derffred
It totally depends on tire size though, 18X8 wheels will fit fine under stock ride height. No, I know they'll fit... but I'm worried about what will happen to my ground clearance and wheel gaps.. Will it make my car look like Outback? lol
oxide
No it won't. If you get the right size, your overall diameter will hardly change and the gap should be very little different from stock wheels.
scottybuckeye
No, I know they'll fit... but I'm worried about what will happen to my ground clearance and wheel gaps.. Will it make my car look like Outback? lol To compare tire sizes, check out http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html or search for tire calculator. If you go w/ a tire of a larger circumference, you'll get slightly higher ride height and less fender gap (springs are the best way to eliminate fender gap). I have iONS which lower the car about 1" and have summer tires of 235/40/18. This set up creates a good looking stance (and better cornering), but I do get a little tire rub. Good luck! CMyLGT
A 235/35/18 tire is actually .1" smaller in overall diameter than the stock tires
scottybuckeye
A 235/35/18 tire is actually .1" smaller in overall diameter than the stock tires If you were talking to me, I don't have a 235/35/18 tire.
CMyLGT
No sorry I wasn't talking to you, I was responding to derffred's question about looking like an outback
derffred
Okay, so I decided to stick with 17x8.. Now I need to figure out the widest tire possible without rubbing (with stock suspension AND with a 1 inch drop for future mods)
EL PAALO
245/40 17, rolls in back. you'll have minor rubbing up front on the fender liner at full lock. bfg kdw2 is what I was using.

EL PAALO
I want absolutely no rub in any condition though then stick with 225/45 17 and you'll have no rubs (assuming you get a proper width/offset).
derffred
then stick with 225/45 17 and you'll have no rubs (assuming you get a proper width/offset). and that setup would be okay if/when I lower it about an inch?
EL PAALO
yes. I had sti bbs wheels with 225/45 17 azenis 615 with swift springs and zero rubbing even during autox. Many people have used similar setups with zero problems.
scottybuckeye
Here are my Rota Tarmac3's in hyperblack with Toyo T1R tires... http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o19/oftoast/OSUvsWisconsin157small.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o19/oftoast/OSUvsWisconsin152small.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o19/oftoast/OSUvsWisconsin151small.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o19/oftoast/OSUvsWisconsin149small.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o19/oftoast/OSUvsWisconsin155small.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o19/oftoast/OSUvsWisconsin145small.jpg

BigInALegacy
Yeah, I didn't even notice it. What is it, chrome mesh? I agree, the grill looks a bit off... maybe stick the subie emblem (or an L7, or B4) and it might change the appearance a bit. Rims are sicko though... love hyperblack!! BigInALegacy
Oh, that's what that hole is... I noticed that, I just thought it was how the grill was supposed to be. I don't think my '08 has that... not entirely sure though.
scottybuckeye
Looks great, not sure about the grille though dude. Sorry man, I like it (a lot). Stock grille w/ wings simply looks weak like a fam sedan. Good eye on the cut out on the frame. I spent a lot of time doing the cut-sand-Bondo-sand-paint process and the Bondo quickly cracked and broke off. Maybe I'll fix it in the future, but it's not big enough for me to care anymore. BigIn, the grille is from grilleguy.com and is the aluminum finish. Everyone has black, so... Props on Daft! I'm looking forward to that live sampling album. Saw them at Red Rocks a few months ago. Most sick visual show I've ever been to (been to a lot).
