  1. Yeah we have suffered from Toyota influence for 10 years now starting with the BM chassis Legacy. Look at all the model changes starting in MY10 forward. You may notice 2 things: a reduction in any thing "fun" and bloated blandness The WRX is the last "sporty" model and it even is vanilla in the current year models across the segment.
  2. That GTO is a dream! I was a huge N-Body guy, I had a 97 Grand-Am GT 5MT and in 2008 I passed on a GTO at RK Chevrolet down in the 757 area and instead bought a brand new 08 2.5i Sedan from them. Here I am 3 Legacys later (1 2.5i and 2 LGTs) nice collection of cars over the years!
  3. Prior to tuning or rather paying for Dyno time to see if I want to Pro-Tune, I was wondering if yall could look at these two logs for any major items. I have been running COBB AP Stage 2 91 OCT for two years and I always run 93OCT. Mods are a Shorty DP (Divorced top section mated to stock cat section) and the COBB AP. Ive replaced the AFR and O2 with new DENSO sensors, haven't touched the plugs (I will have them done at my next oil change in about 300 miles from now). Any feedback is great! My goals for tuning are to add a few parts for efficiency, a Full Divorced DP (GS) and a VF52 since the replacement VF46 has about 130K miles on it. Stock fueling is fine but I wouldn't mind broadening the power and torque plots Thanks 08LGT_Log1.csv 08LGT_Log2.csv
  4. You are being too cheap This is your son's car that you want to have as few issues with as possible, for both yalls sake Keep your eye out for a salvaged 05-09 Outback or 05-06 Legacy Wagon (GT or 2.5i) and take the whole assemblies off if the mileage is decent (to keep within your budget). Or Buy all four new struts and a pair of rear coil springs and replace the unknown suspension for an OEM-like setup to eliminate a worry. The spacers barely help on a sedan with sag with stock suspension, if that helps you any. For a slight rake you would need to lower the front and run spacers.
  5. This is the best option and there are newer Subarus or other vehicles to be had for $9k down/outright:redface:
  6. Nice quilting inside and dip job outside. Mod list is impressive as well GLWS!
  7. I had this problem, took it back to the tire shop 4 times to successfully pair the new sensor up. I would note that I didn't go with OEM sensors and I suspect that was the problem, but it is likely a paring issue IF the tire holds pressure.
  8. Falling on its face = no boost. The lack of boost is probably being caused by the CHRA contacting the housing b/c it has failed, that can of BBs sound you mentioned. The turbo isn't boosting, the ECU is operating based on various inputs it expects to be present, boost is one of them. Might want to check the turbo and def do not drive it.
  9. Too bad you are starting with a N/A H4 05 Legacy vs a H6 05 Legacy. It would be easier to swap a MT into that than to swap a H6 and 6MT into the 2.5i. Have you considered a EG33 over the EZ30D?
  10. If you keep tinkering and then attempt a warranty claim against the area/parts you have been tinkering on the Dealer may deny the claim. If the car is under full warranty as lame as it sounds, you need to force the dealer to service/correct the product they sold. That is literally one of the few reasons dealers exist. You could have bought a Honda or Toytoa or Lexus but you bought a Subaru from that dealer so they need to do their part and ensure your shiny new purchase doesnt drive you insane to the point you start telling other people how crappy your legacy is and how useless that dealer is at resolving the problem.
  11. Yeah mine are Machined Face and peeling Is there a service/vendor that you recommend to replace/refinish my OEM wheels? Sorry to thread-jack
  12. What is the difference? I ask b/c my 08 LGT wheels could use some updating but really I just want them back to original fit/finish and have been exploring the various wheel replacement services.
  13. The first 05 is a solid no, the last 05 could work IF the engine was replaced responsibly and you really want a cheap BL LGT and dont mind the styling (05-07 vs 08-09). The Spec.B could be nice if the price came down and its insurable the 07 is the best on paper option. But go look and touch and drive and smell the one you really want, yes SMELL LGT when running fine, is the best car you'll ever know, but when all those seals and gaskets and hoses start rotting and leaking, one-by-one you can easily rack up hundreds in repairs and diagnosis fees. Take a Subaru Savvy person with you Also consider taking that $5k-$7K and buying an updated Subaru if you don't mind the styling.
  14. Had one fail like that on my 09 LGT it was not OEM it was Gates the other was OEM the car had 91k miles on it at the time(2012). I imagine the previous owner swapped that OCV cheaply then traded it to the dealer I bought it from. I now have 191K miles on my 08 LGT Passenger side OCV is still going issue free the driver side started leaking at 186K miles. Spend the money on the OCV
  15. Howdy, I know this isn't the most exciting topic but I have ~120K miles on my second (bought with 90K miles on the clock) VF46, (first one lasted 161K miles) it's not failing, but I want to replace it on my terms vs it dying. I have the option of a stock VF52 or a PnP VF46 (Hot and Cold side). I would have my tune altered for either option, but I also do not want to touch the stock fueling system. On one hand I think the slightly larger 52 would run more efficiently on the other hand a PnP 46 might not be that far off from a stock 52. Which one would y'all pick?
  16. What prob happened is the Sea Foam did its jobs and all that crap went out the exhaust ports and is contributing to the clogged condition
  17. If you have the smell its prob the cat! that smell is what the catalyst substrate smells like as is burns. If looking for a replacement go with OEM, BOSAL or WALKER.
  18. I'll have to check it out when I bring my GT in for an oil change. Are you going to mock up some Mach V Awesome Wheels on it?
  19. Have you ever replaced the catalytic converter section on that car? If you look underneath the car its the part of the exhaust with two bulges after the Y shaped exhaust manifold. If it looks newer than the rest of the exhaust it may have been replaced with a cheap unit, if it looks original it might be clogged/failing. If this oscillation is associated to a vibration it could be something on the engine e.g. accessory drive pulley or something in the drivetrain e.g. diff, hub, gearbox bearing.
