ClimberDHexMods
Look in your year's vacation pics (FSM). It will tell you how to do everything. Or look at 6mt threads about it perhaps on other threads. Just takes a little work to find is all. [CENTER][B][I] Front Limited Slip Racing Differentials for the 5EAT now available for $1895 shipped, please inquire for details! berkshire40
My concern is that it would somehow be different given the diff is from a STi, but really it looks pretty straightforward in that the open diff that comes out of the 6mt is identical to what goes in via the STi part. Thanks For reference here is a pic of the part http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$(KGrHqEOKnQE3Y4Gvz9+BN7JuES-lQ~~_12.JPG The only info I got was that it came out of trans #TY856WB7JA which I traced to a JDM Spec C gearbox Mod list & photos _
wpmarky
From what i remember bout the instructions in the vacation pix, you need some special tools for removal, but other than that it's a straight swap. The pic you posted looks like it's missing the roller bearings, do you have a pic of the other side of it? (The side that's facing the ground). I had to buy new ones for mine. Part 18 on this pic: http://static.opposedforces.com/epc_img/366495119003.png http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b13/type_12/train/differential_transmission/

f1anatic
I surely advise you to put everything new. And if you can afford it, while with the tranny open, replace any synchros or gear wheels (3rd) that show wear. A 5 speed group N granny mount is also advisable. whitetiger
^+1 if you got the box open, fix it now.
authenticamd
I was thinking about that. I am definitely going to do all the bushings while it's out. However, how much are syncro replacements anyways? I would think that the 6 speed shouldn't have any bad gear wheels... I don't launch it anyways. Drew888
Thanks Unc & Berk!! One reason I was a bit skeptical is because it doesn't look like others posted here. Does anyone know the "details" of this unit relative to the others? Ya know Suretrack, Helical, blah blah etc. I'm going to have to go back a few pages and start reading up again but is there a resource somewhere that defines all these differences? Another question I was thinking about is do I want this particular one or is there another better suited for me from another year STI? -Drew [URL="http://legacygt.com/forums/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=1586"VbGallery/URL]
