  1. Casually browsing IAG’s webpage last week got my parts-itch twitching. Led me down a rabbit hole of visiting various aftermarket parts sites that ended with me finding and buying the DAMD steering wheel I’ve wanted forever. I watched all the group buys on NASIOC over the years but couldn’t justify the $500 price. Missed the one or two used ones that popped up on our classifieds. Last Wednesday Kamispeed had one in stock with the had-to-have gray stitching and it was listed as new but marked down to $325! Ordered immediately is an understatement. It arrived today. Stoked beyond belief. Customer return? Cancelled special order? IDK, it’s back to normal special order price on their website.
  2. Lol there is an older lady near me with a blue R32…always grabs my attention.
  3. Thanks! A neighborhood park on the Magothy River in Arnold, MD.
  4. There is a video series on an Outback subframe replacement on YouTube:
  5. Just idle fun I’d look to vacuum leak or throttle body. But 246 misfire…maybe AVCS? https://www.subaruoutback.org/threads/2011-3-6r-limited-intermittent-p0021-code-and-missing-on-2-4-6-cyls.548275/
  6. Sorry you’re going through this. Gambling on a used CVT is a crapshoot. They had a 10/100 warranty due to issues and the 10-12 had troublesome torque converters that could cause stalling when coming to a stop (TSB 16-90-13R). It’d be ideal to find a used one that was already replaced under warranty, but not sure how you’d accomplish that. https://www.subaruoutback.org/threads/tsb-16-90-13r-torque-converter-found-it.403601/
  7. Sloshing sound suggests air in cooling system. Lots of videos on you tube for bleeding the system. I used a burping funnel when I changed my coolant while tracking down cooling system issues (ended up being head gasket) Lisle 24680 Spill-Free Funnel, Standard Adapters, 11 x 7 x 7 inches https://a.co/d/90h00fz
  8. Does the throttle body cleaning require an idle relearn procedure? (Or something similar)
  9. Here was my experience: For me, I didn’t drive it much once it was knocking. Heads and turbo were clean, I only needed the SB. My understanding is if driven a lot with a spun bearing, the bearing material can clog oil passages and eventually take out the heads and turbo too. Dealer quote was $6k-$12k for best case to worst case once torn down. I got lucky and it was $6k minus a $2k credit SOA gave me because I was only around 90k miles. I strongly considered a built SB from IAG but would’ve forfeited the $2k credit and added more time in a $200/wk rental car (dealer ultimately gave me a loaner once teardown started).
  10. I’ve heard the TMIC coupler is susceptible to boost leaks. Here is a thread about the stock coupler:
  11. That would be sweet. Reminds me of this Fifth Gear episode that had me drooling over and jealous of the EDM spec models.
  12. I’ve had great service with Hagerty, haven’t had a claim though.
  13. Yeah, sounds like you’ve got it covered for limp mode, make sure you top off the radiator directly each time it cools down. When my HGs started to go it was prolonged highway driving that noticeably pushed the coolant from the radiator to the overflow.
  14. Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Follow-up: didn’t drive much for rest of June while I was down with COVID. Had dealer take a look while it was getting engine/trans/diff oils changed today. They couldn’t replicate issue but cleaned throttle plate and performed idle re-learn. Drove home with no stalls, hopefully resolved!
  15. Thanks for all the tips! I agree seems like a vacuum leak, just puzzled that it isn’t consistent. I’ll plug the AP in and monitor vacuum next week. I do not have any legging devices…
  16. ‘11 LGT stock (OTS S1) USDM (6spd), yesterday after driving 30 miles I stopped at a light, foot off accelerator, as RPM dropped to idle engine surged once then it stalled. Restarted right up, driving away RPM fell noticeably fast when shifting 1->2 but otherwise fine. Next stop no issue. Another stop later I had to give it a little gas to prevent stall coming to a stop. Parked, checked for codes on accessport, there were none. Uninstalled accessport as first step troubleshooting. 8 hours later drove 30 miles it tired to stall once or twice but saved it by giving some gas. Today it stalled in the morning coming to stop while cold. This evening it stalled four times on way home. The third time it stalled I grabbed my phone and started videoing. As usual it started right back up, I gave a stab at throttle and sure enough it did its thang: rpms drop too low, surge back up on its own then stalls…video below -only happens when rpms falling to idle -happens hot or cold -ac on or off -doesn’t happen consistently
  17. I understand replacing them if all in bad shape. Just a can’t imagine having to do it twice in a few years although some do drive 30k+miles a year so I shouldn’t make assumptions. I’m still on originals.
  18. Are they faded/yellowed or is there a rock protection film on top of the headlight plastic? If the former, maybe start with a headlight restore kit? I have no experience with alternate bulbs so I’ll let others chime in in that.
  19. Recaro pulled out of the US child seat market a few years back (~2017), last I checked they are still available oversees. We’ve been very happy with the seats and had at least five of them over the years. I’ve had people ask me in traffic where I got them (they have a recaro logo on the side). These are both now expired. One expired last week (build date May 16, 2016) and other expired about 11 months ago. You are welcome to have the newer one, tan one I think, although I’m pretty sure I have second cover for it that is gray or black.
  20. My youngest graduated to booster seats yesterday as she was less than an inch from the max height for the convertible car seats. Reminded me that one of the reasons I went from a WRX to the LGT was for the rear seat room for kid seats. When my daughter saw the gray seat from my car next to the tan one from my wife’s car she said “wow I didn’t realize how clean my seat from your car was”. I asked her why she thinks one is cleaner and she responded “because you don’t let me eat in the car”. [emoji38]
  21. +1 I was ready to pull the trigger with IAG for a new SB after mine gave up but ended up staying stock when SOA kicked in some $ toward the replacement
