PeterJMC
Does anyone know if Subaru published their sales volumes on '05 and '06 LGTs and OBs? A breakdown on sedan and wagon would be helpful too. Just gathering market info to make my case to push the project through Europe. I spoke yesterday briefly to the European product manager and he is somewhat interested in the project but numbers make the business case for it.
You can get the sales reports from here... rexster
... And Yuckbecca did 4,947 so far this year, and 14,797 in '05. ...
:lol::lol::lol::lol: konis and pinks!!! hellz yeah!!!! now some smart person should buy a handful of 05 struts and have a shock core exchange service. i will gladly pay a little extra for a shock with the insert in it already. something like Teagues Auto does for the wrx. putting inserts in is a PITA!!! REM87O
I spoke with Lee today and he is working on it. They have a couple of projects they have to get done before they start this one. (crossing fingers) Maybe ours will be next? (knocking on wood)

And hopefully they will work on them for the Outback as well as the Legacy!
flatsphere
I would also be very interested in a set for my 05 Outback. Lee, please keep us posted and thanks! Cheer!
Th3Franz
Yeah the graphs in the first post have compression and rebound reversed... Would Koni come out with a set that is designed to work with a spring that lowers about 1" ? I know many Koni struts are designed to work with stock ride height. Interesting how KW struts with the highest rebound adjustment are almost identical to the bilsteins... Hm.. :) -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz

The ratio of people who buy lowering springs and struts vs. the people who buy non-lowering springs and struts has got to be greater than 1:1. I would think more like 3:1. I forgot what I was supposed to remember.
vel0mac
Probably because lowering springs and struts are more common? If you look at an Audi they typically don't look like they have been lowered - they have a nice ride height and even fender gaps. You don't need lowering to improve handling.
This is a very good point. Since here we are talking about function as the primary consideration (otherwise, one could just go buy some other stuff if form were the primary consideration), not only is it unnecessary to lower a car to improve its handling, but lowering may screw up other suspension parts as the ride and travel will be outside the designed range. And overly stiffening the car (typically occurs when lowering it so that it does not bottom out all the time) will also stress other parts of the car more than initially intended, which will cause things to start rattling and wearing out sooner, etc... None of this even touches on the point that lowering a car can void the warrantee. Maybe for some folks who swap out cars often these points are not worth consideration, but for those who want to keep the car for a long time, it does matter. I would imagine that a company like Koni, who sell lots of aftermarket shocks for lots of cars, would not want to be held responsible (or even insinuated in any responsibility) with screwing up someone's car. Rather, I would think that they would want to be known for improving the car.

OB Lee
Would Koni come out with a set that is designed to work with a spring that lowers about 1" ? I know many Koni struts are designed to work with stock ride height.
Since the dampers will be not position sensative (needing to be in a specific part of the stroke range to make proper forces- ala Monroe Sensatrac), most applications that Koni makes will work fine from stock ride height down to 1.5-2.0+ inches of lowering. The more you lower the car, the more you tend to raise the spring rate thus requiring more rebound damping to control the spring. Since almost all Konis are rebound dampoing adjustable with a large range of about 100% from min to max, this amount of spring rate change is not problem whatsoever and normally can be dealt with in the bottom half of the adjustment range. Because many people are asking for status and updates, I will start a fresh thread on the Koni status and stop stealing this thread from it's origianl intended purpose.
