subarunoob
I have recently purchased the lovely Subaru liberty GT wagon, yesterday I wanted see the state of my air filter, opened it up looked clean enough put it back in. After I started the car and drove down the road I noticed a solider check engine light was on, cruise control flashing and I was stuck in sports mode (besides that I noticed no difference in how the car ran). Speaking to my friend that's a mechanic he suggested looking at the airfilter box and make sure it's properly sealed which it wasn't. Put it together properly and the check engine light is still on so my friend suggested disconnecting the battery terminals and waiting an hour. This doesn't clear the code so I then take it to get scanned, unfortunately the scanner is now unable to communicate with the car through the OBD2 port and the guy from supercheap auto said something about not picking up voltage at the port(starting the car and it still seems to run with out any issues). Does anyone have any suggestions on why there's no voltage at the OBD2 port. Also I'm incredibly sorry if I've done anything wrong I'm very new to this kind of thing! silverton
the OBD ports can be finnicky, I have hit or miss luck with connecting scan tools to some cars and have to keep tension on the connector or it will disconnect, etc.
TorqueLegend
Could try to use a different brand OBD.
subarunoob
UPDATE: Tried a different scan tool and that did the trick, cleared the code and it hasn't come back.
silverton
But....what was the code?
m sprank
Glad you figured it out. Maybe the car threw a P0101 (MAF circuit/range performance) with the air box lid open. Edited February 21, 2023 by m sprank

I can't remember exactly what the code was but had to do with the airfilter sensor

May help with further diagnosis here or elsewhere. There are also a couple of codes for our engines in particular which seem harmless enough, but can be indicators of serious problems. Just and FYI.
