vei
Your website says red or ice blue as colors for the gauges. Is that right? or do they only come in red? http://www.veisystems.com/images/VBM-B-Boost-01.jpg We are now starting to get blue gauges. Lots of delays since we're having the LEDs custom made, and there are significant delays and cost increases for those. There will be some coming in at the end of next week, but those are all paid for already. But expect more in a couple weeks after that. Blue gauges cost about $14-$16 more each due to the custom LED's. Hoping that I'm not entering vendor territory here by answering these questions. Cheers, -Neil. vei
the dim may not work well with subarus. I know oromi gauges need you to make a home made circuit. Subaru does the dimming differently then a lot of other manufactors. Any specifics on this?

coxx
I took a look at the blue, just b/c I thought it would match better. But the red is better I think. Anyone got another opinion on this? "Barack Obama, mothaf#%@a! Barack Obama! I'm the president...of hittin' the ass!" -this is not a political view it's merely a quote from a hilarious tv show. al-gorithm
Any specifics on this? http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/sh...=&threadid=3115 This explains how to build an inverter because our cars voltage range for the gauge illumnination decreases from 12v to 3v(?) when increasing illumination intensity. yamie700
We already have 5 for the boost gauge, keep em coming. We need at least three more for the oil pressure gauge. Think how nice the two will look side by side, order up people.
vei
Okay, we're working on a way to do this. As we understand it from that writeup, these cars switch the negative side (like many older American cars) to the headlights. Is this correct? But to power the gauge, will the positive or negative be switched? laz
Do we need this kit to install the oil pressure gauge as well: http://www.wrxtra.com/oil_pressure_kit_400x300.jpg http://www.wrxtra.com/cat_3.html I guess the question is do we only need the block adapter ($24.95) or the whole kit ($49.95) Another expense to consider if you are getting the oil pressure gauge which I want in conjunction with the boost gauge. If I added anyones name incorrectly please let me know. We still need some more people to go in on the oil pressure gauge though. yamie700
I got this email from Neil at VEI, if anyone has answers to the questions please post. I have never installed a boost gauge, or oil pressure gauge so I am new to this. I look forward to learning how and getting these gauges in my car though. From Neil: Not at a machine at a web browser currently, but working on figuring out what is needed for the installation kits. Can you post these remaining questions for me... ----------------------------------------------------- (A) Vac-boost installation kits: (1) Size of vac hose that will be used for the boost signal? (this will determine the size of the tee fitting. ----------------------------------------------------- (B) Oil-pressure installation kits: Senders look like this... http://www.veisystems.com/images/Sender-sen100i.jpg with the max diameter at the flange being ~2.0". From what we found doing some research, it would need to be remote-mounted, as with the photo of the oil-sender installation kit that someone posted. This is very common, but we just want to make sure it's necessary, and to get the correct-sized fittings. (2) First, is this correct (that it needs to be remote mounted)? Rather than an adapter block, we usually use tee-fittings such as this... http://www.veisystems.com/stuff/tee-125nptmx125nptfx125nptf-brass-01.jpg (3) Will this fit? (4) What is the fitting size where the sender will be mounted? Usually it would be 1/8" NPT or 1/8" BSP. (5) What length of hose is needed for remote mounting? ----------------------------------------------------- © Lights dimmer: We've found a few different ideas/answers to the lights signal for the dimmer. I've seen some says it can be taken off the clock and be 0V-->12V (Off-->On), others say 12V-->0V, and also 12V-->3V. If I can get a clear understanding of this, I can come up with a way for the dimmer to work. Would be nice to hear from anyone knows for sure. BTW, someone send me a link to a circuit to do this on www.ScoobyMods.com, but that is different as it's really a power circuit to supply a larger current to a bulb on a gauge. Our gauges only require a signal (very low current) and does not actually matter if it's reversed, but the voltage levels matter. BTW, it seems as though the positive is always connected to the headlights, and the ground side is switched. If so, can the ground side be accessed? -- it should be 12V-->0V. Cheers, -Neil.
