jersdunz
Any thoughts on the best placement, The turbo will be pretty crowded on the left side. However I think it would be doable.. Any of you with experience on hose routing have any opinions? My only real concern is getting the oil too gravity flow back. The upside to the right side mounting, I can use the heater core lines to heat the bottle. I also started thinking through the puzzle of hoses I have sitting here. It's not going to be as bad as it looks sitting on the table. Thank god we have this forum to sift through... [emoji4]
Sgt.Gator
The gravity flow back to the block is critical. If it is obstructed or kinked it can cause major problems. I know this from experience. Nothing like a race track to find the weak points in man and machine. "Good Judgement comes from Experience. If space is an issue, would it be good practice to install a inlet on the top/ back of the pan? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk That could work well. I just don't like AOS's in general. I have other posts in this forum detailing why. The short version: 1) Stock power stay stock PCV system. Don't mess with an AOS. 2) Light modded power, stay stock PCV. You may possibly see too much oil in intake tract doing road course track sessions, in which case see #3. 3) Heavily modded power, stay stock unless you see a lot of oil in your intake tract. Then consider a Perrin or Crawford. 4) Race car: Dry Sump, eliminates any need for an AOS. Nothing like a race track to find the weak points in man and machine. "Good Judgement comes from Experience. jersdunz
So I bought some 1-3/4" dies, and some 304 ss tube. Local yard only had 0.0625 wall, well that didn't work so. I tried filling the tube with some fine sand and gravel mix. It didn't hold compaction well enough.. One more try with some legit, fine sand. Hopefully some good results to come. . jersdunz
no dice on making these dies work, the 0.065 wall tubing even packed with sand kinked like crazy.. had a piece of 0.095 wall mild steel material sitting there and tried it. It went to 180 like a champ. Live and learn.. Gotta order a new stick of stainless. I revised the attachments on my first post to include a screen shot of my budget sheet and an excell file that will have to be renamed to .xls, I wish I had started off with this file. Project would have been much different.

jersdunz
Since I bought a Stick of Stainless tubing, and I can't get more than a 30 degree bend with out getting a beautiful kink. I figured I'd take a swing at some fusion tig welding with pie cuts.. So now I'm building a twin scroll header in 1-1/4" increments bring on the argon Bottles. I definitely need some practice my speed/temperature is all over the place.. https://youtu.be/L1DJJOP9AFs
jersdunz
I got a little bit of stuff done yesterday. I think I put in 40 minutes. Needed to install engine so I can see the space available. I'm going to move the car to my friends shop. He's expecting the delivery of a 4x8 cnc plasma table. So I'm going to bed in the way kind of crappy timing but oh well.. Photos.. Also my dual port regulator showed up... For pretty welds..

jersdunz
I was messing with fit today for a few minutes. Wondering what the collective thought is on placement and angle. Have yet to get the angle gauge out yet.
Max Capacity
At first look the angle is a bit steep for oil return from the turbo. ut you have to keep clearance for the DP from the firewall. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. jersdunz
After playing more with It, I realized The oil line was sticking out and forcing the turbo up.

jersdunz
Looks like you're leveling up those welding skills I have been wasting a lot of time with these youtube channels I wish I Could've had these resources as a teenager. 6061 welding tips and tricks The Fabrication channel and picking up a lot of tips from the guys I work with. We have some of the best talent in our shop. I am just tired of relying on other people to get my parts done, So with this car I decided I am going to everything I possibly can.. I have far to go but it is getting better.. Feeling good about it. Thanks for the compliment.
jersdunz
I got the mock up a little further along. The Camera makes it look like there is tons of room, it is tight.. It may be easier to go with external waste gates. The iwg solenoid is a space hog..

jersdunz
Smart investment. Ya I'm in deep enough now it just makes sense My buddy Andrew recently asked me when we were doing the 6 speed. All I could do was shake my head. Cause I know he's right. I went to order the new injector dynamics 1050 top feed kit and they're backordered. I think I really need to have them installed to permanently locate the turbo with any confidence. I am going to put my attention to the transmission updates now to let the guys at I.D. get caught up. Time to get some parts over to Hexmods.
