  1. As I have said numerous times, and I don't visit here enough anymore due to time restraints, but this is the best car community there is. I'm on several other forums and rarely do I see any brothers stepping up to help out another brother if there is an issue, and to see all of the support from the people on LGT makes me KNOW I've not been wrong in my assumptions. Mr. Shralp-your track car will continue to live and the generosity of all of OUR brothers on this forum is recognized, noticed, and appreciated by all involved.
  2. In reading more through this thread, it looks like you've got some folks with decent parts much closer to you than I. Look at all the muscle cars out there now with flat black hoods and seriously consider. It's your track car and it would look fine if you do the prep work and shoot it yourself with flat black. You could even do the tailgate to match and I would use Plasti-Dip because you can use tire dressing on it to keep it fresh and black.
  3. Man, so sorry to see this. Just glad you're OK. Car can be replaced. Shralp can NOT be replaced. I have an extra RBP hood and bumper cover, but I'm just a bit far away to be able to send it to you, unless you can't find anything else. Let me know if you truly need it and we'll figure it out.
  4. Thanks from csaari: Actually, I believe that 72131AG24A is the vent mode actuator for the 2006-2009 cars. 72131AG27A should be the driver's blend actuator for 2006-2009. There have been discussions about why there are actuators listed for the 2005 cars, and then different ones for 2006-2009, and nobody's ever confirmed or denied that they are interchangeable. Well, I just found a thread on another forum where someone used 72131AG27A in place of 72131AG12A on an '05 Outback successfully. https://www.subaruoutback.org/thread...tuator.501527/ And also thanks to jaylew: I can confirm that it works. I put 72131AG27A in my '05 about 3 weeks ago. Temp changes as expected and best of all...quietly The 2 actuators that are "easy" to get to are the passenger temp and the mode actuator. The outside air/ inside air and driver temp require dash out. Taking the dash out honestly isn't hard
  5. As RacerX says, bung on oil pan and I completely agree. That's how we measure on race cars too. That way, your sensor is right in the thick of the oil rather than having fast flowing past the sensor. Simple to do and will always be consistent unless you run it completely out of oil.
  6. Previous owner might have slammed it in the past. Camber is most likely why your tires are wearing on the inside edge. Put a level on each wheel and see how far off it is. I would most likely bet it's significant.
  7. Put this in your DS OCV banjo bolt hole and then use adapters to fit your OTS. https://indyautoracing.com/12mm-x-1-25-banjo-bolt-w-1-8in-npt-port/?gclid=CjwKCAjwvuGJBhB1EiwACU1Aidjbk4jYV-MYY0iQ2iXiC0UxDCBDwbnmbWwqEZgTlC5q0o7vmKi-EhoCVmUQAvD_BwE
  8. Have someone drive next to you on the highway and see if the wheels are bouncing. It could possibly be struts. Even though only 50K on them, they still could be bad and I've seen that be the absolute issue on a couple of other vehicles before, one of them with virtually new struts.
  9. OP-there are a number of IHI turbos that are virtually the same using the same components internally with different aesthetics. You'll be fine with that turbo on your car as long as the turbo is good.
  10. Find a VF52 core and send it to me and I'll build you one that's far better all around than the BNR.
  11. Spend your money on suspension, brakes, wheels/tires, and enjoy it. Spending money on the engine is a foolish never-ending quest and will give you more heartache than your wallet can handle.
  12. Love hate relationship with Subarus. Love to drive it, hate the niggling little things, love the looks it gets from people, hate the lousy gas mileage, love the way it handles, hate the lowness sometimes.......on and on. You know the drill. It's yours, it's no one else's, and how often can you say that about a car? I'm keeping mine (purchased new in 10/24/04) basically forever having done a lot like you to make it mine and because having a couple of other cars (2014 Mustang with a TON of track mods done, and wife's Forester along with 2 Chrysler minivans <Shut UP Byron>), the Subaru is civil and comfortable to drive while the Mustang is a beast and not as comfortable to drive. Good call to bring it to discussion as you get to hear from every vantage point. Good luck with your final decision.
  13. Fuel pressure? I have seen the O2 do exactly what you describe without setting a CEL, and my first place would have been there. Front O2 can also cause surging, showing STFT and LTFT bouncing all over the place, again, without setting CEL. I would check fuel pressure and make sure it's consistent. The other weird thing I've seen is TB getting very hot and stretching and slapping around inside the covers. I've seen it on a couple of Subarus and also on a couple of other cars, so depending on how old your TB is, that might be something to explore.
  14. Didn't see this thread until just now. Nederland CO and down to camp at Lily Lake near Estes Park. Tons of trails to hike in RMNP plus civilization is not far away if you need it. A lot of climbing areas too have great trails around them (you don't have to climb but the trails are nice) just outside of Boulder and up Boulder Canyon and on into Lyons. Tube the creek in Lyons and then go up the canyon to Nederland.
  15. He ran that at US131 Motorsports Park in Martin Michigan. I'm about 25 miles from there and boxkita has relatives up near Martin. I'll have to go out there some time and see what's going on. I haven't been to a drag race since we had our cars in the 90's.
  16. Can you explain a bit more about the 9 Drive? I'm not familiar with this and if you have a link, please post it in my IDEA sticky above. If this is a cool upgrade, I'm sure a lot of people would like to know more about it too.
  17. ^^^El Camonito Del Rey except it's not like that anymore. They've built a completely new trail over the top of the old one. There is video of the old trail (built in 1905) with a hiker wearing a go-pro camera. I think the video on youtube is called "the most dangerous hiking trail in the world" or something like that. I've always wanted to go, but alas, never had the time.
  18. Nice work on chasing it down. IF more would do what you did, there would be a lot less aggravation in questions on the forum. Obviously it stresses the importance we all know of zip tying our hoses in place.
  19. You love him and you know it. LOL
