2point5GT_Dan
Mostly an RS post, but whatever its subaru related. http://i.imgur.com/MA4vVl.jpg Since the RS doesn't need floor mats anymore: http://i.imgur.com/WrUgkl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/feOnQl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Lyjz4l.jpg All I had planned to do today was pull the seats to remove the carpet. I took a screw driver to the sound deadening and it started coming off in chunks: http://i.imgur.com/OoF4Bl.jpg So I got the air chisel out and went to town. http://i.imgur.com/D5VOIl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/r2dPNl.jpg Got all of it out except for the front. I'm going to probably pull the dash next weekend to get all of it out from there. Also, the RS motor sounds like it has knock at idle, I should probably source another one before next summer. 2point5GT_Dan
New stuff going on all sorts of fronts Dad has a mustang he races at the oval tracks during spectator drag nights. Race mustang got a three row radiator upgrade and a new hood to try and manage engine temps better. http://i.imgur.com/TmDjHl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Wd9GAl.jpg Hood was rattle canned, this weekend the rest of the car will get more rattlecanning. On the legacy, the headliner and sun visors were pretty gross. Some idiot played in the interior with dirty hands and smeared grease and shit all over the headliner, visors, and oh poop handles. Got a bottle of simple green and cleaned the hell out of it. http://i.imgur.com/PfjYkl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UzqhTl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/SLdHxl.jpg I had previously knocked the bubbling rust off the legacy rear quarters and hit them with chassis saver. Today I finally color matched the passenger side. Driver side needs a bumper cover tab welded on before I finish it. http://i.imgur.com/dDCvdl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/SGpo1l.jpg Rattle can 10 foot don't give a fudge style. Also cleaned off the rims with simple green because the brake dust was starting to build up. On the RS front Since it was hood day on the mustang, I decided to keep the theme going. I didn't want to weld or unbolt stuff. http://i.imgur.com/cgxRIl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/MPY1nl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2KbY3l.jpg Rattlecanning satin black then getting color match once I fix the dents, make a blockoff plate, and get it sorted. WRX hood is aluminum and will be a huge weight savings off the front of the car compared to my stock steel hood.
2point5GT_Dan
Went to go visit my sister yesterday. Ended up playing bumper cars on the way there. Legacy aftermath: http://i.imgur.com/MRkmfl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JCd61l.jpg Swapped shoes with the RS. Going to try and get replacement panels this week. Car drives fine, go figure. Only casualties were driver fender and door, plus a wheel and tire. 2point5GT_Dan
what is that cat? maine-coon? They are good cats. 20+ pounds of maine coon Wish I had the skills and resources to do these kinds of projects... I started out two years ago. My RS clutch was going, so I replaced it with nothing but a socket set and some misc tools. I've been lucky and had access to a lot of handy stuff through my dad and his friend, but to do motor swaps or trans swaps all you need are 10 12 14 and 17mm sockets. They're really easy cars to work on. Once you dig in deeper and start replacing suspension or other stuff, you need bigger sockets, oxyace gas, etc. But for the most part they are VERY friendly DIY cars. If you're a show car kiddie, then all that stuff is even easier, just bolt off bolt on your doodads or whatever.

BoozeRS05
I started with literally no experience or tools, and an '05 Impreza RS 6 years ago. These forums have taught me everything I know and I'm getting more bold with every project. I actually look forward to the day where I might pull a motor and/or trans. Going to get those back on instead of worn winters on wrx wheels, then order some suspension for this crate.

Dubz
In the ad on craigslist there was a spoiler but did it come with one when you brought it? Even if you did replace the trunk would you put it back on?
2point5GT_Dan
AWESOME project!!! How much money would you say you've put into it so far? How many hours of labor as well? Haven't really kept track? Probably close to 3k? The motor is all up to date on service. Revised headgaskets, new timing belt and pullies, water pump, seals, etc. All the ones I emailed about for sale on craigslist had over 100k miles and the owners had zero paperwork about matinance and wanted 5-6k for them. Dumb. I've had enough bad luck to realize if I want something, I should just build it myself. In the ad on craigslist there was a spoiler but did it come with one when you brought it? Even if you did replace the trunk would you put it back on? When I fixed the old trunk, I went wingless. I replaced that trunk because my patch was ghetto and I didn't want to put effort into it when an OEM replacement off another car will come out better. The replacement trunk I got was wingless. I still have the spoiler in my parents attic. Got my replacement DSW in last week. Once I get it mounted and balanced, I'll be back on a set of snowflakes. 2point5GT_Dan
I needed to restrut the legacy, was going to get GR2's off rock auto, but tokico is running a 70% off sale. http://www.tokicoperformanceshocks.com/p-16-shock-kit-hts-series-tohts005.aspx Getting HTS's which are very similar to their D-specs which I run on my RS. Nice adjustable struts for the same price as GR2s? ******* DONE.
BoozeRS05
Good eye on those struts! They have the 2005+ LGT struts 25% off too. Saw these on Pittsburgh Craigslist if you haven't pulled the trigger on those other struts: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/pts/3225738573.html EB's Subaru journal - 2005 LegacyGT Wagon & 2014 Forester FB25 (2008 specB - RIP) IG@legacygtliving
2point5GT_Dan
Anti lift kit ordered as well. Struts should show up this week. Still need to order new tophats all around. 2point5GT_Dan
Forgot to mention. I got my snowflakes back on after getting a new rim and tire mounted up last week. Also reprogrammed the keyfob from the race car to the legacy since the legacy didn't come with one. http://i.imgur.com/7wkt2l.jpg Gettin' there. I hear they are getting a lot more strict when it comes to getting a sticker. It depends on where you take it to get a sticker. I took my old lifted GL in for inspection. Passed with worn out rear brake pads, a loose wheel bearing, blown axle boot (which is now actually legal), and a loose ball joint or something. He's like "Jesum crow bub, get this cah fixed up before you go right friggin' sideways into the puccah brush"
DurkaDur
haha that is awesome, a year ago when I was still living up in Caribou I had an 83 chevy suburban that I used insulating foam to fill in the rot holes.. took it to the inspector with the thickest glasses in town and he put a sticker on it but he said "you know this is supposed to have catalytic converters right?" I said yeah and he still put the sticker on anyway. I was in Bangor a few months back, I miss Maine so bad.

I hear they are getting a lot more strict when it comes to getting a sticker. I'm in southern maine. Live in portland but do most my work out of my parents garage near auburn. Got my sticker at a subaru dealer. Legit. Did an oil change on the legacy tonight. No bearings in the oil. http://i.imgur.com/tOORTl.jpg Hit 194,000 on the way home. 2point5GT_Dan
Been working on some stuff: http://i.imgur.com/xYJaXl.jpg Picked up a new rear subframe. http://i.imgur.com/VpWFel.jpg Started to tear down the mustang. http://i.imgur.com/FfnHMl.jpg Got the drivetrain out of the wrecked shell in 3 hours. http://i.imgur.com/ANfT8l.jpg Subframe day. I didn't need the whole rear subframe, just the center section. 4 of the 6 bolts come out easy, but the rear toe adjustment bolts go through a metal sleve. After 200k miles they are seized together. http://i.imgur.com/M5ixAl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/29upul.jpg http://i.imgur.com/SyWZyl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wvCpTl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Y1GAhl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/xGtUIl.jpg Starting to spray on some etching primer http://i.imgur.com/2Nd3kl.jpg Primer'd http://i.imgur.com/INmtul.jpg My two turds http://i.imgur.com/gzh1Ml.jpg I still have new struts and tophats to install.
