I agree with you there. Brandon's stage 2 Infamous tuned setup from a couple years ago at Ziptie made 230, I think. So a stock STi should be lower than that and a stage 2 should be about the same maybe a little higher. I know LALGT made a ridiculous amount of power on a VF39, but that's beside the point. I have raced numerous modded STis lately. It's been fun.

  • 4 weeks later...

Took my car on a canyon run and my temp gauge started to get excited, so I upgraded to a GrimmSpeed thermostat. Went on another canyon run over the weekend and had to keep off the throttle to keep the temp gauge happy still. So I installed this yesterday: :D

I can't believe how small our stock radiator is compared to the Koyo. Hopefully this will keep the heat down; if not, I'll be upgrading my water pump. Perfect fit, except the bottom mount for the overflow tank didn't make it in due to the intercooler piping. Still fit nicely, though.

And how many miles on your car? Mine has been wanting to get warm when it's in the 90's and i'm driving in town with the A/C on. Figured I need a new t-stat but my mechanic said it could be time for a radiator. I'm at 96k miles.

Any issues with OEM hose-fitment at the top with the Koyorad? Smitty just installed one in his and the stock hose impinges the right-side fan.

I didn't have any fitment problems at all... Other than the bottom mount for the overflow tank due to intercooler piping.

Ran SCCA over the weekend and didn't have any overheating issues. Takes a lot longer for the engine to warm up, which is completely fine with me.

I'm going to AutoX again this weekend so I can dial in my steering skills and make some suspension adjustments.

I took it drag racing last week and couldn't get out of the hole without bogging unless I did a hard launch that kept my wheels spinning. Super sticky staging area. But, it's not built for drag anyways.

The drag scene is still the same shit it was when I had a Honduh back in the day. The SCCA guys are way cooler to chill with and a lot more driving skill is involved.

I want to know if your 60' and 1/4 times sucked balls like mine did.

My(ahem) best 60' was like a 2.1xxxx with a 13.4 @ 107. I suck for sure, but the TDO6 is lagtastic. You could literally see the car fall on its face before I started to hit boost around 3200RPM. I hate turbo, unless I am rolling at 20MPH, then its pretty tough.

Ha, that's about what I ran! We are at about 5000' ft asl, though. I had a 1.9 60'. But, I did run a 13.5 on my old setup, but that was with a perfect launch with hardly any wheel spin at a track over by Bonneville Salt Flats that doesn't exist anymore. :(
