  1. When it comes to lighting, I think we've talked about the new, 8000 lumens LED lights. They are not much money and easy to find at many discount stores. See post dated January 22 2022 for lights on with doors closed.
  2. I'll assume the garage will have its own sub-panel for electrical. Make sure it has enough power for future additions. Think EV car. My garage has the charging outlet wall box and conduit in place, will just need to have the wires fished through and outlet installed.
  3. One other thing about having the proper permits. When it comes time to sell the property, the buyer's "inspector" will check with the town to see what the property is, if the town has no record of the garage, it could be a big issue. Have you watched some of the "flipping" home shows on TV...if it's not permitted...
  4. The early 05' didn't come with a cabin air filter. My 2005 built on May 28 2004 didn't have the filter installed. There is a retrofit kit to make it easier to install the filter. I never had a filter in my 05 for the 18 years I owned it. In my 09, I just put a piece of blue/white furnace filter in there many years ago, I have not checked it since. I'm 68 y/o, cars never had them until recent times.
  5. I believe the Evap canister is in that area. You should be able to find a post on here about that area.
  6. Thanks, Infosecdad. Did a little searching on line, couldn't find much for, Genome or Ganador Titan mufflers. Maybe later this week I'll do more searching and measure the current muffler setup and see what Magna-flow has or others from Summit Racing or Jeg's. No big hurry. Also, remember the Q300 has the flanges close to the mufflers, not like the OEM Y pipe. I do have a buddy that could cut and weld if it comes to that. Over the weekend we were talking about him fab'ing/welding up an exhaust for his new project, a 99' Suburban. I did find a video of the Ganador sound clip. That does sound nice.
  7. I'd have to say no...not yet. I have the 09' Spec B, (19psi on vf46) it's not as quick but, it only has 102,000 miles. Runs like a watch. It's still mainly our weekend car. Been driving the 18' 3.6R Outback as we leased her a 23' Nissan Rouge for 18 months. The Outback is a nice ride to VT for skiing. It now has 34,700 miles. I will say, been thinking about selling the Spec B too... just not sure if I'm really ready too yet. I should have the Invidia Q300 mufflers replaced as it's getting a little loud. But you can still hear the turbo spool so... :)
  8. Just the last update for this thread. By now some know I sold this car last Oct. 2022, the 5mt lost 3rd, 4th and 5th gear again. The car had near 306,000 miles. I was done putting money into it. The ej257 had over 154,000 trouble free miles on it, still ran good and had no bearing or piston slap noise. Just had to keep an eye on the oil level. The new owner, contacted me after he got it from the guy I sold it too, who I knew was going to fix it and flip it. The wagon sit's in a heated garage next to where he builds his Rally car's. It will become his Shop car to get parts locally.
  9. I grabbed my hose and shuck it, and the other end clearly went to the brake booster. With the big Grimmspeed tmic it's easy to see.
  10. Took the snow tires off the Spec today. Cars only been 700 miles since I put them on back in late Nov. It now has 102,300 miles. I did check the level on the rear diff fluid, it may be a little over full. Had to use a deep 17mm socket on the 1/2" impact gun to get the fill plug out. It had plenty of fluid. Good thing I had cardboard under the diff. With the car on the Quickjacks, (level) instead of up on jackstands like it was back years ago when I changed the fluid, Sept 2017 at 79,850 miles. Also greased the Moog sway bar end links. Then I washed it, and took out the Weathertech winter mat's, put the OEM mat's back in.
  11. You can still get a ej257 shortblock and gasket set for $2300. https://parts.subaruonlineparts.com/v-2019-subaru-wrx-sti--limited--2-5l-h4-gas/engine--engine If you come to that need.
  12. I guess you have figured that this will cost you about $3000 or more to do. Do you have a trusted auto machine shop close to you ? If so, talk with them, as I'm sure they will have some thought's on cost for cleaning and machining. You'll want to have JMP6889928 rebuild the turbo. You'll need new oil pump and oil cooler. I guess the car has very little rust in/on it ? Will you need a new clutch set up or is it a 5eat ? Last Summer, I had to replace the OEM oil pan because it rusted and began to leak about halfway up the pan. Make a list of what it's going to cost you...then decide if it's worth it. I had my own engine hoist and stand, so that's another cost to rent if you don't own one. Don't forget to add the cost of fluids and oil filters.
  13. Spray the hub with fluid, it may take over night. My left rear was a nightmare, but fluid finally worked.
  14. For your Hub issue with the bolts, check out the DIY Forum for doing front HUBs. You also may want to look at Harbor Fright for bolt removal tools. There are sockets that you can hammer on the bolt head and finish removing it, also make sure you spray the threads with a penetrating fluid, PB Blaster or more $$ order up some Aero-Kroil. They say AFT and Acetone at 50/50 works well too. Use anti-seize compound on the new bolts and all threads going together... on every bolt, nut you install on the car. Jug nuts too.
  15. Your welcome. I know we sometimes forget. I did find BJ's had a good price when my 86' F150 needed tires. Goodyear Wranglers were $70.00 a few years back.
  16. Mike, check out post #72 here, https://www.subaruoutback.org/threads/iunno-legacy-gt-wagon-i-guess.495899/page-4
  17. You can find reviews on tirerack.com and other tire sites. You can also get discounts on tires at Costco and BJ's if you are a member. But you should know that if you are a member.
  18. Sorry to be late to the game. But here is what a OEM DP looks like. With a up pipe. The catted 3" Invidia will pass inspection here in CT for emissions.
  19. A few years back, I bought a Motive Pressure Bleeder. Model 0107 it had the three prong cap for Subaru. I bought the flat top for my 86' F150. Last Fall, I used it to bleed the brakes on four different cars.
  20. For those looking for a used OEM, My local junkyards have axles for $40-50 https://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi You can get new boots and grease from the auto parts store for another $40 or so.
  21. Did you use a pressure bleeder or just the pump the brake pedal to bleed them ? You can search google for "mushy brake pedal" I think there are some simple test you can do.
