Official 08 Spec B thread

The more I look at that car, I'm really liking the exterior of '07s better. Would be nice to have all black interior though. I'll have to test drive one of those babies and see if there is much of a difference in anything else.

I like the all black interior, blue is nice, but makes the 07 interior feel a little too ricey like the Sti, the all red leather interior is nice in the 06 because its reminiscent of euro sport sedans.

Honestly i'd prefer the 08 all black alcantara interior. Hmm, maybe a potential swap maybe in the works with someone who likes the 07 interior colors better.

also a big advantage to the 08 owners is they can swap to the 07 JDM spec B bumpers without having to change the bumper beam.

Looks like a lot of 07 Spec B owners interested in this thread. I'm really hoping I don't like the 08's better. (c:

Meh... I saw the 08 way back at the Toronto autoshow and ended buying an 07. I don't regret waiting for the 08s. The changes between the two model years weren't much and it really comes down to personal preference in choosing between the two.

The biggest noticeable difference for most people will be the interior colour scheme.

IIRC, I remember someone said that the aluminum hood was being dropped on the 08s because of aluminum costs. The spec B at the Toronto autoshow still had all aluminum suspension bits and that was listed on the specs card but no mention about the hood.

Good to know. I just don't want a repeat of buying my Honda Accord. I bought it in June of 2002, new model year came out in 2003... comepletely different. Egh. Couldn't be happier with my 07 now though... probably just a grass is always greener type thing.

Just checked the local dealer's website. In addition to the '08 Spec B, they have a '08 LGT listed in stock at $33,089 MSRP...WTH would that car have on it to make the MSRP that high? Could it be they have one of the new 3.0 Legacys and listed it incorrectly? Color listed is deep bronze metallic.

The biggest thing I'm curious about with the 07 versus 08 is it appears the super easy to use cruise control stalk is being replaced by buttons on the left of the wheel.

Am I crazy or am I seeing that right?

I sure don't mind the overall updates in features for the most part for '08, but changing simple things that work well like the cruise and if they move away from aluminum suspension components will surely drive me back towards an '07. I'd also prefer the thinner wheels of the 06/07 models.

Well I had Subaru's since about 2000 and all have had the stalk, with minor improvements to it's pinnacle in about 2005. My protege5 daily driver has push buttons, difficult to use with gloves on, difficult to use by feel especially at night, just not as simple to use in my book. If Subaru is going to this type of control unit, definitely a step in the wrong direction.

I'm still learning LGT's so sorry for my ingnorance here. You are saying that 08 owners can bolt the 07 JDM bumper on without changing the bumper beam, but wouldn't you have to change the headlight assemblies, possible fenders, etc to make it fit right? Or would it be a direct bolt on? My main thing is really like that front lip spoiler like on your car and am now wondering if it would be a direct bolt on for an 08 (stock bumper cover)like you told me it is on a 07.

I think youre confused, this is what the JDM 2007 spec B front end looks like

Yep I am definately confused, so again sorry for another dumb question. Are you saying that the bumper cover in the pics is a direct bolt on for the 08's with no modifying or other needed parts (ie new headlight assemblies, fenders, hood, etc.)?

No you cannot just bolt on the 07 JDM bumper to the 08 USDM car. The bumper beam is still larger because the bumper sticks out further and the grill is different. Same issues with bolting a JDM bumper to a 05 or 06.

wasn't there a thread when the 08's were first shown, that said the new front end encorporated the usdm bumper beams so the entire world were getting what we were. So in essense we were getting the same front end that japan was getting. However looking at the pics in beginning of this threads it appears we got hosed again.
