GEE-OTTO
nice set of shiny pipes on that table The tip in values are very "odd" and that torque table that it calls on in relation to the angle of the TB flapper don't make for "smooth" driving either. I personally tested the other DBW piggyback on the forums is there much difference in this over that one versus the minds that programmed it ??? apexjapan
I personally tested the other DBW piggyback on the forums is there much difference in this over that one versus the minds that programmed it ??? Can't really answer that fairly, as I haven't tried the other systems. This unit came to me via Japan, it's a project they've been working on that they felt was ready for prime time. Nice 1 7/8 Star accommodations Luckily I was too non-sober by the time I was in bed to notice the lumps underneath me or the screaming, strip shuttle-cock competitions, vague attempts at music or other shenanigans that seemed to go till about 5am. sulk
I know it's probably a prototype, but any idea when the DBW will be available? I've been in a few situations where I've needed that extra throttle response, to get myself out of stupid decisions other drivers make.
apexjapan
Technically, I've got 4 units available right now - the technical issue is the instructions, which I'm also putting together right now. It's literally a 10 minute install, but still need the instructions to get it right! That said, I'll be done by tomorrow. MSRP is $199.00, I'll be giving LGT forum guys a break on that. apexjapan
OK, instructions are done. For everybody that's interested, they've been added to the online shop. Just for you guys, I'm giving 10% off the initial units - just use code LGT10OFF. (that's a zero then an o). burnout8488
That is correct, only the catted sections (N/A or Turbo) are different, so anything aft will fit. We are making the 2.5" system for the N/A owners, or for future N/A 2.5i owners that fit the AVO turbokit. I'd just like to note that this is true for every model EXCEPT the '05 2.5i. It's catted section is about 3-4" shorter than the other models, and will not bolt up to a catback for other Legacys. You'd need an extension. apexjapan
Well, once we can get a sample, we can work on an extension for the system, I wager. I do wish Subaru would make their mind up, though, when they design a car... Regards, Paul Hansen http://www.avoturboworld.com

apexjapan
Well, I've isolated the source of the rattling from the rear. It's been minor, but since I've gone through so much installation, I originally figured I'd fix whatever minor trim it must be. Never found it, though. Today I took a good listen, realized it's coming from the upper rear, and took a look at the "wing" above the rear window. That's the source, it's a bit loose, so would rattle at certain engine rpm's. Will take a look at it earlier today, and if I can fix it, will post what I did. CCSubaru
kinda related but the wing on my 08 sedan rattles too. interested to see how you fix it maybe I could do something similar i've just been sucking it up but it get's annoying
apexjapan
It's been a while since I've updated progress - end of the month activity and Labor Day sales been keeping me busy! However, I took some time to do some logs of the car in it's Stage 1 configuration. That is: AVO Panel Filter AVO Axle Back Mufflers (for the Outback) AVO DBW Throttle Controller (tbh, I love this thing) Here's the comparison against the original baseline run: http://www.avoturboworld.com/media/stage01.png It's not a huge gain, but it's no turbo. There's no turning up the boost for instant power bumps. The biggest gains are in the top end. I cut the graph off early to provide a more accurate comparison, but the hp keeps at those levels up to 5500 rpm and beyond, unlike earlier logs that have a pretty drastic drop after 5200. I'm pretty happy with the stage 1 at this point, so I'm going to take some time today (after the exhaust cools) and put in the 2.5" stainless steel mid-pipe finally. Once that's done, I'll take some video's of the sound, and if I get a chance, I will do another log. NOTE: I went back to the original tire/wheel combo that was on the car to do these logs. I love the new tire/wheel setup, but it was skewing the comparison in strange ways. So it was easier to put the old wheels and tires on than it was to take everything back to stock. apexjapan
Well, just to drop this here: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RT1CX1z3fgU]YouTube- outback_catback.mov[/ame] I haven't driven it much yet, but buttdyno is happy. Sounds a bit meatier, and at least halfway interesting now. I keep getting an itch to toss a high-flow cat on it... dschultz
It will get much louder with a high flow cat. It did at least on my turbo OBXT anyway. That's when I cut out the resonator and put a third muffler in its place.

apexjapan
No, that's just with the AVO Panel Filter. CAI is coming later, mid-pipe testing is currently ongoing. If I get some time today, I'll log the mid-pipe and put the results up. Regards, Paul Hansen http://www.avoturboworld.com
burnout8488
Paul, how did the midpipe installation go? Did it bolt right up or need an extension?
apexjapan
It bolted right up, it didn't need an extension. Been driving it around a little bit, getting used to the new noise levels. It's not drone-y, and not as loud as turbo models, but definitely noticeable in comparison to before. burnout8488
Interesting! Maybe just the Outback has a normal length cat-pipe? Gonna be interesting trying to find out what fits and what doesn't on the '05 cars for when your turbo kit is released.
