

On a related note, how wide of a tire would fit on 18x9.5 +45 do you guys think? Restricted to 245/40 or could you go up to 255 or 265/40?

I am running 18x9.5 on 245/40s, I wish I had been braver and gone with the 255s at least. I am on BC Coils. I think I can fit the 265s but I think would be too small of a sidewall if I went 265/35 and too tall if I went 265/40 and having to run the camber to fit that wide of a wheel. I think it might be more hassle than it is worth to most. But what do I know, I am simply a timid noob.

You can put a 265/40 on 9" wheels, so you could easily do 275/35 on a 9.5" wheel but you would need coilovers with thatvoffset. 245 on 9.5 would start to look stretched. I like a square look.

I've only ever curbed one wheel in my 30 years of driving. I could probably drop $3000 on a set of wheels and be fine if I only had a spare $3000.

Already answered by GTEASER and done by at least three members here.

275 on 9.5" no problem but only on coilovers. You will need lower offset if on OEM or Bilstein struts as a 275 tire at +45 will rub the spring perch/strut housing.

If your BC coil's spring perch is higher than the top of your tire, you are golden.

I like square fitment too. I just wasn't sure what tire size would fit with the suspension bits. If I can fit 9.5, I'm inclined to go that route. However, I'm still on the stock suspension so if I need to swap some bouncy bits out first, that's useful to know.

In reference to my 18x9.5 et45 Raijins. No fender work to date.

How low are you dropped though? and from my understanding its the tire size and offset that seems to be more of a concern? 245/40 +45 doesnt seem to be too aggressive depending on how low you set the height on your coils.

http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=255&aspect=40&diameter=18&wheelwidth=9&offset=40&width2=245&aspect2=45&diameter2=18&wheelwidth2=8.75&offset2=36#content

I loaded up GTEASER's specs and my possible future specs. I noticed that a 245 width tire will give me the square look I want on an 8.75" width wheel. According to the link, I will have 0.8mm more poke than GTEASER has on his current setup. I kinda wanna run 245/45/18s so I will probably roll the fenders just in case.

EDIT: I used GTEASER's specs for reference as he did not have to roll the rears and I believe only cambered the fronts and did a slight pull with a 1.25" drop on his H&R springs

I am already on 245/40, I am thinking what I want the next go around, even though it is a year or 2 out. Definitely 255 or better. Trying to see if I could get away with 265s. I am not too low and I wouldn't mind raising it a tad. I don't need it slammed by any means.

Guys- In the market for some wheels and one of my considerations is the Varrstoen MK1, 18X9.5 +35. Will be dropped on Swift springs (already have, not yet installed).

Car is silver and I like the classic 5-star design which will be really easy to clean..

Checked poke and inset on willtheyfit but that doesn't tell me whether I'll be rubbing or not.

Opinions:

Do you think they'll rub on 255/40/18 tires?

If so, will 245/40/18 be a much better option to avoid rubbing / having to roll?

I would prefer the 255 for a more square set-up. Don't want to go 35 for sidewall as our streets in Colorado are really bad.

Thanks for any insight.

My 18x9+40 with 255/40-18, and running about -1.5 degrees front and -2.2 degrees rear of camber, just slightly rubs all the way around. I am on H&R which is a 1.3" drop from stock. I think my poke from the stock GT wheels was 34mm. The front needed a pull and the rear a very slight roll.

Anything wider and lower offset WILL RUB and WILL NEED FENDER WORK.

Pulled the trigger today on Konig Oversteer, 19X8.5, +45, 5X100. Color is Opal. Distributor indicates weight is 21.2lbs but I'll be weighing upon receipt.

Best of all, price was just $638 shipped. If anyone is interested in Konig wheels right now, treaddepot.com has free shipping and a discount on the wheels.

These will be wrapped in 245/40/19, lowered on Swift Sport springs. Hoping I don't rub....

Pictures up in another week or so

Update: received wheels on 7-6-15 and weighed them...23lbs, not the advertised 21.2lbs. After checking the vendors website, I knew something wasn't right when the same size wheel in a different bolt pattern was noted at 23.Xlbs. Either way, I can live with the weight for the price I paid. China made stamped all over the wheels. Color is really nice, more of a dark grey. Finish is good, not perfect. Time will tell how the fit / finish / quality will hold up. All in all, not bad for $638 shipped.

^^^ He indicated correct.

And, you are not gonna rub the fender with 245 at a +45mm offset. It is the height of the tire and how low you go that may rub the liner.

I don't rub with 245/45R18's (no fender work, same offset), and I'm guessing the .9mm difference in diameter from that to 245/40R19 probably won't cause you any issues. What kind of tires did you get?

Thanks for the info. I think I'll be okay, nothing overly aggressive. Tires are Falken Pro G4 A/S. At $140 each, not too bad, next grade up starts at about $185 a tire. Since I have winter tires /wheels, might try these Falkens first. I'm not an aggressive driver, just looking for decent quality, decent grip and quiet as a daily.

  • 3 weeks later...

Thanks for recommendation on these wheels Unsp0kn. Been riding on the wheels for about a week, just installed Swift springs and 19mm RSB yesterday. A few notes:

19X8.5, +45 Konig Oversteer-opal color. 23lbs each.

The opal color is pretty much a dark gray which I really like. Was going back and forth between these and black and glad I chose opal.

Decent quality and finish, made in China.

Riding on 245/40/19 Falken Pro A/S, not a bad tire for the price, made in Thailand.

At first I thought 40 series tires wouldn't be enough side wall for our Colorado roads which are crap but this set-up is quite meaty and I'm happy with it. 19's is the way to go on our 5th Gen's IMO.

That looks awesome! I can't wait to lower mine, it should sit almost exactly the same as yours. Glad you like the wheels, I get compliments on them all the time and I agree 100%, 245/40R19 is a nice size for our cars. Next up is to make my brakes look a little more pretty...

XXR 550 18X8.75 +36 chromium black wrapped in Conti DW 245/40/18

Thinking I could've gone 255/40 as there is a bit of stretch. Guess I'll have a few years before I'll need to do that though. Overall I'm pretty amped with the new setup! Sidewalls aren't as mushy as I was worried about, but def a lil more plush than the OEM rubber
