5W-30 dino oil, changed every 7,500 miles.

-Clif

...and BAM. No one saw that coming.

Exactly! Most of us (I think) freak out if we go over the 3750 mile OCI; at least I do.

OP, have you ever checked your banjo bolt filter?

Good to hear this.

My wife is ancy of something major going on her 140k 05 LGT wagon 5mt. It looks like we potentially have another 60k at least although still sporting the factory turbo.

We sport the magic elixir too, whatever our mechanic or gas station pours in dino although every 4000 miles.

Wow, You drive 50k a year?

Original engine, drive-shafts, axle etc?

I won't be at 200k for another 7-8 years unless I start taking it on more road trips, scenic roads.

Went every weekend for 2 months now and going again this weekend, just to put miles on it and enjoy the car, drive , life, nature etc(6hr/350 mile one way trip this weekend).

Would go further and more often but I'm not that rich.

I just put 2,000 miles on it in 1 month(Usually less than 1000 miles a month).

I still have a long way to go, just turned 95k on Sunday.

I haven't checked the banjo filter. If I have that part of the engine open, I'll check that out.

I've always wanted the 06 spec.B. I personally think it's the best car Subaru has made. Someone I know was selling this one in 07 with 24,000 miles. When I got the car, I tweaked the power, suspension and brakes to how I want it. I've just been maintaining it ever since. I don't really mess with making it faster. There are faster cars on the road (there always will be), but mine gets me going plenty fast enough. I can have a lot of fun on the track, pass in any situation I want comfortably and still get 26 miles per gallon on the highway.

I work for a yearbook company. I work with teachers and staffs in about 80 different schools across north Texas and about 2/3rds of Oklahoma. I think I drove 52,000 miles last year. When I'm hitting rural Oklahoma, it's not uncommon to hit 800 miles in two days. Most of that is twisty two-lane highways with no cell phone reception. That's my idea of heaven on earth. :)

I did remember a few other things I've changed.

Front lower control arm bushings, 150,000. (well worth it)

Turbo inlet hose between the airbox and turbo at 195,000.

A variety of CV boots.

The way I see it, Fuji Heavy spent millions of dollars developing an engine designed to run on 5W-30 dino oil. I tend to trust opinions of experts. I had a leakdown test done at 200,000, the difference across cylinders was less than 5%.

Bravo, I hope you reach your 500,000 Milestone. Mine will no longer be my daily by 100,000.

I run on Dino 5w30 as well, it doesn't consume any either after 72,000 miles.

You just replaced the CV boots? Which ones did you go with?

One of my boots is torn, I was thinking about just replacing the whole axle since I don't know what kind of damage has been done to the joints...

OEM ones. I caught it before there was any internal damage.

I use my car for a lot of things:

High-speed test bed for a wing I built for my ChumpCar racecar (300ZX turbo)

Out at MSR-Cresson near Ft. Worth, TX.

A little bird hunting in Frisco, TX (the bird lived, actually)

Material hauler for a lightweight canoe I'm building.

Typical load, showing trunk retrofit. The interior of the trunk is removed, the base is now truck-liner painted plywood with a set of bungee tie-down points added.

Do you get tired of driving?

I used to commute. I hated that. Driving, nah. I don't get tired of driving. I listen to a lot of music and audiobooks - unabridged only.

Last year for bucket list purposes I listened to War & Peace. I did it in about a month.

So... what do you guys mean by spoon? I don't spend a whole lot of time on forums these days.

-Clif

Basically take an actual SPOON and put it by your ODO that shows it's over 200k miles, that way we know it's not a fake photo.

Because no one can photochop a spoon into a picture? I don't get it either...
