DOHCEJ22E1
The idea is to enjoy your car however you see fit. That is why I believe that any money going into your car isn't wasted if you're a car guy like us, no matter what kind of car it is. If you love your car & love working on it, every $$$ spent on it isn't enough!

2point5GT_Dan
Man you must work on cars for a living! Great work great pics. Thanks for sharing! I work about 50 hours a week doing IT. i would think that this is a waste of time and money car. i bet your way past you 3k on this car and could have bought one in better condition than this 600$ rust bucket. I have seen subaru brats in better condition for 600$. I mean nice work but i would do this on muscle cars, not a subaru!!! Haters gonna hate. 600 car 800 motor 300 timing kit +wp 300 for struts 40 for fender 125 rear subframe was essentially free because I sold parts I got at the JY to cover it. So essentially 2k + factor in misc crap (fluids, bulbs, mig gas) a couple hundred bucks. 2500 all said and done. Paid off. Between the race car and this one I pay 60 dollars a month insurance. Takes 87. Is cheap and comfortable for driving on long trips. It's a beater that I don't care if it gets hit in the parking garage.
2point5GT_Dan
Sawzall + dash. Dash back in. It fits great. We didn't lose any vents, just clearanced the corners. 10 mile test drive.
2point5GT_Dan
Flew in Friday night from my business trip. Got to the shop at 9pm. Dad was sick with the flu and when I showed up at the shop and he was working on getting the belts in. Got the car on the trailer in -2 degree weather around midnight. Up at 4:30 am saturday to drive a few hours away. Got used to that view pretty quick. Need to figure out why tow/haul mode is busted on the 05 two fiddy Car unloaded. Finished out the day lookin' dirty: Full album of action shots are on the facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SiFmotorsports So I got my ass kicked all day. Came in dead last. Between the bald tires from 2004 and the fucked up rear suspension the car just had NO traction on frozen iced over grass. The team captain was not impressed: This weekend I hope to fix the rear suspension and I'm picking up a set of snow tires for 150. I skipped out on buying snow tires for it this year because I didn't expect to do any rallyx events, oops.
987687
What that picture doesn't capture is that it was still about 15 degrees in the garage, and my hands were somewhat sad about it... It's gonna rule when it's warmer and we can really get this thing done and ready to race.

2point5GT_Dan
Probably should update this. This is gonna be a lot of cut and paste from the other site I post on. Replaced the endlinks on the legacy. Measured the RS for decals. Bought snow tires for the RS. Found my O2 sensor for the legacy and my knock sensor for the RS. Cleaned out the legacy. After all the storm bullshit, today was really nice, drove around with the sunroof tipped up all afternoon. Enjoyed the comfort of the legacy. Still need to either get better offset rims or spacers. Also need to figure out why the **** the rear end is so saggy. RS decals. Loading this slut up with computer equipment to drive around new england for work last week: Decided to do the rear O2 sensor today to try and get rid of the P0420 code. Got the o2 sensor socket on and broke my last u joint. Tried hammering the socket around but it wouldn't budge. Heated the bung up cherry red. Broke the bung off. Dropped the exhaust. Booger welded the bung back on and got the new O2 sensor in: It actually worked out well, because the shitty rock auto header gaskets were leaking at the cyl head. I had RTV'd them to pass inspection but it wasn't cutting it. Went to the dealer this afternoon to get my snow tires mounted for the RS and get new nice gaskets. Got the exhaust back on. Welded up one of my broken hangers. Got the new gaskets in. Everything good to go. Go to clear the code and the legacy didn't want to start. Get it going again and the airbag and ABS lights stayed on longer than normal. ABS light is still on. Didn't do the trick to get the DTCs, but tomorrow I'm going to pull the battery and see if that clears it, then get the DTCs. Also put the new snows on the legacy and they're balanced fine, just noiser than the DSWs, which are on the RS just to hold it up and to pass inspection. The car looks so boring without the snowflake rims. Also did this with the android torque app on the way home tonight: Sllllloooowwwwwwww
2point5GT_Dan
Oh hey I did some things. Got the STi struts on. Got the car inspected. Drove it to work, then 2 hours to rallycross. Only had two issues. Throttle stuck open and my brake caliper bracket bent. ChrisGT fixed both issues because I are racecar driver. Pictures from being a slut at the rallyx. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8228/8545897880_0bca9fd444_o.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8517/8545922588_1307d59882_o.jpg http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/o788/mybluetl/Slip%20and%20Slide%20AWD%203-9-13/IMG_1128_zps9deafe69.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8378/8545938996_eb9065b372_o.jpg Suspension started making some noise. The sti stuff is coming off for forester take offs so I can run that while I build up the STi stuff for stage. Still need to put the interior back together and get the car logbooked. Got my decals for the window + trunk and hood pins. Need to order balljoints and conical washers so I can install the STi arms. Much to do much to do. 2point5GT_Dan
Also, this weekend I picked up a spare grill so I can hack one apart to fit aux lights behind it. Some free supertones to paint black and replace the terrible stockers. New door cards and door seals to fix that on my car. Plus an OEM sub for 10 bucks. I didn't grab the T harness because I didn't know, so I think I can just slam it in with vampire clips?
mungewell
Subscribe.... got to see more cats Regarding the cost of the '$600' car; who cares, looks like you're having a whale of a time. Wish I was a talented as you.

2point5GT_Dan
Weekend update Mustang motor is good! That missing throttle body part didn't go in the motor. Dad also got ARP studs. Last weekend I got some junkyard upgrades for the legacy. New door cards, spare grill, oem sub, hella bro-tones. All for cheap cheap cheap. Took the grills off to bend them out straight and de bro them. De-broing Sub in. We had to custom wire it because I didn't grab the T harness from the junkyard. I don't care what anyone says, I love this thing. Adds a little extra bump. I'm going to find a second one for under the driver seat, and then buy any I find and pull the T harness to resell. Also cut the winglets off my spare grill. I've got 10 inches wide, 4 inches (3.5 if I don't hack the shit out of the bottom of the grill for clearance), and 3.5 inches tall. On each side of the logo. Probably going with Hella FF 450s Cat:

JJay03
Wow that legacy was rough. Cool cat too heres my maine coon. Trying to decide if I want to pull my rear subframe and por15 it. Its not too bad though and not sure I want to screw up my alignment. Sure you could mark it but it wouldnt be the same. Think Ill save that for when I do my struts and por15 the rear diff also. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l285/spdfrk1990/Oliver/oliver006-1.jpg
2point5GT_Dan
Nothing new on the legacy front. I made a straight pipe with glasspack on the end for the RS. Didn't run it for rallycross because residential area. Switched to gravels at noon. Sexy Now I need to call the logbook guy. Once car is logbooked, I'm tearing all the suspension out. New knuckles with new wheel bearings and studs all around, sti control arms, boxed trailing arms, etc. http://www.facebook.com/SiFmotorsports
BrandonVonDoom
little late. but i subbed this thread cause it's definitely motivation to work on my 97 lgt that i payed $700 for. probably in a little worse condition than how yours started out, but you obviously know what you're doing haha, i on the other hand... well let's just say it'll be a learning experience haha. 2point5GT_Dan
Long time no post. Been busy getting the RS prepped Shirts are in: Stickers: Built some spare suspension out of stuff I had lying around: STi suspension before revalve + bracing: Entry list stuff: Car + service truck: Driving it out to the logbook guy: Mothers day: Getting the door decals on sucked, so we painted the area white instead of using Rally America's shitty sticker: Dyno'd the car: 121 wheel is amazing for a car that abused. Did some random mustang panel swapping:
2point5GT_Dan
Stock trailing arms with flat stock welded on to box them: Revised belt mounts: Don't worry about the shitty welds, there is a huge backing plate on the eye so the load is distributed. Even if the welds on the top plate fail there is a huge backing plate under the car. WRX hood for saving 20 pounds: Turbo SS rims: Washed and claybar'd the legacy: Spares for NEFR: Spare diff: New wheel bearings and studs: Hit 200,000 on the LGT: STi control arms: 4x refreshed hubs: Under armor:
