On a more serious note ... (just kidding), given that it is a FWD and all the power and control comes out of the front wheels, would it even make sense to have a wing on the trunk?

well, yeah,

it by increasing downforce in the rear, you reduce friction and rolling resistance in the front, creating a more effecient transfer of power. You especially need that when you've got 300hp going to a front wheel drive car with an open diff. DUH!

Escort Cosworth for the win! 220HP turbo 2.0L and AWD from the dealer!

Looks like that was a Mercury Mystique. SVT Contour was decent, but only 200HP, and it wasn't offered in the Mystique, hehe.

A real spoiler or wing could help FWD by reducing turbulence and if you have a way to produce downforce up front, can have it create downforce in back. No matter FWD, RWD or AWD, they really don't do much to over 100 mph or so.

Now if it were that I would say that it can probaby move pretty well. Even the SVT wasn't shabby but unless he dropped a LS6 in that thing 300 HP to the wheels would NEVER happen haha

Does this guy even know what horsepower is? 300 to the wheels in that thing? I just don't get why guys with some econo boxes try to play them off like they are high performance cars. We all know an escort does not fit with "performance" or 300 at the wheels. I guess it must be the spoiler.

Reminds me of this guy I saw the other week cruising in his mid to late 90's Dodge Stratus with a giant checkerd flag graphic running from below his door all the way across the rear quarter panel. And the best part was the "SOHC V6" included in the graphic.   Even the new 2.7L DOHC V6 only generates 200hp and 190 ft/lbs.   His was probably pushing out 150hp....oh nah it was probably 300 to the wheels like the tool in the escort.

Factory rice...Fake scoop!
Hey now! I always liked that scoop... my '97 OB had one and I thought it looked a heck of a lot better than the one w/o. Of course, now I have one that does something, which is even better :)

Funny how the kill stories have been replaced with OWNED stories! Almost as entertaining....

I got 'owned' by some white WRX yesterday who decided that he would fiercely fly by me whilst blastin' a blow-off valve shift right beside my window and then cutting back in my right lane in order to mash the brakes and turn into a neighborhood right in front of me.

Grow up kids. Nobody likes a 110lb teen cutting us off and showing us "what's up" in front of his equally skinny brace-faced co-pilot.

(Just edited to take out the nationality of the WRX kids)
