OCDetails Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I heard a rumor from someone that AutoZone was carrying my favorite engine detailing product again, so I stopped by and checked it out. THE RUMOR IS TRUE!!!! $4.99 a can and they have it in cases. I bought everything they had on the shelf (only six cans, so not that many) and I'll probably clear them out every time I go in. That stuff is liquid gold. I can get at least three or four engines out of a can and I charge $60 per engine. You do the math... The stuff is absolutely incredible and you have to try it. I don't know anyone who has been able to come up with something that matches what CD2 Engine Detailer can do. http://www.OCDetails.com has pictures of what this product can do on the Photos page. I'll get a better review written up and posted here soon. Definitely check out your local AutoZone and pick some up. The cheapest I have ever seen it online is about eight bucks a can and you still have to pay shipping. Believe me that it is worth it!! _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . C O M OCDETAILS BLOG
outahere Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Is this stuff a cleaner also? Or just something to create some shine in an already clean engine compartment?
OCDetails Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 It's sort of a cleaner. If your engine is just dusty and not really in need of a degreasing then it will work fine. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . OCDetails Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 Here is an engine that was stricktly a CD2 job. Before and after including an ultra glossy engine cover picture. The stuff is amazing... http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b182/OCDetails2/engine%20detail/before.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b182/OCDetails2/engine%20detail/after.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b182/OCDetails2/engine%20detail/cd2EngineCover.jpg _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . MiniStiGuy Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 ohhhh I'll have to stop by tomorrow and buy it all up at my local autozone depending on if they have it or not... OEM HID's Rx330 Retro
OCDetails Posted February 4, 2008 Author Posted February 4, 2008 It is in a silver looking can with a black cap. Look it up on Amazon and they have pictures of what it looks like. They have it on sale for $54 bucks a case on Amazon. Considering it is only $5 bucks a can and there are six cans in a case, I'd say buying it locally is going to save me a ton of money. I've got four cases on order with my local AutoZone so that I don't have to worry about running out again. I only go through seven cans a year, so five cases total in my garage should last me for awhile. Maybe someone will come up with something that compares with it before I run out. Somehow I doubt it, but the fact that AutoZone brought it back after four years of not having it at all says something about the demand for it. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . OCDetails Posted February 5, 2008 Author Posted February 5, 2008 Of course it comes back up as soon as I say it is down. lol Anyway, here are the engine shots and one that I just have to post because it is so mind boggling beautiful... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/OCDetails/DSC01414-1.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/OCDetails/DSC01415-1.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/OCDetails/DSC01412-1.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/OCDetails/DSC01417-1.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/OCDetails/05LegacyGT1.jpg _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . OCDetails Posted February 5, 2008 Author Posted February 5, 2008 It doesn't have to be that glossy either. You can buff it down to a nice matte finish if that is more your style. I always leave it on wet and glossy on hoses, but for covers I usually wipe it down so it looks more like this. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/OCDetails/Engine-Covers-2.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/OCDetails/Engine-Covers-1.jpg _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . bigb3630123 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 looks greasy to touch..... Is it a clean shine or is it greasy to touch? Looks like tire shine on it kinda. Looks amazing and if it comes out dry and has that shine then I'm in for many cans of that stuff
Euclid Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 it's not greasy at all. It drys with a nice shine if you don't buff it off.
bigb3630123 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Put me down for 4 cans........ I too charge an extra 50 to 75 for an engine bay clean up depending on how nasty it is.
Inigo Montoya Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Got some from an online vendor on OCDetails recommendation a while back, love it!!

Guest Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Bought it, plan to use it when it's warm again. Question - how do you wash the engine safely? I do not like idea of spraying water over the engine, so I think I'd just use a damp cloth with some soap, wipe wherever I can reach, then treat it with CD2. The engine is not too dirty despite being on the road for nearly 2 years and 40k miles.

OCDetails Posted February 6, 2008 Author Posted February 6, 2008 You'd think I had never covered this topic before.... This is a guide I wrote for Autogeek when I was maintaining their blog. These steps are pretty universal, so you should be able to apply them to any engine that you detail. I know there are several threads in here about this too, but since I never really posted any official article, I just refer people to the one on Autogeek or back to OCDetails.com and you can find it in some of the articles. I found a couple more pictures that really show off how it takes a dusty brown engine and makes it black. This isn't from the same angle, but it is on the same day. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v74/Jngrbrdman/Legacy/EngineBefore1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v74/Jngrbrdman/Legacy/EngineAfter2.jpg _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . gt_ltd Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 wonder if they will ship it to asia... local spec.B owners want it badly!! This Space For Rent
OCDetails Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 I don't know if they will, but I'll pick it up and ship it to whoever wants it. I can buy it by the case ($4.99 per can plus tax) and then we can find somewhere to calculate the cost to ship it based on the dimensions of the box. The only hangup would be whether or not shipping aresols causes issues. I don't need to make a dime on this. Pay me what it costs to get the product and ship it out and we'll call it even. I may even still have a contact with a discount with a shipper that will make a difference too. I don't know about you, but I feel great when my car is freshly detailed and looks like new. I feel even better when the engine looks like new as well. The way I figure it, if more people drove around happy to have a fresh clean engine, then maybe there would be less road rage and we could start world peace. I'm just doing my part. If sending out CD2 Engine Detailer will bring us closer to world peace, then I gotta do what I gotta do. Anyone interested should shoot me an email and I'll buy the case from AutoZone and we can figure out how to ship it out to you. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S .
