Mindspin311
I thought I read somewhere that only the Cobb DP bolts up directly to the remainder of the stock exhaust and that the invidia will no because it is a true 3in pipe. Is this correct?

camber
Any flat flanged 3" DP can be made to fit the stock catback with a 3"->2.5" reducer. Some people have success just cranking down a flat flange 3" DP to the stock catback. However, it usually ends up leaking.
Beanboy
Neither of the ones listed attach to midpipe, midpipe is replaced in both cases. As mentioned, Crucial is one, and I know there are a couple of others. -B http://www.standardshift.com
addison
i have a harmon motive dp with a true 3" exit and but i inserted a flange adaptor between the dp and the stock catback
Long Island Legacy
I have a Perrin 3" catless with a WBR exhaust adapter. Works ok but is really just a band aid type fix. Real solution is to buy a compatible midpipe. Not to mention the bottleneck you have going on with the stock restrictve midpipe

snow05gtRI
I believe the original poster is talking about the pipe with the resonator in it (the straight pipe of the exhaust)? It is often referred to as the mid-pipe, i guess "intermediate pipe" is the proper term for it? stupid 2 piece down pipe making things confusing... Mindspin311
Granted, its a wrx exhaust, but its basically the same thing. I was under the impression that a full downpipe replaces all the way up to the circled flange. And that the cobb dp was the only one that would directly bolt up, and that others had a true 3" flange, where the Cobb went down to 2.5" http://i37.tinypic.com/s45mjn.gif
snow05gtRI
this is correct about the cobb pipe. i'm not sure about how others fit. people thought you were just talking about replacing the first section in that picture, and keeping your stock third catalytic converter section. people often call that the mid pipe.
