mercury3545
Just installed this downpipe along with a Bosal exhaust. Incredibly deep note. Question: How important is putting the turbo heat shield back on?
scoobydoobie
If you have a top mount, I think it's a good idea to have a heat shield over the turbo. You'll likely have to either trim the stocker or buy an aftermarket one.
m sprank
Just trim the stocker. Most aftertmarket ones go over the stock anyway.
MDKSDMF
COBB HEATSHIELD - shud fit over the stock heatshield as well...be sure to keep ur down pipe to turbo bracket for the install
scoobydoobie
Cobb and Grimmspeed fit over the turbo without the stock shield. SPT requires the stock shield and fits on top.

m sprank
Adapter works best. Subarugeneration (same vendor as the pipe) has nice adapters at a great price. Otherwise, I recommend FBP.

WolfpactVI
Finally getting the ERZ/CNT catted downpipe. Got a few questions. 1) Where's the best deal on these right now? Any of the vendors running specials or coupon codes? 2) Based on these crappy pictures I took with my cell phone, can anyone tell me if that is the stock DP on my car? Or do I have to go and pull the heat shields (notice in pictures 4 & 5 they are welded to the DP). Reason I ask is that there is an aftermarket cat-back exhaust & aftermarket rear sway bar. So I want to make sure there isnt already an aftermarket DP on there. 3) Presumably I have to re-use the stock heat shields. I guess I have to grind those welds off. Does that mean I've got to tack weld this to the new DP? 4) The exhaust is a Megan. It has 3" piping. The cat is stock (I think), and has 2.5" piping (I think - see 7th pic for cat-exhaust joint picture). Is that ok to have the stock cat sandwiched between an aftermarket DP & cat-back? Or would it be hugely beneficial to get a cat w/ 3" piping (assuming such a thing exists and that I can afford it and that it would pass emissions in PA!). Thanks everyone! - Justin
rock2534
Just trim the stocker. Most aftertmarket ones go over the stock anyway. Is it necessary if you have a turbo blanket on?

Any of the vendors running specials or coupon codes? ME, LOL. Catted $300 PayPal and delivered, Catless $180 PayPal and delivered. You just missed my sale by a few days. Still a great price though. if you get qouted lower, I can match price. 2) Based on these crappy pictures I took with my cell phone, can anyone tell me if that is the stock DP on my car? Does that mean I've got to tack weld this to the new DP? No. You have it all wrong. No heatshields are re-used for the DP. You re-use the turbo heatshield. It is held on my bolts, not welds. 4) The exhaust is a Megan. It has 3" piping. The cat is stock (I think), and has 2.5" piping (I think - see 7th pic for cat-exhaust joint picture). The CNT DP is 3" so it will mate to your CBE perfectly. I am not 100% certain of PA inspections and smog laws.
