Bought this header on eBay-Thoughts?

Everything is holding up fine o both cars. Some surface rust on one cars headers and upppe. But nothing some polish wont take off. I have been asked a few times where the vendor I bought from is. i do not know. It was just an eBay find. Everything I got came in boxes that said "M2 Header" IIRC.

Seemed that lots of eBay vendors had the same pipes last year.

Yeah Every time I got a decal from a vendor they no longer have an account when I go back 6 months to a year to replace the one some good samaritan removed trying to scrape the ice off my windows. Same for computer or car parts.

...but this is the problem with buying from Ebay and not reliable vendors!!!

Speaking of Ebay vendors: What the HELL is THIS thing anyway? Is it a catback or a girl in a box with a silver bazooka? No one would actually buy this right?

Have not found the headers, or anything resembling them. Tons of ELH and ELH or UELH with UP...

Here is the UP Pipe but its not such a great deal anymore. Its over $50 now shipped! I think I won the bid on it for $8 or $9 plus $20 shipping. The gaskets it comes with are CRAP so $50 is not a deal.

Interesting to note that the "new" seller is in the same city as the previous seller but is not under the same ebay seller name. Wonder who they got sued by.

The hack job was needed. The fit and seal was Max's motor. Fit mine perfect. I am replacing his motor mounts and pitch stop, tranny mount and more now to correct all the slop in his car.

EL headers fit perfect on both my SpecB and my dads 2002 Bugeye (where they live now).

Didn't forget I just can't get past the EVO exhaust note from the EL setup. When I hear EL I think this.

and this (to not show rasp as #1 result of the header swap).

To add to this, I just got my $41 delivered bell mouth downpipe which is made by M2 Performance as well... I just checked the box after reading this... lol

My first impression is not bad for $1 and $40 shipping... lol, But at the same time its not a direct bolt in unless a STI mid section pipe is 3" from the factory. This matches up 100% to the factory downpipe, but from my first check it will not bolt to the midpipe due to it being a 3" outlet.

I will be figuring out some way to adapt it and see how it goes, but at the same time I have a set of "FastMotorsports" headers, which I think are also just M2 headers. They are the UEL version, but I think they fixed the issues they had, since these have been installed once before on someone's car so I know they will fit.

First things first though, I'm coating all of this with Techline Coatings Turbo X Blue coating.

m sprank let me know how to order this.

thanks for the clarification wpmarky, I wasn't sure if it could be used like that.

EDIT

Bolt circle isn't even CLOSE to the same... I have only one stud in my stock downpipe and if I put that in one hole then the other hole on the aftermarket downpipe is about 1/4 wider of a BC... so no way in hell will it line up with the factory flange.

Time to send them a message on E-bay about it.

Not as cheap anymore, but here is one for 115 shipped to you... Buy it now, and you can also make him an offer for $50 if you see fit.

Very similar to the ones I have and the ones that FastMotorsports sells... It's just a question on if the width is correct and not like the first set that m sprank had to deal with.

Just search ebay for Subaru Header, or Impreza header, they don't list many for a Legacy, but they still fit.

If they don't fit, do not modify them, I would say deal directly through e-bay and request replacement/refund, do NOT contact them via e-mail only. That will give you the ability and leverage to file a dispute and get refunded if they do not replace them with a set that fits.

I have an ebay header I bought about a year ago, stainless unequal length with a seperate uppipe, but the up pipe/header flange is 3 bolt. I just searched ebay for a current auction with this style but couldn't find one. They look very similar to the old GTspec headers I had on my old STi in how the pipes are routed and with the 3 bolt flange, just lower quality compared to the gtspec headers (typical chinese ebay headers).

I doubt I'll install them now that I have an OEM catless up pipe. If anyone wants to shoot me an offer. Obviously this isn't an official classified ad or else I'd have pics but I figured if someone watching this thread wants a UEL/up pipe combo w/o the junk flex and a 3 bolt up pipe flange for better sealing, supposedly.

That pipe looks like the M2 I bought and installed on LALGT's car.

I know I mentioned it before, but...

FastMotorsports headers.

and their up pipes.

This is what I have going on my car, I wouldn't be surprised if it all comes from M2 as well since it all looks the same.

If you want the M2 ones then here are those links

...the "crease" in the bend and the plug that any oem sensor would bottom out in are pretty indicative...

WAIT...so you're telling me that this downpipe will match up to my LGT perfectly?? Except for the fact that it will require an adapter piece to step down from 3" to 2.5"?? If thats the case, what if i bought the eBay CBE which has a 3" midpipe?

I thought for SURE that the pre-2008 WRX downpipes were too short by about 12"?? PLS correct me if i'm wrong....because that saves like $100.

This is only the shorty part of the downpipe, and the mid pipe in a CBE setup is not the one I have to adapt to...

A 08+ WRX FULL LENGTH downpipe will fit a Legacy, search other name brand vendors and a full length to the donut gasket downpipe will fit. Perrin also sells a shorty version with a cat that will fit the legacy, so thats what made me think this should fit, they just left out the fact that they did not taper and setup this flange to bolt to a stock cat pipe.

I'm not replacing the second section with the second cat, so I need to adapt this to that part with a 3-2.5" taper, not my mid pipe. I remember it being described as a legacy having a front downpipe, rear downpipe, mid pipe, y pipe, and mufflers... that can be replaced with a full length down pipe, a mid pipe, y pipe and mufflers... With my setup, I'm keeping the factory "rear downpipe"

If you do not want to do that, you can buy their 3" "test pipe" section that replaces the second cat... BUT I'm not sure if that will fit... In theory it should, but they also said this would too, but there is no way this is bolting to a stock exhaust. I would have had to buy their second section and then used the Fred Beans Parts 3" to 2.5" CBE adapter, or have a 3" CBE which I do not plan on doing.

Here is another downpipe on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUBARU-WRX-STI-08-M2-Front-Exhaust-Down-Pipe-08-09-10-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4cf402b0d6QQitemZ330511331542QQptZRaceQ5fCarQ5fParts

and here is their second section to replace the second or third cat, depending on what year legacy you have... (05-06 has 3 07 has 2)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUBARU-WRX-STI-08-M2-Rear-Exhaust-Down-Test-Pipe-09-10-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4cf402b0d8QQitemZ330511331544QQptZRaceQ5fCarQ5fParts

And don't take my word on this will fit 100% perfect... I'm expecting it to have some flaw somewhere else such as the flanges used wont match up to any aftermarket 3" CBE, but I could be wrong.

I bought this downpipe EXPECTING issues on fitment, Hell I was in the process of cutting up a stock gutted shorty to make my own bellmouth... and to be honest, the modification I have to do to make this $40 part fit is WAY easier than coming up with my own bell mouth setup.
