First attempt at AutoX out at Bremerton Speedway in Washington. Driving instructors were from the local Porsche club. Forum member BOXITA got me and a local buddy in his 13STI in last minute. Deffinately learned more of the cars capability and the awesome feeling of torque :D

Smoked the taillights today with some vinyl DocHoliday provided for me. Minor imperfections but sooner than later I'll have them professionally painted. I really like the look, considering the front is flatblack in the headlights

Thanks fellas. I think any of us with darker colored cars should do it. Reason why I did this first is to get an idea of the look as a 'temporary' look. Paint will come for a more refined look

For paint???....I have no idea, its all going to be done by a friend of a friend and then once I decide to pay the funds. I've seen people buy the smoke platidip before, and its turned out OK,some looks good and some not too well because they held it to far away and made it speckled and had an orange peel look. This guy has done a ton of trucks that come through my friends shop so I'll leave this awhile then do that towards winter when the car is inside and I mob my Buick, then I'll have some things powder coated and painted.

I bought a can of it a while back when it first came out. I tested it out on some clear pieces of plastic, it looked terrible. It comes out a flat smoke look and even when i threw a coat of their "glossifier" on it, it still looked really cheap and bad. And it took about 7 coats to get it even a little dark. It wasnt even close to as dark as that vinyl. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

Tinted taillights = instant death followed by incarceration! Oh the humanity!
A light tint isn't a big deal - makes it a little harder to see folks brake lights during the day, but that's about it. Problem is there are too many people who get carried away and make them almost black - looks cool to them, but you can't see their brake lights or their directionals (though most people seem to not use those, anyway...) during the day. The thing that baffles me is when people tint their headlights dark like that as well...

I understand... it's a running joke on this forum that inevitably surfaces anytime someone talks about tinting their tails! "It's illegal" (true), "you're gonna die" (probably false), etc etc.
