ehsnils
My kid has no sense of self-preservation as demonstrated by his willingness to walk off the sofa, jump down stairs, and repeated attempts to electrocute himself. I got him a "My Little Arsonist" play kit, which still wasn't enough for him. I'm hoping he calms down once he turns two. Introduce him to an electric fence. ehsnils
That's cruel and unusual punishment. Kids growing up in farm country invariably have experienced electric fences. The jokes of peeing on them are real. And avoid crashing a motorcycle into an electric fence - it can lead to quite unpleasant effects if you get linked to the wire for a long time. KartRacerBoy
My little monkey has no interest in riding at all. She turns 6 this month. Zero adrenaline level threshold. I sold her battery powered quad and car. Big wheel too. She never rides her bike (with training wheels). She barely rides her scooter. It is mind bottling. That is my daughter. m sprank
That is my daughter. A friend (with CP who is the same age) convinced her to ride a water based roller coaster together ONCE. She made it through better than expected (I did not bleed) and immediately declared "I will never ride that again". Her friend on the other hand, LOVES roller coasters and adrenaline rushes. Thats the most excitement she has had in her life. By 6 I had been to the emergency room several times and had been stitched twice.

My daughter can swim but lost her grip on the handle of zipline and fell in the water. She panicked and her asthma kicked in and started swallowing water. I dove in and brought her to shore. And she's terrified of heights so trying the zip line was a huge act of courage for her. Never again.
m sprank
I am certain we will find other things to do together that are "fun". But, I still hold out that at some point she will desire some excitement. Or at least want to go for a ride. Her mother wont ride on the street, but loves to go for trail rides. Mom did have a fully built desert race quad at one time. So, there is still hope.
Dishwasher
Finally got to shine the fudge 9 up last night, and ride it into work today. Still pulls like crazy, I love it. Brought to you by Pfizer
rodan
Finally got to shine the fudge 9 up last night, and ride it into work today. Still pulls like crazy, I love it. Took me a minute to figure that out, and I own one... I had mine out a week or so ago. Embarrassed to say that I had to jump start it since it'd been sitting so long. I hope to get more miles on it this year...
Dishwasher
You got a battery tender? Cheap way to make sure your battery always starts. Have you put an exhaust on yours yet? I'm thinking about picking one up, there are so many options though. Brought to you by Pfizer
rodan
I do have a battery tender, but didn't have it hooked up since the bike was on the back porch to make room in the garage. It's hooked up now that the bike is garaged again... I'm still using the stock exhaust. I guess I'm old, 'cause most bike exhausts are too loud for me these days, and I like to fly under the radar... Also, I just have issues paying $1-1.5k for an exhaust system...
m sprank
In Cincinnati area this week. Almost, no one wears helmets here. I do love the feeling, but gawd the drivers are awful. Surprised I have not seen red asphalt yet. And, what's up with the new trend of 500+ pound men killing the shocks on baggers? BIG boys out making those machines strain. Love handles past the bags and all.

Dishwasher
lol Harley's have some pretty tough preload adjusters these days. Precisely for that reason. I had a bagger for awhile. Slow and a really boring engine. Brought to you by Pfizer

Loud pipes save lives, I still roll with a stock catback on the legacy though . Brought to you by Pfizer
m sprank
The uber large men on Harleys are far more prevalent in Ohio than Cali. No helmet required after 1 year of licensing in Ohio??? That makes no sense at all. If your gonna have a helmet law, number of hours/years riding has ZERO effect on not smashing your head on the asphalt when you get hit. Either require them or dont. In MO (where I live) helmets are required, but no state that touches MO requires a helmet. Frequently I’ll ride with a few guys across the river into IL and they’ll immediately take their helmets off. I’m good on that though. I don’t find that amount of wind in my face to be comfortable. Also this is why I don’t do large group rides. So much stupid in a 2 minute video. http://youtu.be/cg9xSzjeWIU Brought to you by Pfizer
m sprank
I have a open face helmet that I wear (not a brain bowl). I also have a full face helmet that I wear. It depends on the weather, and the ride. But I always wear a helmet.

Aren't uber large men in general more prevalent in Ohio vs Cali? When you posted "what's with 500lbs guys riding baggers" I thought to myself... isn't that what baggers are for? Being from Milwaukee I have seen those guys riding around my entire life. Edited April 19, 2019 by 05GT Guru
05GT Guru
My 7 year old took a pretty good digger the other day in a field on the XR50. The field was wet and I could see the wet, thick grass was pulling the front end around a little bit but she was doing a good job of keeping it straight. Then as she was circling around us parents I saw the bike get real choppy in the turn and then she floored it. The bike wobbled and the handle bars ripped out of her hand as the bike went to the ground she went over the bars and landed about 6-7 feet in front of the bike on her right shoulder/arm and I thought "oohhh shit I hope her collar bone/arm are ok" as I was running over there. She was sore but luckily nothing broken, luckily 7 year olds are made of rubber. But she was done for the day and anytime she has a tip over it takes me a while to get her back on the bike. My 4 year old though will ride again 20 seconds after he wipes out. He'll be climbing back on the bike while still wiping tears from his face. I usually have to tell him "let's take a break". We were in the field teaching my nephew how to use a clutch because he got a 2017 kx65 for his 10th birthday. I took it for a ride.... god damn that's a lot of bike for a 10 year old. As soon as it hits the powerband the front end want's to come up and the powerband on 65cc 2 stroke is so small it hits like a freight train, I had to change the way I sat on it to be able to go full throttle or there would have been no way I could have kept the front end down. He did good though learning the clutch and shifting gears, he did hit neutral a few times(but that's expected as everyone does the few first times they ride with MX boots on) which caused him to tip over because he would lose to much speed and by the time he got it into 2nd would stall the bike. He never hit the powerband though. I am excited and scared to see the day that happens. Edited April 19, 2019 by 05GT Guru
05GT Guru
For reference a Honda grom is 125cc, makes 9.7hp and weighs 235lbs and will move an adult around at normal traffic speeds. The kx65 is 65cc(obviously), makes 18hp and weighs 132lbs and will put an adult on his or her ass in a heartbeat.
m sprank
At about 145lbs I can LAUNCH a 110cc two stroke. Clearing a 30ft gap would be no problem at all. I had an old Kawi 110cc well into my mid twenties cause it was just too much fun and cheap to ride. Sometimes I miss that little dirt bike. Today's bikes come pretty "tricked out" compared to the bikes of my youth. I have to step back sometimes and think about how much power the machines put out when making any recommendation. My first STRONG 1200cc vtwin only made 85hp, my first 400cc dirt bike made only 16hp, even my 450cc race quads only made 48hp-50hp. My triple 750cc Kawi H2 slammed into a Yamaha Banshee made about 180hp, but was so friggin life threatening to ride I showed it far more than I rode it and then sold it. 05GT Guru
Sounds like you've had some fun machines. I told my brother in law we should both buy yz85s and turn them into super light weight single trail bikes. Modern bikes do make great power. The 450s can make too much power, even for the pros. And with todays tuning abilities on bikes they tune primarily for power delivery and don't try to mkake more than a certain amount of power. Somac
I'm starting to get bored of the mild characteristics of my CBR600. I've been riding it every day for the last year straight, minus the ~two weeks this winter that I couldn't. Thinking of doing something dumb and upgrading to a newer CBR600 or finally getting a CBR1000. 100hp is cool for a while until I can't keep up with other people on rides anymore and my old suspension and frame are showing on a track. NWSPECB
Liter bikes are a lot of fun but you will never ride them to their full potential on or off track. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Somac
You could say the same thing about 600s or below, to be honest. Then again, most of us probably do stuff knowing we won't really be able to use the full potential of it. I've never had a strong desire to get one and that's why I've stuck with 600s. I ride my brother's '07 R1 all the time and I'm just not pulled to it. Highway pulls are great. It's just not as fun for me. Maybe I'll feel differently on another CBR.
