2011 Subaru Impreza WRX

I just took the online survey for my recent purchase and a choice for a car if mine was wrong was a 'STI Sedan' and in a recent conversation w/our local Regional manager at a Subaru event the STI sedan is next on the list it sounds...

The STI forums have been speculating on this for a long time...and it was clued in by SOA Blog we will see the new cars/changes at the NY autoshow officially on 4/2...supposedly 3 cars. All internet hearsay and a bunch of little girl TMZ gossip about cars.

I like it better than the current WRX. The fender flares work on a short body like that, the factory wheels aren't the best, but I rarely love factory wheels anyways. The only thing I dislike is the front bumper with the reverse-facing scoops. Makes the OEM bumper look like 2001 Buddy Club style - It would have been cool 10 years ago, but they need to make that bumper sleeker now.
On the search for a new DD...

^sexy wagon.

I think the 2011 WRX is a step in the right direction to put a midsized sport sedan back in their line up since they went full size (read AWD Camry) with the 2010 LGT. Minus the lame fender flares, I like the look and would seriously look at one if I'm in the market to replace my LGT in the next few years.

It's cool; I'm with the band

That is what we were talking about, bumping the STi's powa, not the WRX. ;)

Pffft, who needs context

If that's the case, yeah it seems like the STI has been at ~300HP for quite some time, it'd be nice to see a boost.

Thought I doubt I'll ever own one with car insurance costs as high as they are in southern California.

The straighter grille looks better.

But everything else still looks as blunt and vertical as ever. Why can't they tuck the chin spoiler back, behind the bumper-beam, to give the car a bit of a pointed vertical profile. kind of like the canted back headlights of the sleeker 05-07 Legacy front end. The front structure underneath is the same... the outer shell is just re-styled.

The headlights are obviously unchanged from current impreza, and have too many shape transitions, and look amorphous. The hawk-eye 06-07 headlights, and afore-mentioned Legacy, were better, but the 06-07 Impreza schnozz-grille was much worse. I wished that had a simple grille, more like the one shown above. Just simple, dignified, and clean.

I wonder what it would look like in WRB or solid red, with the fog light area panels, and the side extractor scoops painted matte black like the grille. (and the roof gloss-black like glass), and some decent 5 or 7 spoke wheels.

If only they had taken the previous WRX 7-spoke 17" wheels, and widened them to 8" wide... that would have been really good. I'd fit them to my BL Legacy. The 17x7s version WRX 7-spoke wheels look good on BL/BP Legacys.

If THIS is the new WRX (great big flares, quad tips, great wheels, etc) what on earth are they going to do with the newest STi?

How will they make is visually different and instantly recognizable as an STi (and then worth the extra $10K)?

I can't believe I'm actually excited about the WRX again. Wow.

I can't wait!!!

probably the same thing they did for every other version, a few extra pieces on the front bumper, and a wing. This newest version was the most different between the WRX and the STI ever.
