You have a great bike. What did you get for riding gear?

The great thing about motorcycles is that even if you're an old guy, chicks dig 'em.

"Dress for the crash."

oh no doubt, I have all the gear. Just sayin it's "inexpensive" gear.

When I drop more than a small amt on a bike I'll do the same on gear

YEah my helmet matchs the biek and only cost 98dollars, and its certified so it does its job. Im sure when i have more money i will buy a 300-400dollar helmet but for now this works.

yeah exactly. Mine was like $150. The more expensive ones are lighter & more comfortable though which is a very good thing.

I have a bit of a lust for triumph anyway, but that is one hell of a triumph, and the mods are fantastic.

Now if only they would build that with a 1050cc triple... what the hell happened to the full-size Daytona? I LOVE the T595 style bikes, the later ones got less good looking, but now they are completely off the radar, and didn't get the 1050 upgrade with the Speed Triple and Sprint ST.

And, @Guru...

I live just north of Des Moines, so yeah, I heard a bit of something about some flooding somewhere...

But man, you were so cranked to get a bike... you can take pictures of the thing in the garage, and post them up here...

I'll believe it when I see it! :D:lol:

Lol, you will see it, and the president is goin to announce soon that southeastern Wisconsin is a disaster area and we will be getting govenrment help, thats how bad it is here, lake delton in the dells got so high it made its own channel and all the water from the lake is gone and it took 14 houses with it on its way out, houses that dont have flood insurance becuase it quote dam controlled lol. 30 counties are taking down the cost of all the damage and its goin to be presented to the president. Ive spent the past week and a half tearing all the carpet and drywall out of my basement lol, some streets flooded up to the letters on the stop signs, some houses flooded 2 feet on the first floor, its crazy shit, everywhere i go its just piles and piles of stuff on the sides of the roads. I looked out my back window and saw a couple of row boats and canoes goin down Forest hill road lol. The only reason i dont take pics in the garage is because its full of my stuff from the basement like doors and tvs, couchs lol i cant get back far enough from the bike on any side to get a picture that wouldnt be extremely close up. I do hear next week will be nicer so hopefulyl i will have the bike visable by tuesday. Its at the front of the garage i can only see it when i crawl on top of my book shelf. This has already become the wettest month ever in Milwaukees history and its only the 13th lol

I painted the rims Gold & black to match the stickers, had the upper triple tree , rear sets, passenger pegs, shifter, brake lever, kick stand all powder coated black. Just added my AWESOME ixil exhaust. Let me know what ya think. I took all the pictures with my Nikon D80 great camera .

Your Triumph is sick dude!! That exhaust is sweet. Do you have any other performance parts(power commander)? ;) I also have a soft spot for Triumphs as well. I've feel in love with the Speed Triple after MI2.:p

I'm probably the only person that has Wu-Tang Clan and Paul McCartney on their mp3.:p

Similar to Laser exhaust for my VFR/Interceptor. Not a fan personally. Bike is sick though.

Nice bikes...very jealous.

I took an MST course in VA, ended up failing because I screwed up the swerve (despite gunning the bike, I didn't go fast enough on the second attempt). My question is this - do you guys recommend that I take the course again (guided instruction, but limited practice opportunity + only one chance to take the test) or buy a bike and equipment, practice on my own, then go to the DMV to get my license (lots of practice available, plus can take it as many times as I need to, but more expensive)?

other than insurance discount if you already learned what you need to know and think your decent id just get a permit and bike and take it again at DMV but its a personal decision... also depends on what bike your going to get. some bikes are harder to pass a test on. seen a guy who owned a harley shop for 30 years but never got a lisence fail cause he brought this long ass harley and couldnt go between the cones when my brother took the test, and a short mexican guy not pull in the clutch and wasnt tall enough dumped it on the swerve test cause he hit the brakes and didnt downshift and stalled.. was hilarious to watch. crotch rockets also are geared really high and need much more clutch feathering in the slow ass cone obsticles... take what bike your going to get into account if you want to actually take the test on it

Take it again, if you've bought a bike and have some saddle time so much the better. Then take the Advanced Rider Course as well. Then ride like you're invisible.

Yeah, mines pretty comfy but i can feel a weight difference between mine and my friends 480dollar Shoei helmet. But both do the job of protection the same and thats what really counts.
More expensive helmets are lighter, fit better, have better ventilation, better visor systems, better aerodynamics and are quieter.

If you just ride around here and there any approved helmet is fine. If you have a bike that you can ride for hours at a time, all those features add up, particularly with the 94 degree, 85% humidity weather we had last week. I had a Shoei RF1000 and the Arai Spectrum that replaced it is lighter, quieter, fits better, and doesn't twist my neck as much on the highway when I turn my head to change lanes on the highway.

I've also taken the MST in New York. I would say take the course again. However, you probably know enough to pass the test at the DMV (road test) with some parking lot practice. The only thing that is a hassle is you really can't take the bike on the street legally because you have no insurance or registration (no m/c license). Unless you get a buddy/relative with a m/c license to insure/register the m/c then so you could practice on the street then transfer everything back to you once you pass the road test. I don't think the DMV will let you take the road test on an uninsured m/c unless it was trailered to the road test. I am not sure of VA laws.

I took the MSF course b/c it's the easiest way to get a license as opposed to goin thru all that hassle.

I am curious, did you have to truck/trailer the bike to the test facility or was it registered be someone else? I have a buddy who is in the same cituation.

Why couldnt it be registered by him?

I thought it would be like New Jersey. You can't register or insure a m/c if your license doesn' have a m/c indorsement on it.

Whiteboyslegacy stated he had only a permit when he took the m/c written and road test.

in NY you can register it without any of that. In fact I'd say 3/4 of the people in NY don't have a Class M license, they just have a permit.
