What'd you do to your FIRST Gen. Subaru today?

Yeah that's my dad's 86 SVO, its a fine example of a rare mustang 2.3turbo, he chased them around the country to find a decent one... north carolina,L.A, San Diego. Its faster than my legacy... only because it has a large T3 turbo from the factory. . I installed a hks ssqv bov, spal fan pulling air through the top mount, he had the heads rebuilt, installed a custom ground engle camshaft, tubular exhaust manifold, mbc, 3" exhaust and runs 18psi. That 2.3 ford is a bulletproof block, capable of a reliable 25psi on stock internals/stock turbo with some race gas and a fmic. He's thinking its value will increase dramatically when the new SVO mustang gets unveiled.http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u386/onefastlt/IMG_20130516_093030_zps71a402ec.jpg Edited by USLiberty

That's sick, my father has an 86 t-bird with that motor in it, its got an LSD and a pacesetter, mostly stock but he need a brake proportioning valve that seems elusive to him..that thing can slide around and drift pretty well.

LOL, those are great cars too, almost want another 88 tbird turbo. my first car was a 700$ 85 tbird turbocoupe/ automatic and my first task was to replace the bad turbo. I also did bodywork on it but had it painted white at maaco for 300$. It would do massive brakes stands, as long as I wanted. Of course he probably knows the easy mod of bypassing the boost controller to get 16psi, just gotta watch out for detonation cuz those early tbirds had no intercoolers and suffered heat sink, but they can take some abuse.

He is not driving it much anymore, he likes driving his Chevy s-10, been doing lots at work on the motor he is putting in it, gone motor crazy it had a sohc 2.2 ecotec crappy ass motor then he put a 3. 8 V6 supercharged and now he wants to go back to the prehistoric era carbureted with a small block v8 283. He loves that trucks styling. I told him to put a Sti 257 in it..lol that would have been a great mash up.

just updating on the MSD neon coil swap..... NO difference whatsoever with sound, power, or mpg. Cant tell at all.

HOWEVER,

the brakes are amazing!! (akebono pads, centric rotors, goodridge SS hoses)

that and repainted the hubcaps.

Got all the center console, radio bezel, ashtray, and change compartment parts out of a 94 sedan at the junkyard this morning. Just finished installing everything except a radio, now the interior of my wagon is 80% complete. Whats cool is that everything is now black except the dash and seats which are grey. The interior was an ugly ass color blue. Body and trim now match the inside. Wrx seats coming up in next couple weeks. I'm debating keeping the rear seats grey because the wrx seats don't flip down. :(

Nice, I love my black lxi leather interior. Yesterday I got one of those big gulp cups with the smaller bases, it seemed to fit in the cupholder..... until I carefully took off. it jumped out of that useless cupholder, onto my passenger seat and exploded all over the place. 64oz of rootbeer soaked my fairly new carpeting. I know Bloomberg was laughing in his castle, The one day I had my rubber floor mats outs for cleaning. I spent the rest of the day pulling the carpet up and cleaning it with simple green and a shop vac. Smells green now :-)

Anyone have any decent solutions for our lame cupholders?

I use my ebrake everytime I park so that one would be in my way, I do like the idea of putting cupholders in the center. my cd player, my electronic boost controller, ems controller, ems ecu, oil, boost and egt gauges are all directly below my cupholders. My ems controller is not made anymore so losing it would be devastating to my tuning, I would have to hook up a laptop everytime. Ill figure something out after I get it painted. http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u386/onefastlt/IMG_20130519_102841_zps37c045c4.jpg

Went to a local junkyard expecting to find nothing and I found a green 93 wagon with tan interior exactly like mine except with no rust.. took the purge valve which got rid of my CEL :D

And now the inside looks right thanks to the ac vent you see to your right!

I have a 12" solobaric l5 and a 900w class d amp ready to in but haven't missed it yet. Car sounds amazing, especially with the launch control/flat shifting turned on. Rev matching downshifts produce a shotgun sounding backfire even at low rpms. When I'm racing through the corners it sounds like mcrae's antilag system. the flatshifting is a crude form of antilag but it works. Shift are so much faster and boost never blows off. Ill probably destroy another 5 speed and clutch disc by the end of the summer but will have fun doing it :-)

Ihada you are lucky. All the purge control solenoid valves I pulled off salvage vehicles were crap so I bit it and bout a new one.

Usliberty your leggy is sweet! If you ever go through SLC hit me up.

The SS was about 3/4 of a quart low. I have a cam seal leak n the drivers side. New seal but there was a tiny score on the camshaft when I replaced it. Also the VF11 might be burning a bit of oil, at least when I get to drive it, lol.

I burn about a quart of oil/month also and my motor has only 60k on it an no leaks whatsoever, just the nature of the turbo beast. I have a rockstar can I modified for my oil breather and theres only a thin film of oil in it. I'm heading up to Oregon in a couple weeks and taking PCH to get there but may take another route home, if its through slc ill definitely hit u up. I found some good prices on jdm motors, if i blow a tranny before i can afford a 6 spd this is where ill go. http://www.jdmtigerjapanese.com/subaru.html

it was a 2nd gen, 99-04, from a 2.0l model. I figured it out cause i swapped the engine for my boss's brothers geo "crapper", measured the resistance and founf the connectors are the same. The unit is a bit bigger but fits nicely in the stock location.

Started work on the cruck today, timing had jumped at some point marks were off, took out the rad and timing covers, had ball bearings rolling out from inside the timing cover and then found this idler pulley, pretty sure i found the problem.

Can someone give me a feelgood that i am lining this up right. I read the fsm but the pictures are not clear. It's the crank sprocket mark and the oil pump. Want to make sure i understand it.
