DOHCEJ22E1's 98 2.5GT Limited

Recommended Posts

The car is now repaired it the brakes haven't been put on yet, since the last set of pads still have a good chunk of meat left to them. The car drives normally as it did before the damage. No weird noises. If anything, I would think that its a little smoother than before. There is still a chunk of TQ between 2k & 3k that I am trying to figure out how & why.

I have been a little busy as of late but I was able to install the new brake set & clean the car up a bit for WBM. Unfortunately, I ruined my grille, so I'll have to attend without one. Car still looks cool though.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, bills & such have kept me from the project for a little longer.

As such, I am maintaining this car as good as I possibly can & it's harder than one would think...

Update:

The car is now in my garage waiting for a 5 speed manual swap. Unfortunately, I can find no one to help me, so it will take time to remove as I have to do the work myself. Until then, I'll be in a 2000 Saab 9-3 SE turbo. I will have to step out of the Subaru game for a little while but when I come back, you will see a massive jump in progress on the LGT.

Later!

Good luck man, I would help out if my arms were long enough..super interested in how and what is needed to do all this, a 98 legacy 5speed just became available for salvage in my area.. had thoughts of trading her for a maroon 95 five speed sedan with 108k on it..but mine has sentimental value and looks way better bodywise.

I'll take pictures of the removal of the auto transmission to the installation of the manual one. I could trade mine in for a manual but then I'd be giving up the work I have already done for something that is unknown. Not really worth it in my book.

So, I'm pretty certain that the car will be getting a 20R/22E hybrid in the coming future. For now, I am going to focus on driving the 22D as a 5 speed & see how that goes. The twins will be ditched for a single turbo setup unless I can find a way to convert the twin setup into a parallel setup.

Update on this car: Game over.

I let someone borrow it, they broke it in more ways than one, I couldn't pull enogh money together to fix it, sold it to another Subaru guy, they parted it out and cut the body up for scrap, or so I was told. Either way, it is gone, and so am I until my next LGT. Until next time!
