My deepest apologies to Dwolson without whom we'd all be still listening to the radio on our crappy OEM's. CHEERS MATE!

And thanks also to all the pioneers who also took the leap. Much appreciated!

just giving you a hard time.... Not really offended...lol

You do deserve props for pushing it to find a solution. That's the way things work in this world. Nothing happens unless someone is willing to take on a challenge. I think we are all glad you did. ;-)

Well, I'm finally looking to pick up one of these guys and while checking out ebay, I saw that there are a ton of these units with minor differences between them. Some of the pictures show different on screen UIs and slightly different hard button configurations. Is there any real difference between these units that you guys know of? Or are they just all the same unit being sold by a bunch of different vendors? Thanks for any info from the people that have already taken the dive.

yes they do have different specs. I got the one with rear USB because I didn't want to have to remove the USB everytime I got ot the car.

Have you tried pairing it with more than one phone via Bluetooth? I'm just wondering if it will work with both my phone and my Wife's, or if it is an either/or setup.

You haven't happened to have tried it with an iPhone have ya?

Thanks for posting this. I just ordered one for my Xterra.

So here we are two months later and I just installed it today.

It runs Windows CE 5.0, so customizing the software won't be easy. However it looks like it would be relatively easy to make it run arbitrary code - you can configure the location of the GPS software, and if you put your own (built-for-CE5) software on the SD card, I suspect it would be happy to run it for you.

Do you have any more pictures of the fitment? I remember you saying that it was a bit taller so you had to shave some of the mount? I wouldn't want to mess with the new 400 dollar JDM set that I just bought...

+1

Im in same boat, bought a chinese double din unit and paid $400ish for the faceplate and my headunit wont close!!!

^i bought the same one and had to trim it a little to fit, but got it to work. Works pretty good for the price

Key words right there. :) I'm kinda bummed about the quality of the software in this thing. It does work, so I'm not gonna complain much, but it was pretty clearly written by three separate groups of developers, who never talked with each other, and none of them were particularly talented at user interface design.

The USB music player, for example... light blue text on a white background? Seriously?

But, the basics work.

How? mine is miles out!

Can't you set it deeper in the dash so it doesn't stick out so much?

I set the hvac facia on it until it stoped which was like an inch i think. I'll take pictures as soon as I get a chance. But have you found a sub level control yet? I plugged my rca's in and the sub is working but I have no way of adjusting it.

Does Your Hvac work properly, or is auto switched from left to right, thats what I read in a post on getting jdm double din plate to work with usdm hvac. Or did it changek, is it direct bolt up? so 300 for faceplate, 25 for button and 300 for radio, 20 for a harness, 700 bucks seems good.

Everything with HVAc works the auto knob is on the other side.

You are the F'n man! This six cd changer has to go, who uses cds.....

I sorta like that the hazard would be closer to me.

Also they could be that cheap because they don't fit exactly as it should, coulda been some parts that were considered defective cause of inaccurate measurements and bought by some lil company and re manufactured. Happens all the time.

How much trimming did you have to do, and is it visible?

Is there Video input?

Mine not really. Since the bottom potrudes it covers my handy work.;) You have to put your head down by the shifter to see where I cut.

Update:

So far, so good. I got a 16gb thumbdrive and loaded my part of my music collection. It is really nice not to having to buy, burn, and fumble with CDs anymore. Just the saving in time makes it worth every penny. No more sitting there all day trying to make the perfect CD with all your favorite song and then putting it in and then thinking to yourself "Why did I put this on this CD". Now everything is with me. I even got a thumb drive for my wifes car and she loves not having to burn CDs anymore.

The navi is very nice and I like the fact that I can change it if I want.

But, one quirk I found so far is the USB port. If you have the usb thumbdrive plugged in it will keep switching to usb. So if you change to radio. It will go there for a second then switch back to my thumb drive. You have to remove the thumb drive to use the other features. But, It still allows you to use the phone and answer and make calls. I'm really glad I went with this radio.
