  1. Cutting the phenolic works best with a reciprocating saw. I tried my 3" cutoff wheel, but it smelled bad... the shaping...... carbide bur bit.... on a high speed air grinder. I got real close the switched to a Dremel with a sanding drum just to smooth things out. the material makes a MESS!!!
  2. I got CE grade phenolic sheet from ebay The ones I just cut I got from a seller out of ohio, 12" X 12" sheet 3/8" thick for $24 shipped. I have 5 mm thick sheet coming from China for $16.
  3. I did those by hand. Took maybe an hour total..... I do have some 5 mm thick phenolic coming... the ones I just cut are 10 mm
  4. On top of hitting 300k, I finished cutting intake spacers. Real soon I plan on pulling the heads and doing valve stem seals. I just received BRAND NEW rear timing covers, new knock sensor, and working on collecting all necessary gaskets. http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/20150402_190102_zpsre3j3azz.jpg' alt='20150402_190102_zpsre3j3azz.jpg'>
  5. Hit 300k on my way to work this morning.....http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/Mobile%20Uploads/20150402_071816_zpsafyp13nn.jpg
  6. Heres what ya need to do with your headlights...... http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0925140750_zps960b3d30.jpg
  7. I was gonna vacuum form some new lenses. I made a vacuum forming table but was freatin the actual molding process, not wanting to ruin a piece of acrylic. So i did some searching online and found a forum that gave me this idea. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-400-300/569155-as-promised-diy-plexiglass-headlight-clear-lenses.html I also have the edge because i bought a second set of used headlamps from ebay. After i cut the front of the lenses off, i re-installed the "frame" back onto the assembly to hold its shape. I put the acrylic in a 250 degree oven for about 5-6 minutes to soften the acrylic and form it to the assembly. Then lots of careful trimming with a die grinder. The way i lined everything up for the gluing, i used 2" wide electrical tape and taped the acrylic from the outside and ran a bead of glue from the inside. then a good bead on the OUTSIDE followed by DAP flexible sealant (its an elastomeric sealant.) I finished off the project with a coat of black Krylon Fusion paint.
  8. I could, but the only other pic i have of the process is this one http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0922141209_zps335718fc.jpg I will say i just used Loctite brand Gel super glue for the initial bond, then some clear sealer i found at a Meijer (like walmart), which i Know isnt silicone based. Im at work right now, so i dont know the name of it. I also used .080 acrylic sheet from Lowes, says 10 year warrenty from yellowing (UV protected). I can describe the process a bit better when i get a chance. If you ask me,..... its SUPER easy. AWESOME mod.
  9. Successfully cut the front off my headlight lenses and attached nice and clear acrylic, my hid's really shine now.... http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0925140750_zps960b3d30.jpg
  10. OMG..... i should start a new thread just for this..... http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/IMG_0804_zps4cb2e24f.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/IMG_0807_zpsd5ffaf3f.jpg Between tinting the windows, getting the Hella lights, I FINALLY got my rims on!! Still on the old lug nuts, but that will change soon. They are Forester 15" steel wheels i completely re-did. Took them down to bare metal, shot them with epoxy primer, then trying the Rustoleum rim/wheel paint with matching clear coat. Insides done in simple flat black. Rolling on Hankook Optimo H727 195/60-15 tires. 100k mileage warranty. Installed them on my girls car and moms car, excellent tire. Finally rid of the hubcaps!!
  11. Finished the front doors.... http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/IMG_0802_zps09685416.jpg Window tinting is flippin' easy.......
  12. Tint is in.... and on.... mostly.... I picked up some..... I believe half way decent tint from ebay... Black Box UltimaCool DUO tint..... Got the back doors and rear sides done for now.. back doors back is 35% http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/IMG_0796_zps7d6dc275.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/IMG_0798_zpse4523ba4.jpg Still have rear hatch and front doors to do. Front doors will be 50%. Screw having it done at a shop... its easy to do... yet this is my FIRST tint job.. ever... thats one reason i chose the tint i did... that and its already a 21 year old car.....ceramic tint would be pretty expensive for a car this old...... but i may do my fiance's 2010 in it..... Also got the Hella FF75 driving lights i been wanting....... http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/IMG_0799_zps62a1e7ea.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0913141814_zpsc22df929.jpg I had some cheap Autozone lights that these Hella's replaced... now time to wait till it gets dark to align them.
  13. Since my tint showed up, had to finally fix the defroster grid lines that weren't working.. 2 pesky lines that didn't work. So this weekend i'll be tinting my windows.
  14. Finally. A project worth mentioning finished. I re-wired my power windows. Ran 10ga to the LR, RR and RF doors and installed 2 relays in each door. I removed the circuit breaker and relay from under the front seat http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/IMG_0731_zpsd8125ae3.jpg Wired 2 relays in each door http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/IMG_0735_zps9974af2a.jpg Gave the relays a good power source from a fuse box i have installed in the knee panel area of the dash http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/IMG_0734_zps34ddac09.jpg I drew a wiring schematic just for giggles.... so this is how the windows are wired... they fly up now!!! http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/wirediagram_zpsfc8bcad8.jpg I dont have many pictures because it took me about 6 hours to do the job, BUT, i took my time AND cleaned the car at the same time while the seats were out. Btw, it does take some supplies to do this, prolly around $50 bucks in relays, wiring, connectors. Next project....... TINTING THE WINDOWS!!!!! can't wait!!
  15. I got a new brake pedal pad from ebay and I'm currently working on rebuilding my window lift motors.
  16. Cleaned said K & N air filter, oiled and installed. No more replacing air filter elements.
  17. No need for an oil cooler, simply use good quality synthetic oil and you'll be fine. The concesus from here and other Subaru boards, including my personal preference, is to run Rotella T6 5w-40 synthetic. I run it 10,000 miles and it still has some color when i drain it. If you have an automatic, on the other hand, THEN i would think about a cooler. I JUST put one in from a 07 PT Cruiser, cause of the design suits the bottom of the grill perfectly.
  18. I love working at a shop. The perks are awesome. Just picked up a second starter for my car. When we install new parts, their is no core, so the part is ours, as in MINE. i save all my aluminum and scrap metal. This is a an oem subaru starter i replaced just because it "ticked" every so often So i tore it apart, cleaned the commutator, greased the gears and have a new plunger and contacts on order from ebay for 11 bucks. http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0626141459_zps93c0907f.jpg
  19. Ditched the small trans cooler i installed a couple weeks ago, this http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0531141834_zpsf58e39c2.jpg For a much better set up, http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0625141027_zps9807ba65.jpg Its actually out of a newer Pt Cruiser.
  20. I just bit the bullet for wheels.... http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/rims_zpse6c02c07.jpg 15" Forester steel wheels, but that's what i want. They will be cleaned up, primed and painted.
  21. I just finished wrapping my manifolds with DEI's Titanium Exhaust wrap. BIG difference in under hood temps! I removed the heats shields closet to the block and started there. I also removed the cat shield and the two other shields. Started from the inlet side and wrapped to the cat, Reinstalled the cat shield and two pipe shields which clamp the wrap nicely. Much cooler temps under the hood AND noticed a 1-2 degree cooler a/c!. Matbe even slightly quieter exhaust too. http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0615141045_zps87714f93.jpg
  22. http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0612142351a_zps0298b63f.jpg Picked up a roll of the Titanium exhaust wrap. Gonna be wrapping the manifolds this weekend. I had to remove the heatshields a while back to weld up a couple cracks, so i wanna just keep down some under hood temps.
  23. I got me a trans cooler and installed it over the weekend. Its not much, but better than nothing. Made a bracket for it http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0529141623_zps61e98b27.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0530140938_zps48650007.jpg And installed, but pic taken just before i ran the hoses. Runs radiator cooler to this then back to trans http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0531141834_zpsf58e39c2.jpg
