  1. I was going to direct you to an Outback forum as you’ll find a lot more 5EATs in the 3.6R Outbacks…but I see you’re already there https://www.subaruoutback.org/threads/subary-liberty-legacy-transmission-issue.566088/
  2. Thought this was a pretty cool build…a 6MT swapped 2013 Forester XT… https://carsandbids.com/auctions/KdERqXJ1/2013-subaru-forester-25xt-touring?utm_source=ld&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=n
  3. There is also one in the classifieds…not sure if still available.
  4. That sounds odd…. Maybe a bad ground?
  5. OP, some of the ‘10/11 legacies eat low beam bulbs and they are a PITA to change, so much so that SOA gave free headlight bulb replacements for first ten years. Maybe try some new bulbs? I had one recently that was noticeably dim for a week or two before it burned out completely. Someone has VLEDs for sale in the classifieds…
  6. As GTeaser indicated the DRLs use the high beam bulbs. The small bulb in the high beam reflector is a parking/running/city light.
  7. Brunzo, check with Braid. They made a 16" wheel that fit over STI Brembos which otherwise required 17"ers. Maybe they've got a similar spec'd 17" that would work... https://braidusa.com/pages/our-16-subaru-sti-wheel
  8. Here in MD the semi annual emissions inspection is self service: pull up to a kiosk, scan registration card, swipe credit card, plug in OBD2 cable then it spits out the report. The visual and safety inspection is just once, required for initial registration.
  9. SS, do you live somewhere requiring emissions inspections? I do. Curious if the state emissions OBD2 scan would be successful after putting the Outback VIN in the LGT ECU. I’d probably start with a same year 6MT OB as they lack the PZEV rating as does the LGT.
  10. Rolled 140k miles today. There’s a blown up 5th gen in the classifieds.
  11. Sweet, love me some used stock wheels! You doing hub swaps with the Brembos?
  12. Installed low beam VLEDs. Tried for 30 minutes to do the driver side through the wheel well and just couldn’t get the bulb clip locked with the bulb seated correctly. Hands were getting cold so I gave up and pulled the bumper cover which I half expected to do based on comments here. While the bumper cover was off, I installed Hella horns that were waiting in the garage, took the bumper cover inside to heat it up and pop out a dent in the lip, and replaced one of the fender-to-bumper black connection thingys to cure the weekly bumper pop-out that has been occurring for a year.
  13. Thanks for the tip! I missed those when I looked in there last night. My order already shipped, need them by the weekend.
  14. Ordered low beam VLEDs last night because a headlight burned out on my way home. To help pick a brand I read through the headlight bulb threads on here and was surprised that some were only getting a year or two out of the halogen bulbs. My popped bulb was 8 years old from when I swapped to the 13/14 style headlights.
  15. Congrats! A 23 or 24? I haven’t seen any 24s come up for sale or even to build on Subaru.com yet. I’m curious to test drive the TR but I suspect it will be too stiff for an old man commuter, lol. I was finally happy with the legroom in this generation WRX but as expected it’s noticeably narrower than the 5th gen LGT. Really want to get another 3 years out of my LGT…
  16. The Ridgeline is on a great platform. Its siblings Pilot/Passport/MDX are nice too, the SH-AWD systems give them nimble handling for their size. My wife has an MDX and her sister has a Passport.
  17. To rule out a mechanical issue with the blower motor, I’d see if I can reach the fan through the cabin air filter slot. If it’s reachable then give it a spin next time the system isn’t working to see if that gets it going.
  18. Just the hard plastics for me. Clearcoat failing on hoodscoop and door handles. eBay has cheap stick on door handle covers in chrome, black or “carbon fiber”. I put those on the driver side so I didn’t have to look at the issue everyday.
  19. Yes, finally! Ordered new radio/cruise buttons to go with it
  20. Greased the starter…. It has occasionally made a grinding noise in the winter for about five years. This winter it started happening every start. Followed a thread on here for removal tips and a you tube video for dismantle/assembly tips While I had the battery disconnected went ahead and finally installed the DAMD steering wheel I picked up a few months back. Couldn’t get the original wheel loose, had to use a wheel puller which fortunately I already had in the garage for an old project. Also replaced the steering wheel radio/cruise buttons with a new set as the originals were occasionally not working properly. Took a quick test drive to make sure the intercooler hose clamps were tight enough (BTDT having one unexpectedly pop off under boost in the past). The wheel is awesome but the shape will take some getting used to as I fumbled it backing into the driveway when I tried to palm it.
  21. Here’s a long build thread on lifting a legacy.
  22. In my experience, SOA may give goodwill assistance paid directly to dealer *during* a repair, I received $2k off an out of warranty short block. If you call after the repair they may only offer Subaru bucks…. Some powertrain repairs at dealer include 3/36 warranty on the repair so hopefully she hasn’t paid for anything twice. Yes it pays to be car savvy when having cars serviced anywhere. I’ve overheard service advisors making calls to customer along the lines of: your 60k mile Outback needs tires, brakes, alignment, and service package c, that’ll be $3,600. (!)
  23. I recall WRX guys on NASIOC would transfer the occupancy detection sensors from stock to replacement seats. However then you need to deal with hog rings etc to remove/reinstall the seat covers.
  24. Casually browsing IAG’s webpage last week got my parts-itch twitching. Led me down a rabbit hole of visiting various aftermarket parts sites that ended with me finding and buying the DAMD steering wheel I’ve wanted forever. I watched all the group buys on NASIOC over the years but couldn’t justify the $500 price. Missed the one or two used ones that popped up on our classifieds. Last Wednesday Kamispeed had one in stock with the had-to-have gray stitching and it was listed as new but marked down to $325! Ordered immediately is an understatement. It arrived today. Stoked beyond belief. Customer return? Cancelled special order? IDK, it’s back to normal special order price on their website.
  25. Lol there is an older lady near me with a blue R32…always grabs my attention.
