  1. the legacy has had the FB25 since 2013 model year and it has required 0W20. The Forrester has had the FB25 since 2010 and also requires 0W20. and what do you mean their compression ratio is too high? 10.x is the new normal now for naturally asperated SMPFI engine 2003 Legacy with 142K, 2010 Outback 3.6R, and 2014 Legacy 2.5I ALL run just fine on 87. All 3 engines have knock control... given the power levels that other have with 2.5L, I would suggest Subaru are tuned for fuel consumption vs power... honda and Toyota have 3.5L that are well into the 270hp range...vs 256 for the Subaru...
  2. I have not seen it done but it is possible since it is plastic, just need high temp paint.
  3. installed at the factory or at the dealer, it is the same unit it is a very similar unit to the ones used in previous cars and it operates in the same manner, there are 2 variants of the OEM starting solution one for keyed vehicles, one for push button start. it is an audiovox unit H001SAJ000 vsH001SAL101 go look up the kits and you will see that they are nearly identical, same remote, same antenna, control box looks similar... cabling and brackets nearly the same.
  4. amp clamp it and verify that the draw drops as specified by Subaru.... they call it a "sealed" battery because there is no intended maintenance to be done by the end user. In most case you can remove the caps (they cover the holes that were used to add acid to the battery at the end of the manufacturing process) and add distilled water if needed. u got to speak to them in basic terms. Parasitic draw = my battery does dead after 3 days of the car sitting.
  5. I am partial to Bridgestone Turenza Serenity tires myself. They perform well in all weather conditions and last a very long time and are quiet
  6. my OEM Remote Start is 10 years old and it functions perfectly... as to needing the doors locked, nope, it takes are of it but if the trunk/hatch or hood is open no go... car will not start.
  7. I used an impact driver to tighten down the nut and it laid the mounting flat against the car structure
  8. there is not a really good aftermarket solution yet. the OEM use data from the steering angle sensor to determine where to draw the line...
  9. less sidewall on a tire absolutely means harsher ride so on the same model of car going from a 17 to a 18 will definitely result in a ride that is not as complaint over rough road. To say otherwise is not being honest. No where in my post did I say 5th compared to 7th gen (I compared a 16" on a 5th gen to a 17" on a 5th gen) my 2010 outback rides much better than the 14 legacy over the same roads in terms of ride comfort, it has a much taller side wall 60 vs 50 with an extra 10mm of tread width. the 2010 suspension setup is the same as the 13-14 as did new struts and springs plus a 20mm rear bar. both cars ride on 17's
  10. lol does the trans suck the fluid through the external cooler? YES IT DOES so you can disconnect the cooler lines and effectively flush the trans that way using the internal pump Thanks for playing https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=subaru+transmission+fluid+flush you ranted and raved about me being an ass and look ma, you did the same thing. you go to any shop that does a fluid exchange and that is exactly were they connect their lines, right to the cooler ports, trans pushes out old fluid and new fluid goes in
  11. check battery to starter cable and solenoid for operation. lightly tap starter see if it starts
  12. Put both hoses that attach into seperate buckets get in car press accelerator to the floor and crank car for 2 seconds get out see what bucklet has fluid in it, this is the discarge hose. fill the other clean bucket with ATF and submerge the end of the suction hose in it get it to the bottom of the bucket start car let it run until clean fluid comes out of discharge hose. the other bucket will slowly empty, make sure the end of the hose does not get exposed to air so add fluid as needed. turn car off reconnect hoses to cooler check fluid per Subaru procedure add as needed. *might have to put extensions on hoses.
  13. do 2019 Subaru legacy have electric heater? I know the 2020 ascent does and that thing will defrost a windshield in about 3 minutes.
  14. 88' is 7.3ft. it will fit but be sticking out of the trunk a bit, you could cover that end with a plastic bag and tie down the trunk.
  15. ^ get basic OBDII dongle for $10 and then data log it. You need to see what the CEL is for and what the car's sensors are doing.
  16. learn to read, I told you twice what to do, maybe in your haste you missed that? 1. Drain and fill, drive a few miles, repeat 2x what in the world is wrong with people that wonder why their stuff breaks when they are hard on it...you better hope that fluid change solves it otherwise you are in for a nice fat repair bill.
  17. by all means go a head I couldn't care less. I will remind you of what you said in your very first post So....by your own admission you are hard on your car, please take a moment to read your owner's manual and see what it says about severe service. I'll give you a hint for Subaru it is halved IE 60K becomes 30K for trans service. what is severe service? Frequent quick acceleration, stop go traffic, extreme temps, dusty environments, etc. so at 55K you are nearly double the severe service change point. and I gave you the solution to your problem:
  18. use stock type here, change every 15K, never have issues and at $6 each, not expensive
  19. +1 for codes, +2 for data logging it. I had P0430 and I data logged it.. found rear o2 sensor was going bonkers on passenger side, replaced both of them. Code has not come back since and that was over 1500 miles ago. code was coming back every few days before that. 2010 3.6R with 140K on it when I replaced sensors and now I am at 142K.
  20. beats trans, never change fluid according to severe service... now trans acting funny. change fluid, drive a few miles, repeat 2x more.
  21. my setup is aftermarket. and I used the stock location as the center of the trunk is indented for your hand to open it.
  22. consult an attorney as there are still recourses even after 1 year in Delaware.
