What was your first car??

Recommended Posts

it was a v4 turbo. in 1989 it switched to the v6 supercoupe.

Actually, a turbo 2.3 liter inline-4. The last V-4 car sold in the U.S. was the Saab Sonnett III from 1970-74.

First car was 1968 GTO but it was taken away from me so often by my parents as punishment that it was really theirs. Wish I had pics... It was originally my mothers that she bought new and we spend a year tearing it down and cleaning it up for me.

First car I bought with MY money that I earned...

1986 Isuzu Impulse Turbo with 1988 Isuzu/Lotus springs and sways. At the time I pwn'd all my friends till someone got an RX7. The Impulse drove great with no issues till 90k mi and then EVERYTHING (engine, turbo, tranny, rack&pinion, electrical) disintegrated.

My first car was a 1995 Mercury Sable...

The good:

-Leather

-Power everything

-Dark green

-Aftermarket radio with iPod input

-85k

The Bad:

-Bad rod bearings :spin:

-15mpg :spin::spin:

-Tranny was on its way out :spin::spin::spin:

-If I went over 3k rpm's it would make the worst sound I have ever heard a car make in my whole life haha :spin::spin::spin::spin:

My dad paid $20 for it, No joke. We put about $500 into it and sold it for $800. The tranny went out about a year after we sold it. The new owner put in a new tranny for $500. It is now at 115k and still moving around.

What I officially learned to drive on, and pimped in HS. Peeling clearcoat and slipping trans, but we had a lot of fun in it, and it was a beast in the snow. Funny but I really miss that car :(

My first vehicle 94 B4000, 4x4 5spd.. "totalled" in an icestorm, it was cosmetic damage but the labor made it more than the truck was worth. I was going to buy back & fix it but by the time ins gave me the buyback price the storage fees were more than the buyback! Loved that truck :(

1984 VW Rabbit GTI (bought in '91)

Bought it about 8 months before I got my license b/c it was so nice

Put a Leistritz exhaust, Zender rocker panels and rear spoiler, and euro quartz headlights.

Thought I was the shizz.

Banged it up on some guard rails. Locks froze a few times every Cleveland winter. Like to buy one as a project car some day.

My first was a 1991 Integra:

Have a lot of work done to it, and had alot of plans for it still, but i started to lose interest and became frustrated after i kept having issue after issue with the B18C swap/install that i had a local shop do (the one thing in the car i didn't do myself). Currently, it's sitting in my garage next to my leggy, waiting to be parted out for parts for the suby.

My first car was a 1992 Integra and I have lusted after them ever since. There was something so perfect about that generation that I can not put my finger on. There were no frills - no power anything and mine didn't even have a sunroof.

The mix of light weight and decent power over 4200rpm (like any DOHC) made it great fun in the twisties. Perfect steering feel, smooth transmission (are you listening Subaru?) and predictable handling limits are the things I remember. I even got a speeding ticket for 130mph in that car. Luckily I was 17 and didn't go to jail that morning.

Alas, with 198K on the odo my folks were kind enough to get me a graduation present - a 2001 Legacy GT. What a world of difference. I fell in love with AWD and now own a 2005 5MT Wagon (everything I hoped for), but occasionally after a few beers instead of drunk dialing ex-gfs I find myself shamefully looking at 92 Integras, dreaming of the day I'll have a project car to do an RDX mid engine swap (again, drunk and dreaming:lol:). I'd gladly buy mine back considering my folks sold it for $500.

I like the look of yours stripped out and ready to rumble - that has to be one fun a$$ ride. Tell me 3rd gear pulls in that thing aren't the biz.

WAT? I don't know if I understood a single word of that.

You not putting stickers on it made it lower? Then you street raced a Lamborghini Diablo?

Sweet Jesus...

Well when you floor it in that car I dont really classify it as racing seeing as it got to 60 somewhere in the 11-12 second range with all the extra weight automatic FTW. It did handle like a go cart though. I guess the car was speaker propelled maybe?

My first car was a salvage/rebuilt 2005 Ford Focus SE. That car was kinda like a death trap because parts kept coming loose while I was driving it. I was afraid of my life and after 1 year I decided to change to another car; which is my current Subaru Legacy 3.0R. :)
