I take it things did not work out well.

To answer your question I'm sure there are plenty of guys on the forum( myself included) that would be happy to help you out. But if you want to take youR car to a shop. As a former auto technician I can only recommend you drop it off and rent a car for a weekend. Most local business offer military discounts you don't want to rush the work. Because we are all human and can over look things from time to time ( sorry morning woodie wagon). But I have heard good things about. Harman motive and yimi sport.

I haven't had a chance but I highly recommend socalsleeper. He did my clutch install as well as 60k service. His experience showed with his attention to detail. He also answered all my stupid questions while he did the work . I'm enjoying the clutch and the car feels great. Thanks again, will be contacting you for more work in the near future :).

Thanks for the kind words. I look forward to helping you out with whatever you may need. Just trying to help a brother out. And don't worry about the questions, I am not greedy with my knowledge anything I can answer I am more than happy to do so.

Not exactly a place to get your car worked on but that's probably a good thing.

I just had tires installed for the second time at DnJ Wheels and it is the ONLY place to go if you are crazy nervous about anyone scratching your rims.

They got me in and out in an hour and tires are well balanced and NEVER a scratch.

Oh, and Star Spec do run wider than RE-01Rs

Haha...yep, that is a 225 and nice and square on an 8" rim (read...none of this stretched tire crap)

Dooode I'm mildly paranoid, first the 01R's, then the tire that "runs wider", next the 235s and with my alignment settings... I should still have plenty of room. :D

I should have gone for it...next time ;)

I have 245/35/18 on a 8in wide wheel. Offset is 51 and they fit both front and rear w/no fender rubbage or roll either, granted the car is only lowered an inch or so.

I had 225/40/18 RE01s recently and these are waaay wider. I need to post pix of the size difference.

If you're in north Orange...consider DnJ Wheels. Want to get back on topic...I just think highly of these guys.

  • 2 weeks later...
Easy. Especially with my tools and a real garage. Not in everyone elses driveway with rigged jacks, lol.

Seems I am always at a loss for jacks when not at home.

Damn I miss my lift... Nothing like raising the car to me insted of bending over to it. Plus pulling a trans with a lift and trans jack= easy.. Floor jack and a crepper= pissed of tech.

Only reason I brought my tranny to a shop. Because I dreaded using jack stands and a tranny jack for removal. In the end I got twice the bill in repairs from the botched job and had to do the work myself anyway. Seen lifts for less than $1k (not harbor freight, lol). If I only had the space.

I would let socalsleeper work on my Subie way before I let the sealership or independent touch it.

Like wise MSprank! Thanks for the kind words. I know that you can train a monkey to watch oil fall, but not everybody knows what to look for under a car and find a problem when still small and cheap!! I finnaly made some time to go up and get that WRX running I will post some Pics later tonight, of the build.
