  1. skip straight to new end links, once they are rusty and crusty they rarely come out with out damage. #5 Allan key is what goes in the bolt
  2. well count this as repair attempt 2, once you get to 3, depending upon state, you may get them to buy it back.
  3. I installed a camera on my '14 legacy I ran the wire through the trunk grommet along the passenger side and over to the head unit. I tapped the reverse lights for power since the camera only needs to be on when backing up.
  4. OK the speed limit in MI varies from 70-75 and I have on multiple occasions driven the car at 80-85 for hours on end and it never varied in temp readings. 2014 legacy with the same basic 2.5L will happily do those speeds all day long with the A/C on and the temps in the mid 90's. 2 things that will cause the issue you describe on this specific engine. 1. some blockage somewhere 2. water pump impeller failure
  5. car came in with those lights on, tell them that they need to finish the repairs, possibility that the wiring harness that runs to the left of the engine was damaged, take it right back and tell them to fix it. Call SOA and tell them what happened. (be nice to all parties involved)
  6. change it when recommended? Engines now are much better constructed and are literally broken in at the factory. follow the owner's manual and you will be a ok. on my 2014 I did not reach peak mileage until the car was around 21K miles and it has stayed consistently there ever since...
  7. things that make your suspension go clunk 1. sway bar bushings 2. lower control arm bushings 3. Top hats 4. Tie rod ends but you would notice excessive play in your steering 5. axles 6. struts
  8. you got what you deserved when you spouted this nonsense.... ignore me wow, snowflake much? Did you not see the first reply? then you came back with the above? BTW Subaru is a 0 waste company overall so much for that anti green line you are pushing
  9. ^ Dekka Napa Legend Gold or any other East Penn Manufacturing battery
  10. do a hydrocarbon test on your coolant, report back the results. I have driven all 3 of my Subaru at 80mph for extended periods of time and none of them ever changed temp gauge wise
  11. you are free to trade your car in for another make, you will find the same issue with most other cars... do you have a gas mower, if so you are doing the same if not worse when you run it (carbureted, non sealed fuel system)
  12. same thing on 5th gen Legacy/4thgen outbacks nozzle only goes part way in.. who cares? the fuel is dispensed and there is little to no smell (depending upon day/temps)
  13. I got 3 cars potentially affected by this 2003,14 legacy and 2010 outback 3.6R the 2 legacies were done when the recalls were announced, the outback about 2 months ago.
  14. wow... dunno where to begin so I'ma gonna pass...
  15. ^ what do you consider longevity? I am at 142K and climbing... want engine longevity? don't beat the pee out of it and service it regularly.
  16. you guys waste your money if you want...but Subaru never said use higher octane to get better performance... Honda did.. for the 2003-7 accord.. j series v6 all you got was maybe 15 hp... does my car run smooth? yes, does it idle smooth? yes. does it respond well to the throttle? yes. does it ping? no. do I get better than advertised gas mileage? yes no reason for wasting money on more expensive gas...
  17. nope, car is not programmed to take advantage of higher octane... I have a 2010 3.6R and I have used nothing but 87 and the car is running as expected.
  18. Connect up a OBDII scan tool and look at the rear o2 sensor data. If your cat has truly failed, one would expect the rear o2 to follow the front o2 sensor (lean to rich to lean to rich.....) I just did both rear o2 sensors on my 2010 outback 3.6R because the passenger one was totally wacked out in what it was showing for output... once I put the new sensors in, the p0430 went away (same as p0420 on the 2.5L) as soon as I put the new sensors in and got the car in closed loop, the voltages were stable and this shows the CAT working
  19. congratulations, take care of the car and service it and it should last quite a while.
  20. ^ negative, relearn requires SSM and the car to be off the ground with the parking brake set as it steps you through the process
