  1. Hmmm. Order of operations, get the fans working then determine if it still overheats. Maybe a bad bearing in a fan causing excessive current draw? Generally you wouldn’t think the fans are necessary at highway speeds when you said it’s getting hot, but will the fans will be needed when you get off the highway and lose the air movement with a hot engine. If the engine has been hot enough to overflow the bottle hopefully there isn’t collateral damage. Remember if a bad head gasket is pushing coolant out of the reservoir it means the engine is creating an air pocket in the radiator. The coolant overflow bottle can be full and there will still be an air pocket in the radiator that will cause overheating.
  2. Has the coolant reservoir overflowed? When the car is cool, open the radiator cap and make sure it’s full of coolant. One symptom of a bad head gasket is combustion gasses displacing coolant in the radiator which causes the reservoir to overflow. However, a bad radiator cap can cause similar symptoms. A bad thermostat could also cause overheating...
  3. Glad you sorted it out without adding equipment. I’ve got the same router too. Our issue was that we had no wifi in the yard, I suspect it’s because our house has the foil covered foam insulation board under the siding. I added a Verizon extender to my three season back porch and now I’ve got wifi in the whole back yard. Connects to the home coax/MoCA network. https://www.verizon.com/home/accessories/fios-network-extender/
  4. If I were to get a used Outback from our generation I’d look for a 3.6R with the 2013/2014 Special Appearance Package, probably in the black cherry color like this: Hey, check out this car I found on Cars.com: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/807299255/overview?aff=share_other
  5. This is what I’d do too. It’s a 10yr/100k warranty on the CVT so it will expire 10 years from the in-service date which could be approaching...
  6. That doesn’t appear to be an assembled short block. Looks like case halves and hardware?
  7. Found it: https://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5953367&postcount=1033
  8. Don’t forget to top off the actual radiator as it will have an air pocket in it. But only open it when the car is cold!
  9. Whiteline 20% off sale through tomorrow night using code GRIP20 https://whitelineperformance.com/
  10. Fixed before they purchased it, just pointing out this may be a common issue which increases the likelihood Subaru will help fix it. When my car spun a bearing at 8 years and 89k miles, well outside warranty, Subaru kicked in $ towards the repair.
  11. Yes it was here in the Forester before the legacy. A friend has one and had the oil consumption issues. I assumed the different final assembly continent for the car was may have something to do with the difference in quality control. However if the FB leaks in the Forester and the Legacy/Outback then I guess it’s just a flawed design like the EJ25 is for head gaskets. Oh well, maybe Subaru will figure out how to seal an engine with the next design.
  12. Someone else also just went through this with a 2013: https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/did-make-mistake-buying-cari-282280.html 2013 was the first year for the FB25 engine in the Legacy/Outback in the US. I’d call SOA for goodwill assistance especially since it’s essentially a one owner car and has dealer service history.
  13. For 2011 the only factory back up camera for the legacy was the nav unit. The non-nav radio did not have a screen, just an LCD strip. The 2011 outback offered a non-nav back up camera but it was in the rear view mirror. So I’m not sure what factory radio you will install that will use your nav camera. The link I put in your other thread discusses adding an aftermarket radio to a nav car that will use the factory backup camera. I believe the inner dash structure is different for the nav and non-nav models so switching to a factory non-nav radio is not straight forward.
  14. Golferdude did the swap. He mentions needing. A voltage converter for it: https://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5880798&postcount=5 https://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5934085&postcount=12
  15. First thought is that the GPS antenna either isn’t connected or working. My 2011 has separate map discs for different regions of the US. I recall that the 2013 system is different from mine but if you have various map discs maybe try a different disc.
  16. I bet someone around here probably took it on vacation with them. Check their pics: https://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4314698&postcount=16
  17. South Main Auto did a two part video with an in depth diagnosis of this and discussed the wiring involved. In that case it was the shift assembly, maybe one of the other items he discusses is your issue. Part 1 Part 2
  18. Congrats on figuring it out and thanks for sharing the solution. Always good to have that documented here in case anyone else has the same issue.
  19. Whenever I think a SUV would be a practical daily I drive one and realize it’s not what I’m looking for in the driving experience. My wife has an MDX and that’s relatively spry for its size but still feels too heavy to me when driving spirited. I’ve had 4Runner, Murano, Sportage, RDX, Crosstrek, & Forester rentals and loaners over the last two years and the only one of those that was tolerable was the RDX and mostly because it would get up and go when hammered on. To me Foresters just feel like they want to tip over in corners. Over the years I’ve dailied a Forester, Wrangler, and Silverado, I always come back to cars...

  21. Makes me think of the sweet sounds all the manual swapped SVX’s make on YouTube. Mmmmmm...
  22. Funny, when I was comparing parts options for this thread a few days ago I came across a used magnaflow manifold on eBay. Seller has been lowering the price every couple days and eBay has been alerting me. It’s now $178 with free shipping...might want to research it a little if you haven’t decided yet: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F283774486993
  23. I have no experience with them. I was just shopping by warranty, not that anyone would want to have to swap out a rusted replacement part every two years....
  24. If I was going to DIY a stock system, Walker makes a replacement axleback muffler with lifetime warranty, available from local auto parts stores. But their mid pipe only has a one year warranty. So I’d probably look elsewhere for a replacement mid pipe, maybe even oem since the original made it almost ten years. I would avoid purchasing from an online only vendor if the warranty requires returning the original failed item.
  25. Thread on the rear sway bar. I installed the Whiteline 22mm myself in driveway on ramps, it came with new bushings. However, expect to change the end links too as any exposure to road salt renders them stuck to the original sway bar. https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/rear-sway-bar-upgrades-summary-278949.html?t=278949
