hey i posted up mine too :p

you'll be happy w/ the setup rony, its nice.

my 3+ has 1100 miles on it now, and i'm trying to learn how to launch w/ this turbo and fly setup. been trying to be easier on the tranny by rolling into it some. still haven't had the launch i'm quite looking for yet though, by no fault of the clutch, driver error :p

well, gb1 never materialized, i think some people were scared away by my original issues (from my misaligned pilot bearing...my fault). basically i'm very happy with the setup, very easy to drive and would recommend it, i just don't think there are enough people for a GB at this time though, especially since some of the people interested ::coughronycough:: have already bought their items

Ya, I saw all the pictures. you probably nicked it while aligning the input shaft. Been there and done that. That's alright JSCSpeed has the stage II clutch for $575 and the flywheel for $359 or about $935 for the whole setup so it's not too far off I'm thinkin. My stock clutch is still drivable, but won't hold on blipin track launch or a hard, high RPM downshift to third unless you hit it just right.

If you are running more power then stock and want a clutch that holds I think they are all going to chatter some. I would much rather deal with a little chatter than not even be able to use the power a car has. Driving with a slipping clutch sucks the big ones!! I have a spec 2+ with my stock flywheel that I have had now for about 30,000 miles. I am running full stage 2 and my clutch is still working like it was new. And up until I moved 8 months ago I was dragracing on almost a weekly basis. Sometimes hot lapping at the drag strip. I really wish they had this flywheel over a year ago.

And if anyones wondering when I dragrace I let the clutch drop between 4-5000 rpm's. The only thing I have ever broke was the rear halfshaft. That sheered on me once.. :(

I have now broke 2 things.. Something is knocking in my tranny now.

Another update on my Spec Flywheel and 2+ clutch, it's been in over 5 weeks. Sometimes a little chatter when taking off from a stop. But the ability to cherp the rear tires on the second gear shift more then makes up for that.

Haven't missed a gear since the install. Subaru should take lesson's on clutches from these guy's.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Clutch has been installed and has 500 miles on it!!! :)

This is possibly the most responsive clutch I have ever had in any car. Easy engagement, minor chatter (mostly my fault, on a good day no chatter) and strong. This clutch is on/off but you can still slip it a little if you want, it's great.

Now, unfortunately, I will be taking the car back apart to replace the clutch fork and put in a missing flywheel bolt!!!

I have pictures of the clutch fork before and after the repair weld. All I can say is that the RPS required to much force to engage and the clutch fork was failing. It I had not replaced it, it would have been really bad...

Has anyone installed both the Spec LW FW and a LW crank pully?

I'm ordering the Spec LWFW in the morning just so I have it all here and ready to go when the stock one finally give out. I'm just wondering if I should take the LW CP off before changing the clutch pack and FW.

I just ordered my flywheel last Friday so i should have all the parts by the end of the week. I think I'll take mine to the strip one more time before changing it out. I sounds like with either the lightweight flywheel or the lightweight pully you shouldn't have any CELs, but what I'm interested in hearing about is wheather anyone has both a pully and flywheel installed and howthat is working out.

why would you want to? spec's fly is better.

The spec flywheel is not better, it's lighter, which may be better for some.

I don't want that light of a flywheel. I'd rather have the drivablility of a stock-weight one (or slightly lighter than stock). It the WRX fly turns out not to be light enought, then I'll install a light-weight pulley.

I just can't stand the stock DMF. It makes the shifting too vague, smooth yes, but there's not feel to it.
