Heard back from ipmart but not much is new. The maps they give are trial versions. They are checking with the factory to see if we can get F degrees and will get back to me. I responded and asked him to verify that the color is gray/silver not black which is what the drawings are. Although, the pic is gray/silver. I'm USDM, do some other markets have black plastic center consoles?

After some digging on the Caska of Europe web site the GPS map application is by

a company called Sygic and it looks like Sygic uses Tele Atlas data so it should

be ok. Based on some reviews the Sygic mapping app is fine it runs about

$60 for North American maps.

What the deal on the HVAC controls in the LGT? From other posts I'm gathering

that it's part of the radio assembly and can't be separated? Am I right? I was

hoping to use my origional controls.

I believe some other countries have black interior. Some folks here have had custom units made up by Highline Car Audio (username HighlineCA) and had them painted black. You just need to paint the shifter surround to make it match and it looks really good.

The automatic climate control equipped cars have integrated controls that are a serious pain in the arse to separate. The custom units I mention above were done by a small stereo shop that manually separated the climate controls and it literally took them like a week to do one.

Here's the HighlineCA JDM bezel kit research thread... http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82924&highlight=highlineca

Here's the group buy thread. The first post has links to their other threads... http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74919

Cheers!

The HVAC units are dependent on the BIU and/or gauge cluster, in other words if this otherwise works with USDM car, the units will still be displayed in the retarded Fahrenheit degrees.

Looks like this unit comes with the integrated A/C switches. Don't think Celsius / Fahrenheit should be an issue based on post #3:

I haven't heard anything back from the factory or anything new from IPMart. IPMart is apparently looking into the F/C degrees issue which based on earlier post may not be an issue. I don't really care either way. IPMart is also looking into if the unit is black as many of the drawings are or grey/silver as the photo is. I prefer grey.

Based on my research, here's what I have peiced together. (If you buy and I'm wrong don't hold it against me...I'm only googling) The price for the units range from about $550-$930 depending on how many you buy. They do not include maps, but they can be bought from Sygic for about $60. Shipping is about $75. IPMart says there is a manufaturer's waranty of 1 year. I'm assuming that the waranty is worthless.

I think my price point is about $850 so I need to get it for $715. I think I'm going to try and get more info for another week or so and then try and get it from IPMart for $650 leaving room for negotiation.

Some of you have said you were interested in a group buy. Who is really interested and for how much? I've never done a group buy so how do you work them. Should we take the group buy discussion offline and exchange emails?

All I know is that the manufacturer won't let me become a distributor, and the US distributor won't sell me one.

I want to try and convince FlyAudio to make us one. They run Windows 6 CE (I think) and can use the Garmin GPS software.

Rosen huh? Interesting how things sometimes come full circle. This whole thing started for me about two weeks ago when I got the Crutchfield catalog and I saw the ad for Rosen. Their web site says they are the manufaturer and they don't list the Legacy. Only Impreza and Forester. So I started Googling around and found Caska.

I saw FlyAudio also. Are they a better or more known brand?

I checked out Flyaudio and they don't seem to make for the Legacy only Impreza and Forester. Here's the link...

http://www.flyaudio.net/product_id.asp?id=193&xid=1

I compared the pics between Rosen's web site and Coagent/Caska for about 5 of the units and as near I can tell the units are identical so it seems reasonable that they are the same. I sent an email to Rosen asking them if they are Caska units.

If they are, I feel better about it. Mainly because Crutchfield is selling Rosen and they generally sell pretty good stuff.

The bad new is IPMart has increased there prices to 572 for 10 and $1031 for one.

What is everyone on this post flooding them with requests for info or has someone somewhere actually bought one? :) Maybe will get some reliable info...

if we can make something produced from flyaudio, count me in. if i'm gonna pay 800-1000 for one of these, i want it to be a quality piece. otherwise i'll go the jdm route with a pioneer avic. i hope something happens soon, because i need bt and nav in this car bad!!

I'm with this guy

I'm not sure where we are on this. I hadn't heard anything from IPMart in a week so yesterday I sent two emails trying to verify the color. I just got a response that they are out of stock so they can't tell me the color. Interesting since 3 days ago they raised the price. I'm guessing it's some deal where the units don't really exist, but they are willing to make them if they get a big enough order. That would explain why no one carries them and no one has seen one. Maybe the pic is only a prototype. Rosen, also won't respond to emails about the units. Anyway, just speculation. I'll probably try a little more and then give up.

I already e-mailed Rosen, and they have no plans to bring the Legacy/Outback version over.

I emailed them anyways in hopes that they see a large group of owners asking about it maybe they will do something with it..... supply and demand

I just contacted http://www.motevomobile.com as they make direct replacement radios for many cars including subaru (forester) to see if they had any interest in a 05-09 legacy setup. Most likely a waste of time but.

I've gotten email responses from several suppliers (3 or 4) and apparently the unit is no longer made because the car is no longer made. Caska is making the unit for the Current, Legacy if anyone is interested.

I'm pretty frusterated because, I think the unit is decent and I would be willing to take a shot. Too bad I spent my time screwing around with various iPod adapters when if I had acted sooner maybe I could have gotten this.

Anyway, two Hong Kong suppliers said they are talking to Caska about starting production up again and would let me know. I'm not holding my breath...
