  1. I wouldn't worry about the 10 speed used by GM and Ford. I haven't heard of any issues, only praise. Been perfect in my Sierra.
  2. I have a Racer X intercooler I need to find a home for.
  3. Oh, as for parts for the LGT it is mostly stock stuff, winter tire/wheel setup, and stuff I never used like throwout bearing kit and spark plugs.
  4. Yeah, AT4 CarbonPro with the Duramax. I got a tonneau cover ordered for it, that's it so far. Not sure what else I'll do in the short term. When Banks releases their tuner for it, I might grab that. First truck, so a lot to get used to
  5. Well what I did to my LGT (day before Thanksgiving) was say goodbye. It's been a fun 9+ years but it was time to move on. At least the replacement still has a turbo! LGT was traded in then sold in under a week. I'm hoping to get in touch with the new owner to see if he wants some history and extra parts. If anyone sees a new member on the forum with it, send them my way! Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  6. I'm still debating what to do with mine. If I was to list it for private sale as-is including snow tire setup, never installed parts, etc., I'd probably start at 13.5k.
  7. Anyone cleaned an intercooler before? I was reading about using kerosene to flush it out.
  8. I'm all over the place for what to buy next. I think I said that somewhere else in this thread. There doesn't seem to be anything that is truly calling to me like when I got my LGT in 2011. I could keep driving it, but it has been un-drivable/in the shop for close to 3 weeks total over the last month. I just wonder what is next. That experience has got me researching and now there is an itch for something new that is hard to scratch.
  9. Anyone have experience with the Explorer ST? That's something else I've recently been looking at but haven't test driven yet. Never been a Ford guy, grew up in a GM and Honda family. These new EcoBoost engines have impressive specs though. I figure I'd be able to tow whatever I need to tow with it, and have 400hp on tap for fun the rest of the time.
  10. They do use it there. I haven't heard of issues yet but will be on the look out. I had read about problems with the 8 speed used previously.
  11. Yeah, been thinking of the maintenance costs. The oil changes will be slightly more expensive, nothing crazy. A gallon of DEF is like something like $2 or $3 a gallon and I'm reading people top it off every oil change which is every 7500 miles. I'm not sure if I'd need to do much else over the course of ownership. I aim for 7-10 years of use at least; made it to 9 with my LGT and only put 64k miles on it. Diesel engine is something like $1000 more than the 5.3 V8 and completely destroys it in terms of full economy so that's why I'd go that route. I'm well aware of depreciation on new vehicles and I don't mind buying new. I like knowing all the history of a vehicle and keeping it for a decent amount of time. The emissions equipment on modern diesels is one thing to worry about but at least GM provides a longer warranty on this engine.
  12. Pics of Denali. Too much chrome for me. This would be cab and box config I would get however. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  13. Test drove 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. It was a fully loaded Denali which is way more than I need. The main thing I was curious about what the 3.0 I6 diesel. It drove pretty nice. Certainly not fast, but I think I could live with it. Test drove a similarly equipped model with the 5.3 gasser and could not tell a difference in acceleration. The mileage you get with the diesel is what is really calling me. Both of my Subarus rarely get more than 20/21 MPGs so I feel like having a truck that is going to do better than that would be awesome. Obviously an expensive vehicle though, probably mid 50s. Not sure I really need a truck though... I have nothing to tow but may have a small camper someday. I do own a house and have been frustrated when I can't move something or make a trip to the hardware store without help. I know I could get by with much less. Where I live they are everywhere though, and seeing them constantly gets me thinking I need one! The AT4 just looks so good to me.
  14. Got my car back after repair for this issue: https://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5996710&postcount=2216 Shop replaced the missing bolt on the v-band with a stainless steel one, replaced the rusted coolant lines on the turbo (2nd time I've had to do this), and had to replace the oil pan on the turbo. Apparently the pan crumbled when they tried to disassemble things to reach the v-band. They inspected the turbo via inspection camera and saw no obvious damage. Guess I'm good to go now... A little worried still that something else could go wrong. I'm debating removing the intercooler and looking inside for any sings of metal shavings and potentially cleaning it out.
  15. Thanks all. I'm hopeful that with being in an area with a lot of Subarus that it would be easy to sell as is. There are a couple of regional FB groups I'm in that have a lot of buying/selling going on so I'd probably start with that. I know patience is key when selling privately and I'm not always patient when I get the itch for a new car. So I still may just figure out a plan for trade in. I wouldn't go crazy with reverting back to stock, just easily removable things and pay for a shop to swap the downpipe/exhaust back. I just worry selling the parts afterwards will be a pain due to low volume of these cars. I like the Carmax idea. Wish there was one closer to me.
  16. Yeah, these are the responses I figured I'd get. I was hoping maybe a dealer wouldn't analyze a nearly 10 year old car too much. Some stuff done is very obvious though, like the exhaust. Guess I need to put some thought in to it. I don't really want to deal with people, but selling it privately would be easier from the perspective of leaving the car as is. I'd also throw in all stock parts, winter tire setup, new parts I never installed, etc.
  17. Anyone ever trade in a car with mods? Trying to figure out what to do with mine. Don't really want to part it out. Would be nice to sell it private party with all mods and extra parts. I don't know if I really want to deal with the hassle of selling it though. Trading in is easy. Just not sure what a dealer would think of a modified car. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  18. Yeah that's what I'm worried about. It's hard to say if it is a metallic sound or just exhaust escaping. Either way, I'm preparing for the worst. I took a closer look and can see that what happened was the bolt holding the clamp together broke. I was hoping I'd be able to rotate the clamp around enough to put a new bolt in, but it's too tight in there. Looks like it all needs to come apart. She's had a good run. I'll probably start looking for a replacement at this point. Hopefully put it back together for as little $$$ as possible and send it off. I've been debating on selling for a few months now and this is the nail in the coffin I think.
  19. How screwed am I? I just get my car back from have power steering lines replaced after they rusted away and leaked all over. Yesterday I decide to get into some boost and it makes an odd noise. I take it easy back home and this afternoon get under it to check things out. Turns out the clamp holding the turbine to compressor housing is shifted. Exhaust is blowing out. Somewhat metal on metal sound but it's hard to tell if it's just an exhaust leak. And of course when reach in there with a screwdriver I bump the coolant line and that starts to leak.
  20. 63k on mine and I've been thinking maybe now is the time to sell. The car is solid mechanically and rust is just starting to show. Wife and I are still working from home so could easily go down to one daily driver while I figure out what to buy next. I have a C6 for fun and during the summer I'm driving that every chance I get anyway. Not sure what to get next though. Kinda like the Scat Pack Charger, Stinger, and all those other types of sport sedans. Then I start thinking I wouldn't mind a truck - really liking the looks and mileage of the 3.0 Duramax Sierra. Or a used Trackhawk. I'm all over the place haha. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  21. Bottom isn't too bad actually. I got the underside coated when I bought it. But fenders, trunk drain hole area, under a couple doors, etc are getting bad. They put so much salt down here it is insane.
  22. Coming up on 9 for me. Sitting at 62k miles currently. Seems like it has a lot of life left in it mechanically but the rust is creeping in. It was out of sight out of mind for a long time but as you can see it has caused the paint to chip on the side now. Clearly visible .
  23. Yeah I need to make a post in the classifieds section.
  24. I have a Cobb SF with box I need to get rid of. I blocked off the opening with plexiglass and double sided tape. There are pictures of it someplace here...
  25. I leave my dashcam rolling when my car goes in for service. Plenty of positive reactions. I should post the videos, they are pretty funny.
