Valve cover gasket replacement!
Shotokan1509 replied to Tehnation's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
After alllll the other work I've just done, I also have this problem.. I probably shouldnt have cleaned all the gunk off haha. So the coils come off but plugs do not have to come out? They are straight through the valve covers? -

DIY 5EAT ATF Flush
Shotokan1509 replied to ClimberDHexMods's topic in Walkthroughs :: Basic Operation & Maintenance
Here's a dumb question.. if you're draining from the feed to the trans cooler, and assuming the fluid fully circulates before going back to cooler.. would there be suction on the return line from teh cooler? Thinking, line to cooler put in empty bucket, line from cooler temporarily extend and put right in new fluid jug... won't it basically fill itself? -

Sound inside dash when I turn off the car.
Shotokan1509 replied to Dergara's topic in Interior/Audio
This is the most frustrating car work I've ever done, the screws are basically impossible to access and the brand new one is a piece of junk, the flimsy plastic wheel rubs its own support bracket. Plus I think feet only is still bleeding air to the defrost. While I like the idea of this car, the quality and all the annoyances is really souring me on Subaru. -

I took the whole dash apart, but how to get that servo out? Do you guys take the passenger one off first, and then the main mode changer one? Has anyone thats done a "cleaning" had to go back in and replace it completely afterwards, Im usually pretty cheap but may just replace it to not have to do this again :bloody knuckles: In my case it definitely is not, that I could see working correctly above the blower. -

I get the shut off noise as well.. and infrequently the air speed blowing from vents fluctuates like crazy, cycling the settings seems to get it "unstuck" -
Spark Plug Install Instructions

What a PITA that was! Driver side coil, the unclip wire & flip 180 trick is definitely needed -
Thats what I was trying, headphone jack... which does work with headphones. Maybe I just need to try again. The switch turns it off, full-on, or auto (starts playing when it senses input through jack.. volume has to be on high end of spectrum on most devices)

Wait what phone do you have? I can get this to play music from my Iphone no problem but it won't do a call through it. And probably said it earlier but will again, love this part!

Wheels That Fit The '05-'08 Legacy and Outback
Shotokan1509 replied to axis008's topic in Wheels/Tires
The list in the original post only shows the STI BBS for factory wheels that fit our 05-09 LGTs. I know the 7 spokes from the 06-07 WRX fit. What about other year WRX's? What about any from Foresters? -
That is strange on the Ipod, I've used multiple Iphones, Itouches and classics with mine no problem I do wish I could get it to play a telephone call through it though

HOW TO: Fix your heated seat
Shotokan1509 replied to schwartzki's topic in Walkthroughs :: Basic Operation & Maintenance
So that time it got really hot, it was literally burning. Now I need to decide do I order one, and finish tearing the seat apart or say no way I'm not taking a chance of a fire. Anyone had this problem? Anybody think Subaru should assist here rather than expecting me to just replace it? http://inlinethumb13.webshots.com/27468/2612792990052327601S600x600Q85.jpg -
HOW TO: Fix your heated seat
Shotokan1509 replied to schwartzki's topic in Walkthroughs :: Basic Operation & Maintenance
Does someone have part numbers on the heating elements handy? How much should I be looking at $? Did Original poster do anything to stop the element from sliding forward and tearing the wiring? I honestly would not be surprised if I did something similar, I am rather skinny and have marks in both my cars where my boney rear end plops. -

LGT Wagon Suspension swapped into Outback XT
Shotokan1509 replied to Duffman's topic in Suspension/Brakes
I was driving behind an Outback sedan a couple days ago and it got my mind spinning on how awesome that would be for winter setup. I went from my truck being the ski beast with more ground clearance, deeper lug tires, and steel bumper to the Leggy that I have to think about that snow plow mound, and the pretty paint. Hope you like snow! This was last year, after it had settled... and yes I had to dig two vehicles worth, by hand, because my friends wrist was broken. Theres still like 4" packed under my car, and his Infiniti is ramped up on probably 8". http://inlinethumb18.webshots.com/8721/2663879170052327601S600x600Q85.jpg
