babybaluga32
So I ordered a gasket set for a SOHC 2.2. But I got what I believe to be DOHC 2.2. Besides the exhaust manifold gaskets not working, will I run into any other problems?
Baddog
No such thing as a DOHC 2.2. You mean dual port heads. Anyways I am not sure how to answer your question after that since I am not sure. But for the most part the engines stayed the same throughout the years.
babybaluga32
What heads can I use without getting a piggyback or standalone? That will fit my phase 2 intake mani
Baddog
I think in 99 you can use the DOHC heads from the EJ25D or EJ251? Have to do some research of your own but if you could those would be your options. EJ251 is a SOHC motor (RS2.5 Motor) and EJ25D is GT/Outback motor and 98 RS 2.5 Motor
babybaluga32
So I have officially givin up on my phase 2 block. I honed the shit out of it and it wouldnt get a 'lump' out. I have a phase 1 22e. Thrust is in #3 instead of #5 1)What else is different? 2)Will I have problems with my gasket set for a 99? 3)Can I use my Phase 2 heads? babybaluga32
I still cant find ej22t rings that actually fit, they are all 1.2x1.5, there is a ton of gap on the top ring (haven't measured it yet), but I have the old ones and they are significantly bigger
subikid90
Did you try the dealership for the rings? I Donated broknindarkagain Posted March 10, 2011 I Donated Share Posted March 10, 2011 pre heat your oven to about 300 degrees. put a wet towel or a piece of wood on the rack, and bake the headlight housing for a few minutes. this will soften the weather seal / glue they use to hold the lense on. You will be able to peel it off after the glue is soft. Thats how you get inside the housing to remove the reflector...or even paint the inside if you want to. The reasoning behind the towel / wood is so the metal doesn't burn the plastic housing. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." babybaluga32
^ Thats a step beyond what I did. I took a dremel and cut out a space for the light to fall out underneath it. and it just pops off really easily. Then put clear silicone in the hole. babybaluga32
This little bastard got tapped and I cant get the bolt to stay in. What can I do? Could I cut a line in the middle of the bolt about half an inch and put something in it so it is slightly wider? http://img859.imageshack.us/img859/5379/photovn.jpg
subikid90
Find a bigger bolt that will fit. Who tapped it? Ask them what tap they used. Looks like probably m12x1.25 or something close. Take the bolt that is suppose to fit to a hardware store and buy all the thread sizes for the bolt, the 1.25 part, then step up to the next size, the m12 parts, and buy all the threads for it. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
