04Legacy
Sorry BoozeRS205 and Dan. They are going to a good home. Good eye on those struts! They have the 2005+ LGT struts 25% off too. Saw these on Pittsburgh Craigslist if you haven't pulled the trigger on those other struts: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/pts/3225738573.html

2point5GT_Dan
This weekend was nuts. Started off Saturday with a road trip. http://i.imgur.com/2kPeLl.jpg We get to the dealer to take a look at some things. http://i.imgur.com/jdSJml.jpg wat http://i.imgur.com/ShObhl.jpg As much as I wanted to buy that, we left with this: http://i.imgur.com/7sUxPl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/jLifDl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wnxwbl.jpg 2005 F250 with a ton of miles. 5.4 auto. MINT underneath, no leaks no issues. Ready to rock and roll. Going to tow the RS and mustang, plus plow in the winter. Got back in the afternoon, worked on the legacy. Need to resuspension and resubframe the car. http://i.imgur.com/ZXaTLl.jpg New frame covered in POR. Old frozen toe adjustment bolt cut off with a sawzall. http://i.imgur.com/58RXUl.jpg Subaru designed the rear bushing to have a friggin metal sleeve in the middle that seizes to the bolt going through it. It was impossible to adjust the rear toe. My frame was rotten so I might as well fix them both. http://i.imgur.com/aWGtXl.jpg Yeah.... It was still solid, hit it with a hammer and tried to bend the arm, but one side had that huge hole. It was safe, but should be replaced at some point. http://i.imgur.com/hoCGzl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/VVMIPl.jpg After poking at it: http://i.imgur.com/RKUvjl.jpg
2point5GT_Dan
Old subframe out. But not without issue. http://i.imgur.com/K0SV0l.jpg ONE OF THESE THINGS IS NOT LIKE THE OTHER http://i.imgur.com/RQMFxl.jpg Yeah, that bolt is broken off in the unibody. http://i.imgur.com/xezyll.jpg Old diff bushings. Ran out of black spraypaint. Easy removable parts I just spray paint. Big stuff I chassis save / POR. So "dont give a f%&* edition blue" to the rescue: http://i.imgur.com/2CKxul.jpg So subaru is awesome at making their bushings. http://i.imgur.com/Gy17kl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/psfgql.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZktCnl.jpg At some point dad's friend shows up with his beater L. http://i.imgur.com/DB449l.jpg Thing was a piiiillleee. Torn boot throwing grease everywhere. Leaking oil pan. trans running in FWD mode. Corded tires. Dead brakes. Dad did a full brake job while I plugged along on the legacy. He's getting new rear calipers and new tires soon. BUT, dad got a text. Car died at a gas station 3 miles from home. Turns over, sputters, wont restart. Not sure wtf, but not my mess. I kept working and pressed new bushings into the old legacy arms: http://i.imgur.com/64D3tl.jpg The old bushings have an outer metal ring. I took the sawzall and cut through it to relieve the tension, then air hammered them out. Had to do it on the RS, so I knew what I was doing. http://i.imgur.com/Hm4LPl.jpg Art: http://i.imgur.com/e8YQ1l.jpg Diff draining and cleaned up brackets back on. http://i.imgur.com/r1u7sl.jpg Sex: http://i.imgur.com/6853nl.jpg More sex: http://i.imgur.com/LqenUl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/TBraTl.jpg Should have cleaned and painted the diff, I'll do it another weekend when I swap axles or something. And back to this issue, which destroyed all progress. http://i.imgur.com/vB8vZl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wSaUpl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/QzzBQl.jpg Dad went hard with the oxy ace and drill bits. The hole goes all the way through again, you can see some of the threads. I need to pick up a new bolt and a tap this week. Had to drive the RS back to my apartment. With no radio. GOOD TIMES. 2point5GT_Dan
Did things tonight: http://i.imgur.com/7T61Tl.jpg Almost: http://i.imgur.com/4VmdCl.jpg RANDOM BLUE SHIT: http://i.imgur.com/R3H81l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/XjQEDl.jpg The heat shield broke off when I put the exhaust back on. So I grabbed a washer and booger welded that bitch on with no gas. http://i.imgur.com/e4Hoil.jpg http://i.imgur.com/GbWgRl.jpg DONE http://i.imgur.com/TqOsVl.jpg Drives better than it did before. Just said fudge it and zero'd it out. Need to get it on the rack next week.
2point5GT_Dan
http://i.imgur.com/XWdmyl.jpg Dropped the RS off in MA to have a cage put in. I am sad to leave the car down there and so is my wallet. http://i.imgur.com/r5UU7l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Psi94l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6gPHVl.jpg I made the sadness go away by hugging cats

2point5GT_Dan
Not much new to report. We picked up a new mustang shell. http://i.imgur.com/BQjqd.jpg Threw on new struts + ALK on the legacy. Handles amazing although I have some odd suspension clunking. Mark front bolts to maintain alignment spec. Struts on the legacy. Anti-lift kit because a huge chunk was missing from one of my stock mounts. Old ones didn't rebound. Was a PITA and I broke my 16 dollar amazon spring compressor. It's all back together. Slight issues are the front left clunks a little bit and the right rear clunks a lot. I'm not sure the top hats are seated correctly. Friend came over with his white forester. He said his rear diff was making noise and getting worse... So he brings over his parts forester and says if we pull the diff and install it for him, we can keep the parts car. SCORE. So we get the diff out quickly, and decide to drive the white forester before tearing into it. Dad drives it and I'm in the pass seat. Turning my head I go "yeah, its not the diff, its coming from the left side" We get the car in the air and there is a mile of play in the wheel bearing. WELP. So his exhaust was also cracked so we booger welded that back up and sent him on his way to have a shop do the wheel bearing. We don't have a press and big ass bolt sucks. Parted the green parts forester asap and scraped. No engine, broken trans, now no rear diff. Driveshaft exploded. Rust. Shift linkages are all fucked up. Exhaust is broken. It would take a lot to get it running again to sell it, so a quick part out will be more worth our time. LOL: I'm going to get spare axles, control arms, front knuckles (rear is drum), wiring, and ecu out of it. So we did a thing Doors coming off: Trying to get the ECU wiring out, I forgot that there were two bolts near the windshield... Mid day with ECU out. All the panels off waiting to be sold. Back of the garage area cleaned up nicely. Load it up to get it out front for air tools: Subaru Forester Super Leggera I'm yo pusher: You'll notice that we loaded in random scrap. Mustang fender, front end, etc. Legacy doors and fenders. Anything that was junk was thrown into this rolling dumpster.
2point5GT_Dan
So I put a new stereo in the Legacy. First thing was tear down the whole dash. Threw in this 6 disk I got out of a junkyard WRX with the intent to try and resell and make money off of. 10 dollar stereo I ended up selling for 50 bucks. Score. It worked. Then I threw in the new stereo. It has fancy bluetooth shit so I can pandora off of my phone and make calls from it. Ran the mic behind the plastic and clipped it to my wiper stalk. Yes I need to clean my interior. Cat:
mjf419
http://i.imgur.com/02HxWl.jpg Tires showed up in less than 24 hours from when I ordered them from tire rack. Getting them mounted this week. I also put in the comments section of my order "can i have free stickers lol". Got a huge manila envelope in the mail full of stickers, windshield banner decal, etc etc. So reading online, I found on legacygt most people had issues with evap shit due to terrible factory wiring, so I went looking. http://i.imgur.com/V09Dml.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zCNlbl.jpg Strip the wiring loom off the solenoid valve stupid evap thing and found this: http://i.imgur.com/uRV38l.jpg Yep, there's your problem. Fixed that, get in, clear codes. BAM. Three CEL's killed with one wire. Fixed all the brakes, then time for a lunch break. http://i.imgur.com/F6tz0l.jpg Ripped the rear bumper off to fix some rust and paint stuff. Took the car for a 20 mile drive. http://i.imgur.com/AuhTDl.jpg Car is going for state inspection next weekend. Can't wait to see what they say I need to fix next. Also, this thing is slow as shit. 0-60 in 11.25 seconds according to the Torque app. Good thing I don't mind. I can't drive wrx's because I have little self control, my RS is borderline too fast. Thanks for sharing, great story.
2point5GT_Dan
Goodies came in for the race car. I also threw red LED's into my dash + cleaned it. They look great at night. I'd snap a pic, but I use my phone as my camera and the pictures come out awful due to lack of exposure adjustments.
2point5GT_Dan
New pics from cage guy. Going to pick it up this afternoon. (road trip time) For better or worse here's what it is: I'll take more pics when I get it home. Asked for the front to be tied into the strut, but I'll probably throw in an extra bar and some plating like I've seen on Last Ditch Racings over engineered car. mustangendsley
i would think that this is a waste of time and money car. i bet your way past you 3k on this car and could have bought one in better condition than this 600$ rust bucket. I have seen subaru brats in better condition for 600$. I mean nice work but i would do this on muscle cars, not a subaru!!!
