  1. The sun sensor was dead on the GT when I bought it. So I swapped in the working one from my Outback. It does affect the AC, esp the auto AC in the Limited.
  2. Just noticed your question. Yes, they look almost identical to the factory top hats.
  3. When my timing belt was replaced a couple weeks ago (115k) they replaced the upper radiator hose. We also replaced the thermostat. Not sure if it needed that, but did it since the water pump was replaced as well.
  4. He called because my VIN didn't match the front sway bar. I didn't think much of it since it wouldn't have matched anyway because of the difference in size (23mm vs. 26mm). He said they would not warranty it since it didn't match my car. He never mentioned it was for a 3.6 and would never have fit a 2.5.
  5. So, it looks like I have a 13-14 3.6 front sway bar. Downside is I have no idea what the cost would be to send it back to Heuberger.
  6. My car has the 23mm front sway bar and I was wanting to upgrade to the 26mm 2013-2014 bar.
  7. I was going through the parts to add everything up and still cannot figure out why the front sway bar wouldn't fit. From what I can find, the only thing I think it might be is that I ordered a 3.6 swaybar by mistake. Here is what I ordered: 20401AJ08A From the listing on Heuberger's parts site, it says the swaybar fits the 2.5 in the 13-14 cars. https://parts.bestbuysubaru.com/p/49230248/20401AJ08A.html They also list a 20401AJ00A, which may be the correct one. https://parts.bestbuysubaru.com/p/Subaru_2013_Legacy-25L-6MT-4WD-Premium-Sedan/Suspension-Stabilizer-Bar-Front/49230245/20401AJ00A.html
  8. Picked up the car this morning. He showed me all the old parts. The flywheel had hot spots and the clutch was almost down to the rivets. Weird thing is the new clutch has a way lighter pedal. I didn't expect that.
  9. Mine makes that noise as well. Wasn't too worried about it, but I do have an inspection camera. Might try to tackle this later.
  10. He has done older Subarus with the rear mounted turbo, but not one with a front mount. The water pump was just for insurance since it was all apart. It gave me the warm fuzzys.
  11. Called the shop and it should be finished up today. I will be able to pick it up in the morning. He said it took about 3-4 hours to separate the engine and trans since the guide pins were stuck in the trans. He also removed the cat to get the water pump changed. Since he removed the trans and not the engine, he did not install the sway bar. I'll have to figure that one out.
  12. On my way home after work I passed the shop and it was on the lift. Talk about stress inducing.
  13. I know the feeling. There are places in this little town that I don't take the GT. Some of the old brick streets are not maintained well and are brutal.
  14. I may be biased, but I like both in their own way. The Forester is very comfy and has all the tech, but the GT is way more fun.
  15. Time does fly. I'm sitting at 9 years on this platform. 3 1/2 in the Outback, and 5 1/2 in the GT. It's great to see a few of the early adopters still around.
  16. Granted, I will be doing a friend's brakes in a few days. So I will actually be using the garage as intended
  17. That’s why I was wanting to do it myself, along with wanting to have the experience. Time is the biggest factor though. I just don’t have the time right now to dedicate to getting it done.
  18. You can either pull the engine or the trans. Since it needs the timing belt service as well, it was decided to pull the engine.
  19. I was hoping to, but it would take me a couple weeks easy since I don’t have a lot of time to do it. And I would have to buy an engine stand and hoist for a one time job.
  20. Scheduled the work to be done with the shop. Taking the GT in on the 10th.
  21. Now just waiting on the thermostat and o-rings. Everything else is ready to go. On a side note, we had a whole new HVAC system installed yesterday to replace our 20yr old system. Ended up installing a mini split in the garage as well.
