For you DIY's that want to coat this exhaust this is how i did mine a while back. My X02 never had any signs of rust or bubbles and i live in albany ny where there is a perpetual layer of salt.

It might not make it bullet proof like swain coatings but it is definitely better than nothing. My x02 after 1 year never rusted just coating had one or two rock chips.

I can Confirm that the piping, mufflers, and tips are made with 304SS. The hangers and flanges are not made of 304SS. The overall construction of the exhaust looks to be great. Is it made in the USA? I have no clue. So far no complaints and looks extremely nice. I will be putting it on my wagon this weekend and will keep everyone updated on fitment.

those ebay exhaust on ebay are not 304 stainless anymore, they are all 202 stainless or even 409 stainless now.

the main reason is not that the factory can't use or will not use 304 stainless is that those ebay vendor will not pay $$$ for 304 stainless all those ebay vendor only care about is price and they are killing those factory overseas because they want the lowest price so factory how no choice to give them thin stainless, lower grade stainless, metal flange etc anyway they can cut cost and light weight of course.

I have seen 5 pound ebay headers ( those Civic ones)

I compare to a another brand (OBX not a great brand either but at least they don't cut corner all they do is copy and knock off other people stuff the whole industry hate them) their civic header same design was 13 pounds.

202 is a grade down, and 409 is even worst (rust in 6 month) you can't use a magnet to check this because both will not stick.

I will ask my factory how can we tell if 202 and 409 stainless and give you guys a report.

409 Stainless can be told by a magnet since it only contains Chromium which makes it magnetic. The 202 will be almost impossible to tell the difference without sending it to a lab and having the metal analyzed. From what I was told by our engineers, the 202 is actually stronger than 304 but has slightly more corrosiveness. They said pricing is about the same between the two with 202 not fluctuating as much as 304 in prices which makes the 202 a little cheaper.

I installed the exhaust today, and the fit was pretty good. I had the most trouble lining up the driver's side muffler with the Y pipe flange. The tips were nice and centered until I tightened everything, then the moved inward a little. It was dark when I finished, so I'll take pics tomorrow.

Sounds good!

I installed mine today. Funny, my passenger side gave me some problems. I didn't like the way the tips recessed into the bumper so I took it off and put my greddy back on. My car already shoots flames so I could see my rear bumper catching on fire. I might try and see how much it would cost for a muffler shop to extend the tips. I thought the sound was beautiful. A little louder than my Greddy SPII. It is not a bad exhaust if you have time to get it to fit perfect. Sorry, no pics or video because the wife was nagging me to take the kids out for lunch.

One thing I did notice. start fromt he front and work your way to the back. Dont tighten anything down completely until you have it all together.

Yah, must be 'sedan fitment' although I thought lots of sedan owners thought the tips extended too much. I figured that mean they were more of a hybrid length.

Look forward to seeing side profile pics. (but your Greddy is back on now?)

Greddy is back on because the tips clear the bumper. The tips on the GMS exhaust went into the bumper so it would have probably burnt my bumper.

Sorry for the dirty car, as you can see the weather hasn't allowed me to keep it clean.

The tips are a little longer than I'd like, and I might tuck them up with some poly hangers. And I'm getting too old to crawl around under a car, I'm feeling it today!

post #39 for the evidence of NOT MADE IN AMERICA.

Dang dude, calm down...They retracted their claim that it was made in the US but they still claim it is 304SS. I would gladly pay a little extra cash knowing that Iw ould get awesome support from Importimage. Try to email cxlighting or xo2 with a quetion or problem.

Where'd they retract the Made in the US part? GMS website still says "This baby is made of true Stainless steel right in the good ol' USA."

Anyhow, we all knew deep down that it was the same... :)

And it's true, cxlighting is poor for communication. I asked whether mine will have a resonator and I was told no but I have a hunch it will come with one... I'll know for sure this weekend when I pick it up.

Best price on GMS branded exhaust is in their own GB on nasioc...

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1910255

$299 shipped - that's better than cxlighting's price. Catch is they need 10+ people. And there aren't many legacy peeps on nasioc. I would have bought through them if I had known about this deal before...

Dang, wish I had seen that too. Oh well, I paid a little more, and I didn't have to wait. :)

It shipped from Florida, you would think if it was made in China it would ship from Cali? My Megan Racing CBE was made in China and shipped from there.
