Hmmm... Looks like the engine mount is directly below the turbo. Do you think there will be enough room for bigger turbos, with that engine mount hugging the oem turbo like that?

Actually, if you look at the picture with all the hardware in yellow, it looks like the mount is in FRONT of the turbo, and that's where the bottom of the "V" brace mounts.

THAT'LL hinder going larger on the turbo until someone re-works a new motor mount.

...or changes the location of the turbo, like recently mentioned.

...it's almost like Subaru is TRYING to thwart modifications!

...wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer has done that, but I seriously doubt that's the case. The new location allows for a quicker spool and light off of the cat. I don't think they sat down and thought, how can we keep people from modifying the car.

I've got a feeling that the 2.0-liter turbo automatic versions will be a twinscroll turbocharger, and the 2.5-liter manuals will be a single scroll turbocharger.

New compressor and hotside castings to make, oh joy. Turbo's up to 380 sizing should be doable, but we won't know about anything larger than that till we open it up. Fun fun.

The power curves are totally bogus - I worked with one of the japanese manufacturers for over 10 years, and have personally "created" many power curves for just these releases, and every time they had me, ahem, massage them for something that looks much better than the reality. The ones posted are just optimistic estimates that they know the Japanese audience will eat up (since they are the same audience that auctually believes every turbo subaru produces 280ps...).

You gotta finish the JDM STI twinscroll housing first.... :p

Perry Subaru in Norfolk had one of the new Leggys in for the meet last weekend. I was unable to attend but I could check to see if they still have it or if it was brought down by the SOA rep.

interesting......great find guys....I was thinking about the mod side of things for this car for a while...BTW...I won't miss the boxer sound either if it's EL headers. It would fall in line with getting the NVH similar to an Accord or Camry..

the engine rendering doesn't appear to have power steering??

turbo right there seems like it will cause a lot of heat stress on the front engine cover and accessory belts.. may also cause problems with oil temps?

The car might grow on me if it didn't have those massive retarded 2-tier (?) fender flares.

Might look good with a lip spoiler sitting on the trunk lid, too.

How about if we keep this thread focues on the turbo/engine aspect of the new car only, mmmkey?

There are multiple threads where to diss the rest of the car...
