I was actually looking up on these a few days ago, since my craftsman just died on me. A couple searches led me to the Arcan Quick Lift Service Jack. It has 3 1/2in height clearance and can lift above 21in. Its pretty pricey if you can't find them locally. Hope this helps you.

^ That's only on hand tools.

My black steel Craftsman has worked fine for years. My Craftsman Al race jack has leaked, paid $50.00 to have it fixed then the swivel joint broke the next time I used it. Jack still works you just have to release it by bending down and open the release with your figures.

This one looks pretty good, but that's in Canadian dollars ?

I have this one and use it on my LGT and my wife's big ass Expedition.

It is really heavy but it does the job well.

How long is the low part?

Between that and a jack from Harbor Freight, it's a toss-up.

It's only your car and your life in the balance... no biggie.

This is a good deal for those who don't want to spend a ton: $150 for a 3 ton jack, creeper and jack stands.

Update:

I can either go with the Omega (one of the tool reps I was working with before seriously screwed up this one time) for under $270 shipped.

Or I can go with the Ranger for $360 shipped.

Omega has 20" max height, can get under the car without 'starter wood', but may not be great quality.

Ranger goes to 30" max height, but requires starter wood under the tires. The Ranger can be used to place the starter wood, which is a plus over driving up onto it. Quality should be a step up from the Omega.

Any new information on either of these would be welcomed. Otherwise I'm going to wait on what the Omega rep says. I'm leaning more towards the Ranger, as 30" is really nice for transmission swaps, and go figure I have an extra one now.

The black Sears jack is the jack I use the most. It's heavy but works well.

Not sure why you need 30" lift unless your working on a big SUV. I use a 6 ton bottle jack and a few blocks of wood for the Chevy 3500 dually it's much lighter and smaller. Paid under $20.00 at Harbor Fright. Bought four 6 ton jack stands to go with it.

I have talked about the Sears Aluminum race jack here earlier, Still use it but it mainly stays in the trailer with the race car. The next jack we'll buy looks like the US General or Torin from Harbor Fright with 20" lift. The $150 range jacks seem to have only 14" lift.

^^^ As atc5 (the man) mentioned before (and I agree completely) 30" will make a tranny swap much easier. It so happens that the 5eat is on my list of things that I will break eventually. Even if I don't go the full 30", even 25" is a welcomed increase over 20" (this is just my preference).

I use an Arcan aluminum jack from Costco. It was a little over $100. It has more than enough oomph for the LGT, somehow manages to reach in under a spec.B with coilovers and a front lip to get to the front jack point, and it's pretty light for a 3 ton jack.

I just checked costco.com. Right now they only have a 1.5 ton lightweight jack. It looks like a low-profile piece but without the length or lift that you are looking for.

What you have described meets every single criterion I have (except maybe the wicked 30" height).

Edit: It seems this is similar to the ones linked above. I am amazed you could reach all the way to the front center jack point with it.

Might be a good balance for you. Seems like the castors might be a bit weak.

Sadly, I've been using a $20 pep-boys 1.5 ton steel jack for like 4 years and while it absolutely sucks for reach and strength, it's also never failed me, broken, or anything else. A couple of sturdy jack stands have helped too.

But really man, this is your life you are talking about. Get something that makes you feel good about and that will last.

I've heard very good things about this brand, but have never used it. I think that's a more serious jack right there.

Here's the Arcan mentioned earlier: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200345429_200345429

If you can deal with a heavy jack, that's pretty nice.

i have the first one in the garage..if i had the choice to do it again, i would get a 3 ton one...only things nice about it is that its super light i believe i got it from autozone for like 129

Decision: I bought the ASE Ranger.

Though much more expensive than I would have liked and not able to slide under the car completely, it goes to 31.5" and should last me a lifetime.

Now I just need to work my ass off to pay for the recent lot of garage upgrades...

Worked ass off, finally got a moment and opened up the box.

Awesome piece!

Here are some relevant details not readily available.

Jack point is 4" from ground, but white part can be pulled to get it ~1/2" lower.

Picture #2 below shows a square ruler where the jack arm reaches 6" while the jack is bottomed out, so again it's not going to roll all the way under the car without going up a few inches first.

Right end of red jack arm at full low is 8.75" high.

I'm really happy with the purchase, glad I chose this one.

I think it was $360 shipped.

I didn't consider I'll be spending another $150+ on four jack stands to go to 30" high. What an expensive decision, but in the end I think it will have been the right choice.

I've owned the Matco low profile floor jack for about three years now and it's the best I ever used. When I worked in shop that did mostly Corvette work, we had three of them. I couldn't resist buying one for home use. Just don't pay Matco's $399 list price! I think I got it for $290 off the Matco truck.

Update: I talked with ATC5 about his view on the Omega. He said it did not feel like the hefty, durable, solid jack that the Ranger and AC Hydraulics jacks feel like.

Anyways, I got the ranger, and used it to put my car up about 17 ish inches on 4 jack stands. Later on, the damn jack broke. Figures, it's made in China. When I would pump it up, it would immediately start falling back down as if it was always in 'go down' mode. I called Ranger, and they actually sent a new one out as a warranty replacement.

This replacement one (same model number) is not the smooth, sturdy one like the first one. It stutters when I lower it. It is also less rigid. It has more side-to-side play it. I figure this replacement one was a warranty claimed one they refurbished. Now I'm upset. This was an investment for the long-term. Crap investment.

This jack company has top notch customer service, but the two products I've received both suck. I wouldn't mind having an Omega at this point, even if it does feel less sturdy. It would at least be less $$$ and I wouldn't need to use a helper jack to get the lifting started.

SUMMARY: Ranger Model RFJ2TX thumbs down.
