markc0220k
which 3M pls, KurtP? (black chrome, Color Stable, Crystalline, FX-standard, or Fx-Hi-perf? ) Yours is very dark. by just looking at the pic, it's looked like 5%!
KurtP
yeah its pretty dark. Its 3M color-stable I actually got metered and they came up as 10% but thats not surprising considering most factory windows carry some tinting in the glass and 3M rates that 20% film at 16%. The color stable is nice, imo, because it doesnt purple, block phone/sat signals but does block all forms of UV that trash your leather/interior. My only complaint is the darkness. While I am over all very happy with it and like the look, but I didnt set out for a ~15% (or 20, for that matter) film, and the 35% was too light. something in the 25-30 range would have been perfect. Looking at that picture though, I think it looks a little darker there than it does in person....but not much
markc0220k
on pg.2, i posted some pics that i took from inside. you can see how light 30% is! Recently i found my car look darker from outside, but look lighter seeing from inside.
KurtP
yeah mine is the same way. I also got a 5" windshield banner which I really like. The one thing i did NOT do was tint the sun roof. I have found that by not tinting that further than factory, I can open or close the sunshade and alter how dark the car looks from the outside by a good 10%

Aczwild
20% all around, done yesterday. Damn I'm so happy and yesterday was the first time in a long time I was able to drive comfortably without sunglasses on when the sun was to my sides or rear. Now time to fight with the optometrist to get it in writing so I can keep the tint with regards to Johnny Law http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y272/Aczwild/DSC02793.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y272/Aczwild/DSC02795.jpg JDM'd All to hell Thanks Jimmy @ Hkc-Speed.com! markc0220k
..but thats not surprising considering most factory windows carry some tinting in the glass and 3M rates that 20% film at 16%. but stock legacy comes with stock factory tint too? if i recalled correct, first day i picked up my car and it was not tinted. mark ps: i'm also looking for the subi pig decal too. but it's very hard to find the "reward" one because i want to stick it inside the window! KurtP
All windows have some light tinting included in the actual glass, its not a film. What grill/wheels are those Aczwild?
Aczwild
The wheels are the Stock '06 & '07 Spec B wheels. The grill is the JDM STi Rev D honeycomb grill, but to have it you have to modify it to fit an '08-'09 USDM bumper, or buy a JDM front bumper like I have and then modify it to fit that (since my car is an '07) JDM'd All to hell Thanks Jimmy @ Hkc-Speed.com! 2.5gtbx_44
I got 20% in the front and 5% on the back. Im gonna go 5% all around soon enough! http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j133/s13slider44/IMG_0048.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j133/s13slider44/IMG_0047.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j133/s13slider44/IMG_0046.jpg
markc0220k
2.5gbtx_44, so are you going to remove all films and retint it to 5%? or just tint it over? i'm thinking to "add" another 60% over 30% (think it should be ended up at approx 20%? ) mark
2.5gtbx_44
well i had planned to remove the 20% on the front and put on 5% but, i have a scratch in one of my tints in the back so I might just change them out idk. If i were to retint then the backs would still look darker than the fronts and I dont want that. I want them to look uniform.

Or maybe 25% Somewhere around there.
KurtP
looks like 30%, you would probably meter at about 22-25%
2.5gtbx_44
I metered at 18% in the front!

I want them to look uniform. my friend tinted 5% on his qx4 which the back windows were already tinted and the front windows are so dark that it looks uniform...you pretty much can never see inside of his car at any time of day....but if you have a scratch thats a different story

markc0220k
again, does anyone think* to tint 2 layers is kinda stupid? the more i look at other legacy with darker tinted window, the more i regret i paid $400 for 30%!! but couple shops told me that the lowest % in ceremic tint film is 30%. thus i think if i can do double layers, meaning to get another 30% on top of the 30%! mark
